Legends of the Fall
This is probably the film i've seen more times. It's one of the few that doesn't stop to move me every time I see it. The story is absolutely haunting, beautiful, epic...Every line in the movie is memorable. The cast is one of the best ever put together on a film. Gordon Tootoosis (One Stab, the story narrator), Anthony Hopkins (Coronel Ludlow), Aidan Quinn (Alfred), Brad Pitt (Tristan), Julia Ormond (Susannah), Henry Thomas (Samuel)...They all stand out for the depth in their performance. And James Horner's (Braveheart) music is, as always, profound and moving. At the end you are amazed by how life can be meaningful and also tormented to find meaning in your own existence. "I followed all of the rules, man's and God's. And you, you followed none of them. And they all loved you more. Samuel, Father, and my... even my own wife."

Atonement
When the trailer of this film came out i watched it over and over again. Then i read the book and just love it. It's not the usual tragic love story about two lovers that are cruel separated soon after founding each other. It's also a interesting tale about human faults and the tragic effects they can have on others and on the own perpetrator. The movie is a great adaptation of the novel and captures the little details that make this book so rich. Beautifully shot and with great performances, specially from James McAvoy* and, of course, Vanessa Redgrave, this film moved me in a away that left me crying at the end, despite knowing how it ended. As always i couldn't help notice the superb soundtrack by Dario Marinelli's, which fully deserved the Oscar. Adding the sound of Briony's typing machine was a genius idea and gave the movie a dark touch. Afterall, they were Briony's actions that determined the other characters' fate and haunted their life. "Dearest Cecilia, the story can resume. The one I had been planning on that evening walk. I can become again the man who once crossed the surrey park at dusk, in my best suit, swaggering on the promise of life. The man who, with the clarity of passion, made love to you in the library. The story can resume. I will return. Find you, love you, marry you and live without shame."
