Alright, so let me get this straight.
A bunch of Southerners spent their whole lives relying so heavily on the thankless, unappreciated, torturous labor that they forced upon the innocent human beings they kept as property that when the civil war ended and the slaves were free, they couldn't take care of their lives and their land, because they had never had to do it for themselves.


So what, I'm supposed to feel BAD for these people? I'm supposed empathize with them? No. Thanks anyway.
