Maybe the BEST movie ever made. Why? The script is the best script ever written in my opinion. The ingredients involved are flawlessly combined while making sure Action, Comedy, Horror, Suspense, Fantasy, and Family Values are in the movie. With the exception of Buttercup the entire movie was cast perfectly. Now bare in mind I'm not saying Robin Wright Penn did a bad job. Far from it. I'm just saying I believe they could have found someone with equal or superior acting talent that would better fit the description of "Most Beautiful Woman In The Land". Keeping that in mind I will say Robin Wright Penn did an excellent job with the part. This is (In My Opinion) Cary Elwes, Mandy Patinkin, Chris Sarandon, and Wallace Shawn's best work. The cinematography (considering the year the movie was filmed) was done so well that it lends itself to the audiences imagination. The direction was well done and I believe Robert Reiner should just put down his directors hat and walk away. He can do no better than this movie. This is a movie you can't remake or sequel. Such an act would be like trying to rewrite or improve upon the works of genius' such as William Shakespear, Albert Einstein, or Monet. But this movie was not made by one genius. This was the product of many talented hard working visionaries.
In my opinion one of the best comedies ever written. Sure it's based off a board game. But who cares. Tim Curry's best comedic performance. Every actor had excellent chemistry with each other. The scenery, fantastic and adds to the comical mystery as possible. My second favorite movie in the world.
By far the best comic book movie ever made. Why you ask? This is the only comic book sequel that can stand on it's on two feet without it's predecessor's existence. I never was a fan of Heath Ledger until what I saw him do with The Joker (My favorite comic book character of all time). Which is obviously very sad due to his death, knowing that if he lived he would have done even more great things including reprise the role of The Joker in the next in the sure to be continuing franchise. I want to make it perfectly clear that I think Heath Ledger's performance was the best in the entire movie. However, I MUST give due to the other stellar performances by the fantasticially talented and legendary cast. Gary Oldman gives his A game as Gordon and I must say actually seems like a superhero himself in many scenes. Morgan Freeman and Micheal Caine give heartfelt performances that make you interested in their side of the story. Christian Bale...... OK one of the only two flaws I saw with the movie is that with all the great talent surrounding this movie, Christian Bale couledn't compete with the legends he was working with. Thus making Batman seem more like background than anything else. I will say he did a great job not as good as everybody else in the movie. Last but not least: Aaron Eckhart. The man behind Two Face. The best take on the character I've seen.
Such a good script and excellent characters. Aaron Eckhard made me fall in love with his ability in this film. God it's tough to say what specifically I like about this film but I KNOW that the dialogue is one of the main reasons I love this movie sooooo much.
The Best Time Travel Movie EVER! This film is the stuff that movie legends are made of. The special effects are revolutionary as is the storytelling. The movie business would not be as wonderful as it is today wihtout this film.
I have to admit this is my favorite of the trilogy. "The Fellowship" is not so much about war like the proceeding two movies are. This one is about a band of heros embarking on a journey together. I enjoy that kind of a story where everyone must band together.
Best Bond Movie Yet! Not because it's something new or because it breathed life back into the franchise. But, because it showed the heart of who bond really is. Granted he screwed up now and again but it's the story of his beginning. Anyone would screw up a time or two on their first double 0 mission. My only complaints are that there are no Q scenes or even decent gadget scenes. Also, I don't believe Jusi Dench should have played M. Don't get me wrong. I love her. But if this is truely the beginning of the legacy of Bond they should have started with a male M. That aside this movie was put together perfectly. Daniel Craig did a stellar job, as did everyone else. Martin Campbell directed this thing like a pro... Much like he did with Goldeneye (The movie that introduced me to James Bond). This movie shows every reason why I love James Bond.
An excellent fantasy movie. There needs to be more movies like this one. It has that legendary Lucas feel to it which adds a certain magic. and Val Kilmer and Warwick Davis do such a great job that you can't notice the bad acting done by everyone else. The Music gives it a certain magic as well. Frankly if it wasn't for lord of the rings I would say this is the best fantasy movie ever.
My Favorite Disney Animated Feature. My Favorite Disney Villain as Well (Cruella Deville). One of the things that makes this film so great is it's animation. The caliber of animation that this movie uses is what drawn me into not just the movie but the concept of "Disney Magic". It's gritty yet beautiful. It makes me sad to think that there will never be animation like that ever again. The closest was the animation in "Triplettes of Bellville" but even then it doesn't have that power that 101 has. Animation aside the story is made of the stuff that put Disney where it is today. It represents what Disney was. And even though I do love my Pirates and Pixars.... I miss the old Disney.
This is THE quintessential action movie. John Woo at his best. This movie represents everything an action movie should be: A bitter feud, good versus evil, the deep look into who IS actually the good guy.
Tim Burton did a great job and deserves alot of credit for keeping Batman alive by taking away the "Bang" "Bop" "Whammy" and putting back in the gritty reality of Batman. This movie certainly is a legendary movie because of that. And I believe alot of credit goes to Micheal Keaton and Jack Nicholson as well. HOWEVER Alfred never intentionally invites people into the batcave, The Joker didn't kill Batman's Parents, and The Joker does nothing but dance in the end. No grand scheme. No planned trap. Just dancing and hooping and holering and cracking jokes. To me that's disappointing. It's for those reasons that this film is missing a half a star.
A great sequel to a great movie. And a better ending in my opinion. Micheal Keaton and Tim Burton still do a good job. Michelle Pfieffer is the best woman I've seen to play Catwoman. BUT Danny Devito as The Penguin felt like I was robbed of something that could have been better. The Penguin is not a dirty, greasy, flibbered freak. He is a pudgy, long nosed aristocratic criminal genius that is very high brow in his crimainal acts. But the character of Max Shrek (played by Christoper Walken) makes up for that a bit.
Probably Tim Burton's Best Work. regardless of the fact that the scene where Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin get exorcised gave me nightmares as a kid, the movie truely holds a special place in my moviegoing heart.
Another movie I was addicted to as a kid. I dressed like Bill. bought the toys. Told my mom to pull over everytime I saw a phone booth so I could go back in time. But now that I'm all grown up I know this movie so well and truely believe it deserves a place in movie history.
Bill & Ted definetly deserved a sequel and it definetly did not disappoint me. I loved their new journey and I love the Grim Reaper character. The only reason I gave it a half-star less than the first one is because of The "Reapers Rap" during the end. It was uncalled for.
This movie is such an underground hit. A cult classic. This movie was banned from America for a short while due to the concept (Good People killing Evil People for the lord). Frankly that adds to the appeal for me. I'm not going to say it was his best but it was definetly my favorite performance by Willem Defoe. Excellent Humor and wonderful action.
Wow! This movie is brilliance. It's like no movie ever made before. I know what you're going to say. It's exactly like Blair Witch Project, right? The only similarity to the two movies is the form of cinematography. In BWP it's a POV look at three campers being haunted by a witch. This movie is a POV look at how the Community of NYC handle an honest to god monster attack. The only similarity is POV. This moive is SO much better than BWP. It's more like an Adult Disney Ride than a movie. I love how movies are gearing towards a more realistic view of how things would be done. This is a prime example of that. The characters are average in everything except the way they look (Hey hollywood needs to keep some things the same). They're not heros. Just people. I love that. There is a heroic act in the movie but it's made in stupidity not honor. I love this movie.
As a comic book reader I must say I've never been a fan of Iron Man. Besides Tony Stark being a billionair prick I didn't see the allure. So for me to LOVE this movie is saying somehthing. This movie has made me enjoy the mythology of Iron Man. The majority of the credit goes to Robert Downey Jr. Not only did he become the part of Tony Stark so magnificently, but he was also so invested in the pre production because he believed in the project that much. Marvel movies rarely let me down. But I thought this one was going to. I was wrong. A side note on Jeff Bridges. When I first saw him in movies I didn't think much of him. But now as I am seeing more and more of his work, the more and more he impresses the hell out of me. I also enjoyed all the cool nods they did in the movie to other comic book characters close to Tony Stark in the comic book. If you've ever loved a comic book movie before this is a great watch.
God I was adicted to this movie when I was a kid. Dolph does a great job as He Man. And they do a good job of telling the story in a real life format. The plot is well thought out (surprisingly).
My favorite Monty Python movie.... Save for the Crimson Permanant Assurance film at the beginning. This movie contains all the reasons all the reasons I fell in love with Monty Python in the first place.
I can't believe I'm saying this but I think that this remake is better than the original. It was filmed in Pittsburgh (like the original), the changes they made to the plot I agree with, and Tony Todd does an EXCELLENT job.
Wow did they ever bring it back. Even though the plot was very hard to follow it was still a great plot. The chemestry between them is still there. The tactics they use are awesome. There are a few elements from "Twelve" that did urk me here and there. Also givien Al Pacino's track record it wasn't his best work. Other than that, no complaints.
This movie was the scariest movie I have ever seen. Why? Because I was scared. Not grossed out. Not worried that some man holding a scaple was ACTUALLY going to use a scalpel. Honestly and truthfully scared for the characters and myself. This is what a horror movie should be.
The Marguis DeSade has never been so entertaining. Geoffrey Rush's best work and I think I can say the same for juaquin Phoenix. The very first scene draws you in so well and carries you through to the end so effortlessly.
Such a great movie. Everybody did such a wonderful job. Even the kid was doing some of the most top notch acting I've ever seen a child actor do. Based on the graphic novel they gave the story so much more emotion, depth, character. The music, the cinematograpy, the acting is all top notch.
There are no (if not few) movies that have amazing actors doing fantastic jobs, wonderful characters, Breakthrough cinematography, AND an adapted story done verbatim to the original work. That is except this movie. This movie has all that.
The ensamble cast delivers a high rate comedy all around. And just like Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels it delivers an plot that pulls you in so easily.
This movie did what every other comic book movie should do. They stayed true to the story and legend of Spider-man. Granted they took small liberties here and there (the biggest one they took is having Mary Jane meet Peter in school. But I'm OK with that.) So by keeping the facts and essence of the Spider-Man in the film they literally brought the comic to life. Which every Comc Book Movie should do.
Best Zombie Comedy yet. And yes I am ranking it over Shaun of the Dead. Sure, you can make the argument that there aren't that many zombies in it. But the characters really make it worth the watch. Especially the special guest appearence. Jesse Eisenberg doesn't really impress me too much. He gets the job done. But as for the other lead actors... A step up indeed. I am so happy this movie was made and hope it get's made into the television series it was intended to be in the first place.
