Young Adult Young Adult R
Magnificent performance from Charlize Theron as thirty something ex-prom queen and all round self centred borderline psychopath Mavis, who returns to her small town home town in an insane plan to 'rescue' her high school sweetheart Patrick Wilson after he sends her an email announcement of his new baby. Juno-scribe Diablo Cody's brilliantly acidic script, and Theron's unflinchingly bitchy performance combine to make Young Adult a wonderfully feel-bad movie! No sentimental lessons learned, no softening of Mavis at all and a great cynical ending. However, it's not funny enough to be a comedy and not quite a drama either - it's an original!
I also liked her Mini, but was upset it didn't survive the film unscathed!! She must be a cow, she didn't take car of her Cooper! Bit of doggie neglect too come to think of it...
The Nun's Story The Nun's Story Unrated
Lovely film telling the story of nun Audrey Hepburn, her work in the Belgian Congo, her doubts and her eventual decision about her future as a nun. The setting and characters are engaging, and Hepburn is excellent under her wimple! Crusty old Peter Finch is also good.

Fabulous film. Brilliant performances and just a mesmerising story. This was one I genuinely went to see at the cinema at least 7 times, and I cried at the end each time! Mary Stuart Masterson deserved to be a huge star...shame it never quite happened for her.
The Sound of Music The Sound of Music G
A perfect film! You can sing along with everything, laugh at the children dressed in curtains, go "eeeww!" when Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer kiss, boo the nazis and cheer the nuns! Classic.
