Requiem for a Dream
Movies don't get much more effective or powerful than this, one of my top five favourite films ever. Ellen Burstyn should've been awarded the Oscar for her UNFORGETTABLE work as Sara Goldfarb.

House of Sand and Fog
One of the most criminally underseen movies of the last few years. A small drama that quickly becomes a tragedy, "House of Sand and Fog" is a brilliantly directed and very depressing drama with another amazing performance from the best actress working today, Jennifer Connelly.
