An epic tale about a man becoming a legend. Not many adventure movies reach the peak of cinematic elegance of this masterpiece. Actors Alec Guinness and Anthony Quinn make utterly believable arabs though they are english and american respectively. Peter O´Toole makes one of the best movie performance debuts ever if not the best.
A serial killer using unusual killing methods. An ending which truly chills you to the bone and is one of the most creative. A cut above most thrillers. Class Act.
The fellowship is Broken up in three, still the adventure moves on. More action that the first one. A few new and nicely developed characters. And walking trees.
One of the best actioners with a great premise of a terrorist and an FBI agent swapping faces to deadly results. John Woo´s best Hollywood creation, with blistering acting and pulse pounding action.
Now how did that quote really go? Many have said "Play it again Sam" but that is not really right, check out the movie to find out. And oh yeah, great film by the way.
Diaz´s first movie appearance with a crazy, goofy Carrey in a green, mean mask. This comic book to movie adaptation delivers the goods with Stanley Ipkiss (Carrey) finding a Mask and transforms in to a yellow suited green faced maniac who will stop at nothing to have a great time. His philosophy being "P.A.R.T.-Y? because I gotta"
A complicated mindbending noirish thriller about memory, the movie starts where it usually ends as a man tries topiece together what has happened to him.
Mr Raimi does it again, blending a very human story midst all the comic-book action and freaks. Okay so the new villains Sandman and Venom are not as charismatic as Doctor Octopus in the 2nd movie, but still gives Spidey a good challenge, Sandman is the more sympathetic than Eddie Brock. And Harry Osborn carries his querst even further by becoming the new Goblin, who this time is black and is more accessible than the robot-alike green suit his father had in the first one. Things are more complicated for Peter Parker when some black goo from space clings onto him and makes him fight his darker side putting a damp on his relationship with Mary Jane who he is trying to woe in marriage, things are complicated as Gwen Stacy (beaut Bryce Dallas Howard)comes into the mix. It is a great ride but takes care of its characters, the ending has its chunky parts, and well does run a recurring theme from the first two, yeah you´ll know when you see it. And of course Bruce Campbell shows up in another scene stealing cameo, which seems to be another doppelganger. This is one movie I will see again and again this summer.
To say this is a thriller is a bit off the mark, I would rather say this is a suspense comedy, it isn´t a full blown com,edy of course but it is one of Hitchcock´s funniest he ever did and it is also one filled with alot of effortless class. Cary Grant and the beautiful Grace Kelly spark off eachother. Cary Grant plays a retired thief John "The Cat" Robie but is immedietely blamed when jewellery is stolen and has to catch the copycat to clear himself, cat and mouse games ensue. To Catch a Thief is Hitchcock at his best and one of his most beautiful movies.
Finally saw this, I know there has been aton of hype about this movie and I can plainly say that is deserves all of it. It is satisfying from beginning with a brilliant and hilarious bank heist (worth ticketprice alone) to end in which...well I won´t tell but I can say it will rattle some cages. The cast is grat, and blah blah, I know you really want to hear about the Joker at this point... right? Well Heath Ledger (may he RIP) did a great job with the character, bringing many nuances and ticks, but I won´t compare this Joker to the Nicholson one as they are tweo completly different ones, as Jac´s was and older version. The movie has lots of style and class but doesn´t overthrow the depth and nuance of the movie as every facet is catered for, you might even discover new things with repeat viewings. And then of course we got the action, and that is very skilfully made and pretty realisty based, this is after all Batman in about as real as... well I guess the word I am looking for is realism, and it feels as though these things really could occur. The new batsuit is alot more advanced than the old one, and the other new gadgetry are really nice additions which I will not get into more about here, but sure would give Bond a run for his money. This is the best action movie so far this year and a contender to the best-ever comic book to screen adaptation which is, yup Batman Begins...
What, another masterpiece by Clint Eastwood? No can´t be, but yes this is another to add to Unforgiven, Mystic River, The Outlaw Josie Wales, etc. I was a bit sceptical when Angelina Jolie was going to be in it, but this is her best effort yet, she really puts herself out there and makes a very consistent characterisation. John Malkovich is superb too who last worked with Eastwood in In the Line of Fire. also the supporting cast is spot on. But the real star is Eastwood who directs with such richness and on top of his game in recreating a very believable late 1920´s with incredible eye for detail. He truly makes each scene memorable, not forgetting all the crew giving him all their best to bring an already classic film to screen. This really screams Oscar-contender.
