The City of Lost Children (La Cité des Enfants Perdus)
Watching this film is like watching the last fifteen years of fantasy-driven cinema born right before your eyes. Jeunet's realized vision of a dark and terrifying world where children's dreams are no longer a safe place for them to hide will burrow its way into your skin and stay there for days.

Simply put: Lars Von Trier is a genius.

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
Phenomenal score, excellent script, remarkable direction... I can't say much more in praise of this film that has not already been said by many more eloquent people. What I can say is this will always be one of my favorite films ever made by anyone.

Nosferatu, a Symphony of Horror (Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens) (Nosferatu the Vampire) 1922,  Unrated)
Nosferatu, a Symphony of Horror (Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens) (Nosferatu the Vampire)
I will never again be able to watch this movie with all the lights out. Everyone involved with this film outdid themselves - something I believe is evident most of all in its lasting ability to terrify its audiences nearly 90 years after its debut. One of my absolute favorite horror films.

Non si deve profanare il sonno dei morti (Let Sleeping Corpses Lie) (Don't Open the Window) 1974,  R)
Non si deve profanare il sonno dei morti (Let Sleeping Corpses Lie) (Don't Open the Window)
Despite complaints from many zombie fans, I believe this is one of the more true-to-heart depictions of the undead. Genuinely eerie in its determination to uphold tradition, LDAMM takes audiences on a fear-riddled journey thru the Italian countryside, all the way to film's greatest stage for terror: a poorly-staffed hospital in the middle of the night. The special effects team did a great job, as well. I was thoroughly terrified.

Although there are at least 50 good reasons to see this film, the rosary job in the cathedral should be enough to satisfy anyone... Consider Christ on the cross! :)
