My all time favorite movie, simply excellent, scarry as hell and in a very subtle way. Jack is at his best. It was perfectly cast, very loosely based on the book, which was good thing, Kubrick is one of the greatest directors of all time and he picked out the very best parts of the book and added a great spin. Love it.
Simply the best movie EVER made. Bogart is at his best. It's thrilling, it's inspirational, it's romantic, it's funny, it's got everything, including a laundry list of great quotes.
In my top 5 all time best movies ever made. The acting is superb, which is why it garnered 3 acting nominations, and wins for Sean Penn and Tim Robbins. The story is gripping with very good twists, and the directing is great.
OH, what can I say. It's only the second best movie ever made in my book. Great actors in Great roles, with a Great story, and Great directing. What more can you ask for?
Quite simply one of the best movies I've ever seen. Yes, it's a musical, technically. But it has an incredibly good story, and it's all beatles music. It's done perfectly, It actually seems like the music was written just for this movie, pretty exceptional considering the music in the Beatles' movies doesn't even drive the story, and the music actually was written them. The subject matter isn't even something that I'm very crazy about: anti-Vietnam war sentiment. But even that is the back story, it is a love story through and through, and the acting was incredible.
Excellent movie. Very complex, very compelling, awesome script, awesome concept. So many little things that pop up here there, you notice something new everytime you watch. Great acting, especially from Brad Pitt, his ramblings in the mental institute contain some of favorite movie lines of all time. If you havn't see it...YOU HAVE TO GO GET IT!!
I have met very few people who have seen this movie, even the classic movie buffs like me. I would call it the most underated movie of all time, despite the best pic win. So incredibly amazing...you don't have to be a classic movie buff to enjoy it. Alfred Hithcock directed it, which should tell alot right there. But the story is so amazing and suspenseful, some incredible moments, good twists and turns. Incredible acting, everyone should this...it's a movie for all generations.
One my all time favorites. A classic. Great coming of age story, filled with good young actors, a story by Stephen King, 4 kids searching for the body of a kid hit by a train. It was one of the first movies that had a huge impact on me.
This movie grabed me when I first watched it. Igby is probably the movie character that would best capture me. I was entranced by it, I made all my friends watch it, and they loved it too.
Who doesn't love The Lost Boys? the quintessential 80s movie...well 80s horror movie at least. The Coreys, Keifer, waht's not to love? Could watch over and over again, and quote it line for line.
Excellent Excellent Excellent movie! I can't say enough about it. Wasn't sure if I would like it and it just blew me away. The story was captivating. The acting was Suberb. Sergi Lopez gave an outstanding performance as a captain of the spanish around World War II. He portrays a true monster in his role, and you really do wish that he would die. Ivana Baguero as the little girl who moves with her mother, who is married to the captain, does well. She seems like a plain ordinary girl, when all the fantastic stuff starts happening to her, she has a very active imagination but yet seems grounded. Don't miss the begining, or you'll be lost...the whole film is filled with excellent visuals, although only about 20% takes place in a "fantasy" world. And it IS foreign and IS in spanish, so if you can't stand subtitles, don't see if...but if you can at least tolerate them, go see this movie!!!
I didn't see what the fuss was the first time I watched it, then I got a job at 7Eleven. Watching this movie as a convenience store clerk gives you so much more appreciation for it. It's a classic. Hilarious....a little tid bit for those who don't know. Kevin Smith intended for this to be a Drama, and made it with that intent...but people laughed, and that began his trip on a serious of outstanding comedies.
You gotta love it. Atticus Finch, played by Greggory Peck is arguably the greatest character in the history of movies. Peck played the role to perfection.
It's an off the wall comedy starring the legendary Jimmy Stewart. It's hillarious and inspirational, and Donny Darko steals the six foot rabbit from this movie.
The original, as usual was better than the remake, but not alot better, not to take anything away from the original though, because the remake was very good, although inaccurate...since it was a true story. If you've seen the remake, you have to see the original, weather you liked the remake or not, it truelly is a horrifying story.
In case anybody has any doubts about Robert Downey Jr. being on of the best actors of our time, just watch this movie, he gives an outstanding performance in a very gripping and real story about a drug addicted kid, and the lives of those around him.
I saaw this for the first time when I was about 15, wasn't the type of film that I usually watched at the time, but I loved it, very well acted all the way around.
You gotta love this movie, it's one of those teen type movies, but it's so not. It's based on Dangerous Liasons, a book banned by many countries for many years. Brialliantly acted Ryan Phillipe and Reese Witherspoon was great too. The story is invreadivle and as the title entails, very cruel, and has very bittersweet ending...hence the main song "bittersweet symphony"
Hilarious and inspirational. A movie about a hotshot movie producer who sees his movies aren't going over so well the public, so he decides to go on a journey to find out what it's like to a common US citizen. He has an enlightening experience and tons of laughs along the way.
Those who have seen this knwo what I mean when I say that the final scene made this movie, it was all or nothing with the scene, I believe it won Best Picture because of it, one of the most lasting and disturbing scenes in movie history.
I loved it, not as much as most people I talk to do, but I thought it was a great courtroom drama, with flashes of hilarious moments. Well acted and well directed.
I wasn't too sure about this movie. I love the video game FF7 is still the greatest game ever made for any system in my book, but movies based on video games...or vice versa...usually suck. This movie blew me away, It's just plain great!!!
Such an amazing and bizzare movie. Set in a very dark future, and very ominous. Kubrick hit another homer with this, very violent and graphic, but extrodinary.
Great movie, exceptionally acted by Robin WIlliamsand Robert Di Nero, a bit of an unlikely match, at the time at least, but Di Nero showed that he can do drama as well as gangster.
I think it's a sin that they made sequalls to The Crow. This was such a good movie, and I refused to watch any sequals, it just couldn't be the same without the late Brandon Lee. It's such a shame that he died making this movie, I think he could have been great.
The one that got it all started. A great film, some who like the other two in the trilogy don't really like this one bc there isn't as much action. But is completely necissary for the rest of the series, Awesome movie!!!
One of the all time best movies. This is the movie I recomend to anyone who's thinking about getting into classic movies...over Casablanca, Citizen Kane, Gone With the Wind, etc. It's an all around type of movie...the kind that EVERYBODY should love.
dark and girtty...very contraversial in it's time bc of the portayal of the gripping realities of alcoholism. Ray Milland gave a superior performance as the out of control alchoholic on a weekend bender. Definitely worthy of it's best picture oscar, and it's in my top 10 movies of all time.
I could have sworn that I have rated and reviewed this movie several times, so I'll just be brief, I love all of the Star Wars movies, except maybe episode 2, which I did really like. I'm not as high on the original as most, mainly because I don't simply give at as much credit just for being the first, there had to be a first, that doesn't make it the best. I liked the stories of episode 3, 5, and 6 better.
Outstanding!!! Great story, great acting, an all star cast...not exactly at the time, but they became that way. The movie that made William Hurt one of my favorite actors.
One of the funniest movies of all time, I think it's very underated in the respect. Cary Grant is at his comical best and is matched perfectly with Irene Dunn.
One of the all time great movies, starring 2 of the all time greatist actors...Jack Lemmon, and, of course, Marilyn Monroe. It's hilarious and just so encapsulating, you just want to watch it again and again.
Simply hilarious. It's a silent film...sort of. There is a little bit of talking, but nonetheless...Chaplin was a genius, and it definitely showed in Modern Times.
I saw this movie for the first time in 9th grade, in American Government class, and I was blown away. Incredibly good story, and Jimmy Stewart gave one of the greatest performances in movie history, even though he didn't win Best Actor...one of all time blunders in oscar history. Such an incredible movie, everyone HAS to see it.
Excellent, masterfully done from beginning to end. The acting, directing, and cinematography are all excellent, if you havn't seen it yet...why havn't you seen it yet?
The one that got them all started. I actually expected more from this movie, having not read the books. I was expecting everybody to be great wizards, with powerful spells, and not expect wands. I didn't really think about the fact that they were just learning how to use magic, but once I got used to it, I was enthralled, it was highly entertaining. Alot more so than I expected, took me a long time to give these movies a chance, but I'm so glad I did.
The second best movie of the series. Loved the aspect of the love stories in this one. My favorite scene of the entire series was when Harry and Hermione are in the hall during the party. And Harmonie asks Harry what it feels like to see Ginny kissing someone else, and his response is like that, knowing how Hermione feels about Ron. Despite the fact that they are wizards, it is feeling that everybody knows, everybody can relate to and having developed such deep connection to these characters through 6 movies, it made me feel that way when it happened. I never read the books, and I can't wait to see the last 2 movies to see how it all turns out.
Could not decide if this should have won best pic, or Milk. Either way, this was an outstanding movie, and Kate Winsle turned in the best performance of her career. It's a stern look at a nazi, but what's more...it makes you feel sympathy for a Nazi, something that I wouldn't have thought could happen and that is why Winslett deserved her Oscar.
Can't decided if this should have won Best pic, or The Reader. Either way, this was an incredible movie, very well acted throughout. Tells a story that I was not at all aware of, and as far as I'm concerned does a very good job of it, of course I can' speak to how true to life it is. I don't understand the mixed reviews that I've seen, i just leads me to believe that either it did was not as true to life and people did not like that, or that the negative reviews are due to homophobes.
The series started getting more intense with this one, now that everybody has better understanding of magic. Wasn't thrilled with the ending, but as a whole I found this to be even more entertaining than the first.
I think this is the worst one so far. Not to say that it's bad, I did like that it started to get more into the past of Harry and his parents, but there were parts of that that I just found excessively drawn out. I also figured out for the first time with this one that none of these movies really have anything that is unnecessary, everything is central to plot. I'm not a big fan of that, there should be things to distract you and throw you off, and little tid bits added just for fun, I don't recall any of that in any of the movies.
