Marvel's The Avengers
PG-13
Visually impressive but disappointing, average in parts and overly cheesy. The end was good, as were The Hulk and Iron-man, but overly long and hyped for me.

A super cast deliver a tiresome US political drama. It is tight, stable, easy and not for all.
The Clooney led film lacks any depth and so becomes just another 'actor's film', which I and most found unimpressive and mundane.

This UK film, for me, is as good as it gets and helped Film Four get noticed. I was a teenager when this came out and everybody loved it, and its music, for its gritty content and super acting. Ok, heroin abuse amongst a group of odd friends in Glasgow isn't the easiest of subjects to warm to, but the film delivers on many levels. I love it as I have watched it over and over again, and I really do love the character Francis Begbie - the psycho of the group. It stars Ewan McGregor and Robert Carlyle and turns the excellent writer Irvine Welsh's book into a gem of a modern movie. My No. 1

the benchmark for gangster films. More modern and busy than the Godfather and featuring a group, rather than one person as Scarface does. Robert De Niro is my all time favourite actor, but the whole cast is excellent and this, along with rather adult action and dialogue make this a work of Scorcesse art. The soundtrack, style and lines make this THE gangster film.
