| Synopsis: | An instant family classic, Benji is shot mostly from the a dog's-eye view , adding even more characterization to a title character well-played by canine veteran Higgins. Benji is an intelligent homeless mutt adopted by a loving family; when the kids are kidnapped, it's the little dog to the rescue in the best tradition of bigger doggie heroes like Rin Tin Tin and Lassie. Believe it or not, Higgins really acts; his captivating performance and the simple, straightforward telling of the story makes for all-around family fun. A sequel didn't fare as well, but the original Benji is still a furry favorite. ~ Don Kaye, Rovi |

All the kids wanted to see this little dog on the big screen in the 70's. But now the little mutt is mostly forgettable. It was a family movie cash-in, like many of the films today.

I loved this movie. I saw it when I was about 5. It was entertaining and yet kind of sad. I loved the dog and his name so much that I named a stuffed dog after it. :P

One of the cutest animal movies ever. Good for a teary-eyed ending. Real wholesome family fun, unlike the crap Disney spits out. .

Little ones will be happy, but adults with fond memories of the '70s film will feel like they've been force-fed Snausages.

Benji is such an awesome dog! This really is a cheesy 70s family film but the dogs were still awesome. I only wish there was a making of but there were no special features.

Don't remember this one clearly enough to give it above/below an average rating. A re-viewing is in order.

The acting is pretty bad but Benjis acting was better than his human costars. He has got to be the most talented dog ever to hit the screen. The director did a fantastic job and his directing with Benji makes it seem as if you can feel exactly what Benji is feeling. I think it is a fantastic film and that all children should watch it. How could you resist that dogs adorable face.

I love dogs and Benji is one of those special dogs. I think I actually like him better than Lassie.
