My Favorite Movies

  truecockney's Rating My Rating
1
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King 2003,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
My top film, ever! One of only a few sets where the films get better as you go through the story!
2
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl 2003,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Never thought I'd ever laugh at a pirate, because he was funny! A brilliant performance by Johnny Depp and can't wait to see the rest of the trilogy to be released.
3
Team America - World Police 2004,  R)
Team America - World Police
One of the best terrible movies ever. The first time I saw it, I couldn't stop laughing!
4
The Producers 2005,  PG-13)
The Producers
Haven't seen the original, but awesome, not only on screen but on stage as well (I feel it's better on stage, or otherwise this would have got the full 5 stars).
5
The Towering Inferno 1974,  PG)
The Towering Inferno
The first film i remember seeing and not feeling it was long enough.
6
Airplane! 1980,  PG)
Airplane!
One of the best comedy movies, if not the best, ever! Never fails to put a smile on my face.
7
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers 2002,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
The real story starts with the fellowship split in two. There's enough of both sides of the story to keep you in the picture and knowing exactly where each side is at, without referring to the other group too much.
8
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring 2001,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
A bit of a slow start to the story, but reflects exactly how the story was written, as a build up to the adventure and an introduction to all the charcters' profiles.
9
Short Circuit 1986,  PG)
Short Circuit
A childhood classic that I still enjoy to this day.
10
Toy Story 2 1999,  G)
Toy Story 2
A rarity. A sequel that is a greater spectacle to the first film.
11
The Day After Tomorrow 2004,  PG-13)
The Day After Tomorrow
I'll be alright if this is what will happen with global warming.
12
Home Alone 1990,  PG)
Home Alone
No matter how many times I have seen it, I still giggle at the traps paid.
13
Strictly Ballroom 1992,  PG)
Strictly Ballroom
Because of this, I got into dancing myself. An inspiration.
14
Chicago 2002,  PG-13)
Chicago
One of the best musicals around, on screen or stage. A pleasure to watch all the time.
15
Carry on Camping 1969,  R)
Carry on Camping
The best of the saucy British comedy series, with the possible exception of ...Up The Kyhber.
16
Song of the South 1946,  G)
Song of the South
A story about a narator and an American country neighbourhood. Can't tire of hearing "Zippedy-Doo-Da, Zippedy-day".
17
The Land Before Time 1988,  G)
The Land Before Time
Just a shame they had to continue this series. The first were great, but the rest leaves little to the imagination.
18
Toy Story 1995,  G)
Toy Story
If only this happened to me during my childhood, I would have fallen in love with all my toys.
19
The Incredibles 2004,  PG)
The Incredibles
Although not entirely true, this should be exactly how comic books should be converted to the big screen.
20
Mac and Me 1988,  PG)
Mac and Me
From the opening credits, never knew whether I should be humourised or scared. Could never find Mac and Me 2 though.
21
Monsters, Inc. 2001,  G)
Monsters, Inc.
If you were never concerned about what could be hidden in your closet or under your bed as a kid, it's difficult to describe the mix of fear and intrigue that inhabits a childs mind. At least this will give you some idea.
22
Sophie's Choice 1982,  R)
Sophie's Choice
A choice between Sophie's dilemma or not loving at all? Hard as it may be, I thank I'd rather never loving. Truly heart-rending
23
Two Brothers 2004,  PG)
Two Brothers
A heart-warming tale of two tiger cubs being separated and brought back together through adverse circumstances. One not to miss.
24
Ice Age 2002,  PG)
Ice Age
Visually stunning and not just for kids. Planty of fun for all the family.
25
The Simpsons Movie 2007,  PG-13)
The Simpsons Movie
After waiting a year for release, somehow managed to go the whole two hogs (:p) and avoid every review by the media. I absolutely love The Simpsons series and was hoping for a continuation of it. In the way of laughs, it was greater than expected with a few "shocks" along the way. Great entertainment for a Friday night if you want to see a movie with an open mind (even if you don't particularly enjoy the TV series). Line of the film...

Homer to Bart: "You can hold the bomb"
Bart to Ned: "What I can say... the man knows me" :)
26
Hairspray 2007,  PG)
Hairspray
Absolutely perfect, and who would've thought that John Travolta could get away with playing a mother. With the exception of the final number that must have lasted close to 10 minutes, AWESOME. I just wanted to dance when I left the cinema.
27
Meet the Robinsons 2007,  G)
Meet the Robinsons
Throughly enjoyable and madcap at the same time. I just wish that somewhere along those lines I can find friends that are so dysfunctionably lovable as the Robinsons!
28
The Guardian 2006,  PG-13)
The Guardian
An unrequited gem.
29
Up 2009,  PG)
Up
Pixar... You are geniuses!

Must in the same vain as Wall-E, Up was a little slow to start, but the build up was necessary and gave great depth to the lead characters and story. This is the first movie in a long time that I have had the "pleasure" at shedding a tear or two towards the end. I would advise anyone to see this.
30
WALL-E 2008,  G)
WALL-E
Watching it, you just wanted to see something to hate, but there isn't. A joy of cinematography and CG wizardry from Pizar. Reminded me a little of Spirit, Stallion of the Cimarillion in context and audio.
