I'm not normally a big fan of zombie movies, but I loved this. Partially because it's not exactly a zombie movie, but a fresh spin at that genre. I'm so impressed with how much they were able to pull off with such a low budget (under $10 million). The sequence where Jim is walking around a deserted London looks absolutely amazing, because it's 100 % real and no studio set was used. The movie also gives hope to people like me by pulling something fantastic off with a low budget and using primarily XL1 cameras for shooting. Overall, an awesome film that I won't hesitate to recommend even if you're not a fan of the zombie genre. It's more like an action/drama set an a zombie movie environment, and it's very character based.

I think a lot of people have seen this so I'm not going to write much. If you haven't, you should go watch it. And for people who have seen it, don't ruin it for your friends who haven't.

First of all, I'd say that you should watch it twice before you even really try to have too much of an opinion about it. The first time I watched it, I just kind of sat at the screen and stared at it for a while...and I couldn't decide if I liked it, but it definitely stuck with me until I had to watch it again. The second time I loved it. The movie doesn't have like amazing special effects or anything, actually they look fairly cheap. But here's the thing, I thought it absolutely worked for this movie, and fit the style and feel of the movie perfect. One reason I really loved the movie, was just because of its mystery. I still don't even understand everything that happened, although I think that's how Richard Kelly wanted it. Actually, I still need to see the director's cut, I hear its not as vague as the theatrical version...anyways, beside the point.
The movie is one of the most unique I've ever seen, give it a chance. The acting, writing, and mind-blowing story and another great example of low budget filmmaking ($4.5 million!), make this movie awesome for me.

Blood Diamond
I thought this movie was fantastic.
Very powerful, great acting and writing, and very realistic. Leonardo does an amazing job with his character and from what I hear his accent was dead on. Jennifer Connelly is great too.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
Yes, it's really slow, and not super exciting, but its quite a cinematic work.
The acting is top-notch, and the music fits the mood of the movie perfectly. And really its quite an interesting story if you're like me and didn't know anything about Jesse James' assassination coming into it. The cinematography is just beautiful. Don't watch this if you're just looking to be thrilled, but do watch it if you can appreciate a slow-moving masterpiece.

The Darjeeling Limited
Another fantastic Wes Anderson film. Great characters, great story, great dialog, cinematography, acting, everything. I could really dissect this but I'm not going to. I'll just say these film has many layers, and you need to examine it lot closer if you think it's just some stupid comedy.
