Filmmaker Jon Gustafsson follows the fiasco that was the production of Beowulf and Grendel in this documentary that shows what happens on a film set when everything that can go wrong does. When director Sturla Gunnarsson began production on Beowulf and Grendel, he was well prepared for the typical complications that go along with producing a feature film. What he wasn't ready for was the series of inexplicable disasters that made the entire crew begin to believe that the Norse gods themselves were attempting to sabotage the production. From the blessing that turned into a curse to the awful weather, the loss of expensive equipment, a horrific car crash, a sinking Viking ship, and constant financial struggles, this was a production that would have made even Terry Gilliam weep. In the end the film was actually completed, though not before star Gerard Butler deemed it, "The hardest film I've ever done." ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
Fantastic film!!!!!! It is a must see it will leave you spell bound one moment laughing out loud and then with complete sympathy for cast and crew of Beowulf and Grendel. All aspiring film students should see this documnetary about the obstacles faced by cast and crew and the many sacrifices they had to make to film their movie. Independent filmmaking at its best!!!!!!!!!
