1
Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children 2005,  PG-13)
Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children
Those who don't know a good deal about the original game would probably get lost. Even so, there is a phenomenal movie here for the viewing. Those with a trained eye might even find some of the allusions to the Christian worldview throughout the film. It's not bull's eye, but still quite awesome...
2
The Incredibles 2004,  PG)
The Incredibles
Quite simply, the best superhero film to date.
3
King Kong 2005,  PG-13)
King Kong
An excellent take on a classic film. Might be a little long for some people, though.
4
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace 1999,  PG)
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace
It is amazing to think that the small, innocent-looking boy on the cover eventually becomes the most notorious villian in all sci-fi history.
5
The Exorcism of Emily Rose 2005,  PG-13)
The Exorcism of Emily Rose
Those who love a horror movie that is chilling and frightening instead of just gross will definately love this. The courtroom scenes add realism to the film, as it should since it's based on a true story.
6
Samurai Jack - The Premiere Movie 2001,  Unrated)
Samurai Jack - The Premiere Movie
The best Western action cartooon I've seen.
7
Samurai X - The Motion Picture (Rurôni Kenshin: Ishin shishi e no Requiem) 2001,  Unrated)
Samurai X - The Motion Picture (Rurôni Kenshin: Ishin shishi e no Requiem)
The OVA verision of Samurai X is better, but this is still very good...
8
Joseph - King of Dreams 2000,  PG)
Joseph - King of Dreams
Dreamworks should do more movies like this.
9
Digimon - The Movie 1999,  PG)
Digimon - The Movie
This blows any Pokemon movie out of the water.
10
Samurai X - Trust ,  Unrated)
11
Spirited Away 2001,  PG)
Spirited Away
Quite simply, one of Miyazaki-san's greatest works. Wrenching story, charming characters, and superb hand-drawn animation are drizzled over this masterpiece. It earned the Oscar award that it received to the inth degree. I'll never look at weird tunnels the same way again.
12
Holes 2003,  PG)
Holes
This is what happens when a GOOD book is made into a movie.
13
Fahrenheit 9/11 2004,  R)
Fahrenheit 9/11
This is definately an eye-opener. See if you think you can understand it.
14
The Last Samurai 2003,  R)
The Last Samurai
At first glance, putting Tom Cruise as a samurai seems preposterous, but he fit the bill nicely. An excellent work, I must say. One of the only war films that I actually like.
15
Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit 2005,  G)
Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
Even though Wallace and Grommit have been around for a few decades now, this film was actually a breath of fresh air amongst all the CGI celebrity-whore projects that Dreamworks has been shoving down our throats recently. This is the first time in years that I've actually laughed at all the little visual gags in an animated film. I found this movie to be quirky, clever, charming, and quaint. And "quaint" isn't a word you can use for to many animated movies nowadays.
16
Unleashed (Danny the Dog) 2005,  R)
Unleashed (Danny the Dog)
This movie can pretty much be summerized in five words: Jet Li as human pitbull. And who doesn't want that? Not to mention that the plot is really interesting as well.
17
Brother Bear 2003,  G)
Brother Bear
The superb artwork, animation, and soundtrack is what gives this movie such charm.
18
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II - The Secret of the Ooze 1991,  PG)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II - The Secret of the Ooze
The TMNT still live in the hearts of everyone who lived in the early 90's.
19
The Matrix 1999,  R)
The Matrix
"Doing a common thing uncommonly well brings success." This movie followed this idea, and oh, what a success it is.
20
Rurôni Kenshin: Seisô hen (Samurai X: Reflection) 2001,  Unrated)
Rurôni Kenshin: Seisô hen (Samurai X: Reflection)
This is a samurai film to be reckoned with. Poetic, graceful, moving, and action-packed. Words don't do this movie justice.
21
Lilo & Stitch 2003,  G)
Lilo & Stitch
Good funny sci-fi isn't something you find very often. (I'm talking to YOU, Spaceballs.) And this piece was an innovative take on that genre. The sequels aren't that great, though.
22
The Day After Tomorrow 2004,  PG-13)
The Day After Tomorrow
Disaster movies rock. This one is no exception. The digital effects were absolutely awe-inspiring.
23
Atlantis - The Lost Empire 2001,  PG)
Atlantis - The Lost Empire
This was more surprising than anything. An excellent piece of work.
24
MirrorMask 2005,  PG)
MirrorMask
Okay, so two sci-fi novelists are given $4 million to do a movie. Well, let's just say that in terms of visual quality, these guys know how to stretch a dollar until it screams. This is the kind of movie that I wish they would make a video game out of, just so I can explore the world to my heart's content. If these guys were given $100 million, our heads might explode. But if anyone can tell me the details of the plot, I'd really like to know...
25
The Passion of the Christ 2004,  R)
26
A.I. Artificial Intelligence 2001,  PG-13)
A.I. Artificial Intelligence
Steven Spielberg is globally recognized as the most successful filmmaker of all time. You need only to see this movie to realize that. This is easily Spielberg's finest work EVER.
The are so many moral themes here, it'll make your head spin (A Mother's love to a son, the selfishness of man, the pride of man, and many more). This film also made all the typical antagonists in sci-fi flicks the protagonists.
When I first heard of this, I thought it would be just another run-of-the-mill sci-fi action flick. Hot DANG, was I WRONG!!! Every person with a pulse should make an effort to see this movie. Really. SEE IT NOW!!!
