Colour-by-numbers. I wasn't expecting too much, but I didn't expect to groan so frequently. Harrison Ford phones it in half the time. The family is about as three dimensional as the movie poster. Even Paul Bettany as the villain (cool) can't lift this turd out of the bowl. When I saw Robert Patrick, Robert Forster and Alan Arkin in supporting roles, I was impressed. And then the movie started. You see just about every "surprise" moment coming, giving you ample time to say "he's not really gonna do THAT, is he?" And then he does. Oh and then there's the tech-speak about a bank heist that happens only via computer. Yup, that'll reel 'em in. Skip this one.

This movie is not as bad as I had been led to believe. Well...most of it. And then the ending came. And it made NO SENSE. Forget that you can see it coming, but the "villain" does not have the means nor opportunity to pull off the scheme. It was bizarre. Is the book like this? The more I thought about it, the less sense it made, which is a shame because the rest of the movie actually works quite well as a simple thriller. It seems much more plausible than Da Vinci Code, but...then there's the ending. Very frustrating. I won't blow it for you, though. Just...don't see this movie unless you can swallow a silly ending. It will help, though, if you have been to Rome - just so that you can get your bearings as they run around the city. It may help, too, if you are Roman Catholic or are at least familiar with RC history and/or customs. Otherwise, well...

One of my all time favourites. Love the story, love the direction, love the energy. Man's suppression of his animal nature is a topic I enjoy exploring and this movie hits all the right notes.
