This movie's title is misleading. While the main character is a former tennis player, and tennis plays a small role in the plot, do not believe this is all about the sport. Probably my first Woody Allen movie ever, I came away very impressed. I'll admit I watched this only for Scarlett but truly enjoyed it. Even despite the fact it takes place in Britain and opera is included throughout, I was on the edge til the end. It's a situation anyone of us could find ourselves in after a few bad decisions. You pray for the ending to go a certain way, but bad luck can turn good at any moment. I would suggest this to anyone, and while it starts slow the ending is well worth it.
It's impossible to describe this movie in a few short sentences. This is a great movie with a love story like I've never really seen before. The first 40 minutes just blew me away with classic subtle comedy from Murray. The last hour allows the relationship between Bob & Charlotte to grow, although you're rarely sure into what exactly. And the ending, well it's up to you to decide really. I recommend Robert Ebert's review.
Classic. Hilarious. Judd Apatow at his finest. All his future work should be compared to this. Slacks off a little at the end but loaded with classic quotes.
This is by far the most heartbreaking documentary, possibly movie in general, I have ever seen. The movie transitions seemlessly throughout. Why they're on their mission; background info on the dolphins and those dedicated to saving them; explanations of why dolphin meat can be so dangerous. It all leads up to the final, sickening finale. Through all of these volunteers hard work, we are shown a graphic, disturbing, first hand look at the slaughter of thousands of defenseless creatures. There is one final act by Mr. O'Barry in efforts to draw attention to this massacre, but the horror of it's preceding act is still hanging overhead. This is one of those rare movies that bothers the hell out of you when you watch it, and will do the same when you wake the next day. I hope it brings change.
Definitely a love story this generation can relate too. From the beginning and throughout there relationship it all feels familiar. I think everyone has either been in that situation or known a girl like Summer. Zooey (and the movie) are truly charming through most. Towards the end it falters a bit, but the last 3 minutes sealed it for me. Perfect ending to this movie!
