i guess this is the second German movie that i watched after der Untergang (this one's good but i need more...German.. not nazis). i must tell ya, this movie is a GREAT GREAT one because it gave me after effect as soon as i finished watching it, i didn't feel bored nada.. the characters seem to grow deeper along the movie, the story could be a true story according to history there..if u see it only in the first layer, it is depressing but after you listen carefully to the dialogues, it's a movie full of love, passion and they are nothing without sacrifice rite? there are surprises from each one of the characters.. for a debut movie, the director really got it going ON! saludos! uber allez..
if u ever feel lonely.. watch this movie.. then suddenly u won't feel that u're the only person who feels alone..and abandoned.. it's lonely when u're with someone but u cant seem to understand what he/she's speaking.. imagine u're alone in Japan or anywhere where u dont speak their language and neither do they speak urs.. all u need is a companion, older or younger is not a problem anymore, the thing is they can understand u! sounds desperate? well u would be in that situation.. i love sofia chose Japan to be the mainland of this lost movie.. i could almost smell the white bed sheets in the hotel scarlett's staying.. bill murray really seems OLD and adrifted from his prime time which is why he's needed in this movie.. one thing stucks in my head is 'what did Bob say to Charlotte at the end of this movie'... oh no... here i go again............ uh oh dont 4get to listen 2 Phoenix's Too Young, u're never too old to dance!
it's so sad.. being neutral to anything is actually the hardest thing to do in the world.. nobody wants you to be neutral.. either you take their side or else.. all is fair in love and war (i think it includes the post-war time as well.. heheh)
sometimes life is black and white, sometimes it's blurry, and some other times it's colorful just like this movie.. although most of times, it's just.. Dark.
recommended. it gets your heartbeat pumping faster because you really don't know where Zentropa will take you... ;)
blood is thicker than water.. it's not some kind of bullsh*t, it's true.. no matter how hard u get along with ur family members, no matter how they had hurt u, no matter how u've been misunderstood by 'em or on the other hand u misunderstand em completely..in the end is the family that matters... this movie is a must see family movie, especially when u thought that u need not a lovey dovey kind of story.. definitely this tells us about a dysfunctional american style family where each of its members seems to have a chance of winning some wacko of the year award.. then they're together in a journey they dont know that the end is not the destination, but the Means.. gay suicidal uncle, stop talking becoz of Nietzsche brother, hard worker so dont wanna end up as a loser father, a mother who glued them up 2gether, a grandfather who's a typical ol' in a time of anykind of war man.. and little girl who's sweet n all... no mouth kissing in this movie! grreat... it's rare though.. and i've never been grateful to hear the word 'F*ck' except for this movie.. u could always fix what's been broken, but nobody says it was easy okay...
hmm.. this is one HOT movie.. well, a bit kinda gross if u start to think about tendencies to become paedophiliac.. hahaha.. this movie is about Journey.. to place where no one knows exist, including the travellers themselves.. Julio n Tenoch have been bestfriends for a long time without acknowledging their fate would suddenly change when they meet Luisa, a married woman, ill (no one knows except her), and hurt for her husband been sleeping with another women.. the dialogues are in spanish, so for whatever reason it sounds sexy to me haha.. in the car they talk about charrolastra, friendship, who f*cked whose gf, anything comes to mind.. and more secrets reveal from each other except Luisa.. she's like a catalyst of those two youngsters. Heaven's Mouth, boca del paradiso, is real eventually... i envy them for finding the most beautiful beach in life... the ending is great too.. not happy for me, but it's definitely naturally possible... many sex scenes, nude cute guyz haha.. Eagle eye cherry plays cover of To Love Somebody in its ost.. cool! and marco antonio solis' si no te hubieras ido really put the steamy mood....and it hurt.
i think c. dicken would probably be screaming from his grave to find his classic time story turned into a depressing modern love story colored in green heehee.. well, i haven't read the book yet but i guess the feeling would be much different than understanding the social gap theme from watching this movie.. anw i still heart the movie for its beauty, how it tells a story about a boy who falls in love with a girl n keep lovin her eventho he's hurt by her over n over again..the social gap's not really clearly shown, but i dont know why NOT? ethan hawke fits for the role clumsy but sincere Finn.. gwyneth paltrow perfectly roles out icy cold Estella.. DKNY green wardrobe totally makes everybody green in envy.. and who could forget the way the characters dance to 'besame mucho' by cesaria evora?? verrry grrreat soundtrack! have one of ur own. and dance urself to it...
a very strong movie. strong cinematography.. strong characters.. strong plot.. strong actors.. this movie is a journey to life of Frida Kahlo, the talented painter with the most emotional way expressing her feeling.. frida kahlo has a herstory that is extraordinary, i'm amazed that she could get thru her life until the death comes.. with the accident, her marriage to a Panzon - the endless affairs from dieguito esp. with her own sister (talk bout betrayal here), her mother's death, her physical disablity..her affair with Leon Trotsky (wow) and.. her misscarriage which the most painful time for her.. and all that she felt, being expressed to her beautiful n super honest paintings.. it hurts to see them.. salmita as Kahlo here is perrrfect, she acts naturally and makes frida comes to life.. molina fits the panzon, the jerk, but his true love is only for Frida.. my most memorable scene was when frida cut her hair short with a background song 'paloma negra' the soundtracks are born to be played in this movie.. la bruja (this is vulgar), la llorona, alcoba azul... oh chavela vargaz n lila downs, a mi me gustan nosotras.. su voz... nos quiero.. on d top of it all, u wont regret watching this movie.
sometimes u'd think "oh how my life would be much much easier if i could erase some of my bad memories..', well the world isnt that fair tho.. and even u do have a way to erase them, dont u ever underestimate the power of human brain.. dont u ever.. see, Clementine? no matter how hard u tried.. u cant escape ur past... its something u had to deal with, not to run from (yea.. who am i to bluff?).. this movie at first time watching seems to give a major headache and confused me but when i get a second chance to see it with my brain clear from smoke, i just realized how beautiful this movie is.. and jim carrey + k. winslet are the best example of couple who has been thru ups n downs along d line.. romantic but not cheap, tragic also but not that dramatic.. its all in ur mind, yeah.. and love, no one could escape from love.. anw when u break up with ur lover, erase his phone number or burn his pictures, not from ur memory, because someday maybe u'll Need him/her again, so pragmatic huh.. and just like Beck sang in the end ' everybody's gotta learn sometime..', learn to accept i assume :)
what more can i say? what more can i ask? i have romeo here, a dreamy one, the perfect one.. a childish prince charming with sweet talk smells like a rose, whats in a name, really.. if its romeo or leo, i dont care hehehe.. well thats not d point, this glam version of shakespeare's romance proves that the word modern could combine with classic.. and they had a son named Beautiful. with the story which everyone already knew its kinda hard to make something different but luhrmann made it, with help from danes' naivete to leo's spells.. ooh.. splendid! a dream for every teens who watch this.. i still cant forget the aquarium scene where romeo n juliet met for the 1st time, kissing u boyyy... damn u des'ree! no swords, welcome firegun.. no tights, welcome samoan t shirts.. but hey they still use the ol' english, my only love sprung from my only hate, too early seen unknown and its known too late (HA! i still remembered the lines..), great chemistry, great cinematography for that time, great costumes anddddd GREAT triple double multiple OST.. radiohead's talk show host when romeo's all alone, young hearts run free when dancing extravagantly... u do that romeo! my go go romeo.... ooo... a modernized classic that will be a classic someday
dear dear... hear hear.. this movie is sooo goood i almost went crazy when it's ended.. huu i wish there was mooore.. i wish it was longer.. or i could see how each characters's lives after the ending.. hahaha.. this movie is Oscar masterpiece from w.allen.. you know what actually i did hate him since his infamous affair with his adopted daughter, n i took farrow's side.. but when i saw this movie, i was just amazed by the way his brain works, i cant tell exactly because i think that he has some kind of logic that other people dont get easily.. allen plays the role of an unusual annoying when speaking guy while keaton plays a cool hippie n quirky woman, she's so pretty there n soo young.. the story flows from the very start, no pushy pushy.. it's smooth n feels that u feel how the characters feel too.. what i liked the most bout this movie is how the dialogues go, what you hear is not what u get haha.. n la dee da la la.. whattteeff iss daat?? plus, keaton's wardrobe is heavenly.. i wish i was living at that time...
any one interested in Indian tradition esp. about the women, should look up 2 this movie.. altho this happened circa 1930, but still worthy to learn something about women's rights in society generally.. this is a love story that goes beyond romeo n juliet, with all the status, the past, the rights and the rules.. Kalyani n Narayan are such a beautiful couple, they are young, pretty, and good soul-ed.. but Kalyani is a widow, ok maybe u'll go "so what??".. no way jose, it's harder than u imagined, its complicated to be happy as a widow then (or maybe, now too..). Kalyani n Narayan didnt get their happy ending, but surely they had a poetry that describes their story.. Chuyia the young widow (well, so young, 8 yrs, it hurts) has her time of play eventho she's being played too until gratefuly she's escaped from ashram (for me it's mere like a prison.. made by man domination) by the nice Didi... i almost cried watching this movie and the dialogue between Kalyani-Narayan, Didi-guru made me questioning about my faith n desire... girls, john abraham is hot hot hot.. so is lisa ray even when she went 'crew cut', still radiant...
i really hated the heroine.. but somehow i felt that she was me and i am her.. when u're dying u're supposed to know every little things that u need to do.. in this case, she chose to enjoy herself but maybe not in a many pleasant ways for others.. it's true tho she's a selfish dying b*tch but she only wants to have a last worldly touch of fun for god's sake.. well this movie's a bit boring and flat.. my fave scenes were when she records future messages for her kids.. dont forget, she's only 23 . and dying..
jesse n celine are together again doing their adventure along the city of love.. this time is shorter, Thank god.., but the conversations are still enchanting.. they're grown ups now but they still have that naivete anyone couldnt describe.. julie delpy's acting is more polished than before but sad to say, hawke's not yet.. i loved loved delpy's singing some quirky love songs hahaha.. and The Ending, u wont be able to sleep after watching it.. sh*t. in a good way :D
this movie, i must say, VERY FRESH.. full of youth fireworks.. full of passion.. dreams.. and of course, spontaneous acts, impulsive maybe.. heehee.. the story was everyone's dream, well everyone's in a faraway land from home.. jesse n celine, no couple would be more intertwined than them.. i wish i had that kind of experience.. to be honest, i fell asleep when i first watching it due to exhaustion but when i watched it again for d second time it was s'wonderful s'marvelous.. i love surprise n chance works in this movie, i love how the characters' typical confused n curious youngsters conversation go, i love how awkwardness and all feels soo natural.. the poetry from Auden n the homeless street messy tuxedo-ed guy were very romantic.. and i treasure that the end is promising altho i felt kinda empty when the movie ends.. watch this n u'll have one helluva journey urself :)
she is one helluva Mad bride.. vengeange is a source of power that can turn the world upside down... some said that this movie is a trash, a rubbish.. well, i am not one of em.. i really enjoyed this movie, from the unrealistic comic-al twisted story 'typical of tarantino' to the bruce lee's costumes (plus those asics.. god, i'd like to kill bill for that shoes ok).. never knew that seeing bloodshed would be so fun -in black n white- hahaha.. also crazy crazy.. i loved the action scenes n i didnt consider myself as a action junkie so it's so rare, rite.. uma's superb, lucy liu's my fave - oren ishii-, n go go yubari -that pretty school b*tch, u GO girl-. nuff said.. great soundtrax too.. get it while its hot, peepz..
what can i say about this unrealistic movie?? the story's weird.. it's probably just a daydream fantasy from a guy who's desperately tryin to win an out-of-reach gal.. anw, i hate to tell but i cried (sobbing actually) as the film reached its climax.. eventho as i said first this movie was so unreal, but it's simple n touching.. richie ren u're really a tearjerker specialist, arent u?? cecilia cheung's so pretty, sweet, and everything nice.. anw i cant take their names, Onion n Autumn, hello, cheesy alerttt.. whatev', this movie is hopelessly romantic plus with soundtracks like Ge Ni Xing Fu (give u happy) sung by richie ren himself, no wonder suddenly u'll fly to Polaris too...
i had no idea who Petter Sellers really was when i accidentally watched this movie..but hey Geoffrey Rush was playin, so i thought he must be good and i was rite, he's purrfect as Sellers, the man with amount of talents, the man that u'd love n hate at d same time, the man that cant think of anything except himself but everyone seems to care for him.. i love how the scenes go from one to another.. its like watching a movie inside a Bigger movie..its a bit confusing but i still enjoyed it to the last dot. the longer this movie run, u'll get to know how complicated Sellers was n understand that he just wanted to being There... hmm maybe i should start hunting Sellers' movies.. cant wait!
HECTORRRR... when achilles screams 'hector' for like many times, thats one of the best scene i saw in this movie.. along with men in short skirts.. sorry, brad pitt, i love ur character, achilles, but you're in d real world is too.. hunky.. too sexy.. i cant see a hero inside u.. but i saw it in Hector! eric bana's giving an outstanding performance.. he's the one i am gonna turn myself to when i have a major problem like Helen.. orlando bloom's such a sissy good lovin boy, a spoilt prince who prioritize romantic love above all, including..y'know, his father, his family, and his country for example.. who's responsible for that? no, not Paris, it's Hector and trojan people... suddenly love is the one that brings war... ironic. one super good epic movie.. you will remember it just like Groban sings...
finally, u get to see from both sides or maybe more sides than before in this Holy War story.. i always love historic movie with a touch of romance of course..usually i didnt like orlando bloom but in this movie i fancy him much.. eventho the war scenes are less confincing than some of other war movies, there are some other insights that u could learn ..the costumes are great.. dont forget Salahaddin..gotta love his style... may peace be upon you.
i wish i was one of them... with all the poetry.. the quotations.. the gay thing.. the books.. the history of the world.. the literature.. absurdity about how to accept things unacceptable in common society.. this is a story about how to live.. and how to survive... thru education.. i'm not talkin about curriculum or something, but what's learned from different kinds of teaching from different kinds of teachers too.. i love how the 'play' effect makes everthing more interesting.. i love how they speak, they express, they move.. it's just.. very very attractive.. and active too.. God! must love the energy! i fancy their accents and their choice of music... sooo British. and 80s! i love love love Posner! he's soo sweet, cute, gay, and all.. the most important is there's something sincere inside him.. this movie is the one which i wont get bored eventho i watch it for a thousand times haha
youth in late 80s or early 90s is my dream... ah, i am a millenium baby.. *sigh* i love the unique idealism in every character (my fave is TROy played by ethan hawke, hmm..rare breed i must say) , love the spirit, love the power, never the powder, they're genuine with all the mistakes they made.. overall, all we, young people need, is a couple of smokes, a cup of coffee and a little bit coversation. SMART.. good timing too tho.. incredible soundtracks! from my sharona to u2.. if u're still young, this is a MUst see film!
finally i've watched this when i was busy trying to sleep but failed, huh! this movie is a mix between reality (history) and fantasy, for me, making movie like this is a hard thing to do but Guillermo del Toro proved that it's possible, he succeeded. i really loved this movie coz this is a rare kind which gave me a strange feeling after i watched it, i was just amazed and sat still for a while listening to the ending score.. it shakes me.. in a mysterious way i couldn't describe.. i love that this movie has history in it (so i knew more about spain!), but i was hoping that i'd see El Fauno more than it's appeared in the movie.. the cast is incredible.. Sergi Lopez really makes Capitano Vidal comes to life (i really hate him! period.), Maribel Verdu makes us feel what's going on inside her as Mercedes (u wont find the sexiness like in Y tu Mama Tambien, which is a good thing that proves she can really act), Ariadna Gil as a dilemmatic fragile mother whose loneliness makes her fall for a Bad man.. those three are different in their main characteristics but there is a clear similarity in them : they don't believe in magic or fairy tales no more. they're adults. ok... the key here is Ofelia, played by Ivana Baquero who's really pretty and surely complicated for her own age (one friend even said that Ofelia's suffering from schizophrenia!).. she believes in every little children believe : magic, fantasy, and all.. The Pan doesnt do much indeed.. but the tasks he gave to Ofelia is a journey similar to what Guerilleros tried to do during the war : the battle between good n evil. i assumed that the journey Ofelia gone thru is some kind of analogy for the reality happening at the time.. afterall some times there are no boundaries between what is real and what isn't.. for me why the adults most times can't see what children see is because they've lost their sense of innocence.. they've forgotten the great power of it.. hmm the ending is, unpredictable in my opinion.. anw along the movie, i felt that something was missing but i didnt exactly know What was missing... but after i reached the end and absorbing all those weird feelings i experience, now i know what was missing : MY innocence. :)
another rare movie that successfully makes me sit still and just glad of the thing called 'silence'.. this is a silent movie, but it doesn't mean it can't speak.. it speaks anything words cannot explain, it speaks through the muteness of the characters, it speaks through every single mundane movements, it speaks through eyes, through weeping, smile, touch, everything besides words.. i'm glad i watched this movie because i considered myself as a non-stop talking person and although i knew that i get tired of it, i just couldn't stop..well, this movie is a warm reminder that silence is too, important..humans mostly pay attention to what's been said but not what's been done, this movie make me realize, there are many other ways to communicate our intention to other people, is it Love? is it anger? jealousy? perkiness? mocking? it's romantic you know when action speaks louder than words, yeah, esp when it's for showing love.. this movie's an original piece, like no other..
the story's unique, a bit unrealistic i must say but strangely, i didn't give a damn, i enjoyed all the impossibilities this movie offers me.. basically it's a love story that involves loneliness, misunderstanding, acceptance, sacrifice, longing, and all.. but there's too, values of fairness, of humanity, of injustice, all the general ideas.. all had been told with lots of metaphorical portraits in life.. the characters are well developed, you could feel what they've been through..
the arabic song (Gafsa by natacha atlas) is played over and over again in this movie, it's odd, right, to have arabian music in a korean movie? but it doesn't matter where does the song from? it's the feeling, the soul of the song that speaks.. and it did, beautifully, ya habibi.. my love.. it gives a mystical feel, a magical scent.. from a land far far away... far from reality, from everyday lives.. and to accompany a strong silence this movie creates (just like in arabian desert night, imho), it is such a divine combination.
you could watch this movie for more than once to understand more what it's really supposed to say to the watchers.. there are a lot of scenes that i like in particular but i don't want to tell you, because i want you to see with your own eyes and maybe you can see what i haven't noticed before.. and, just like it's said at the end, it's hard to tell whether your life is a reality or a dream.. and for me, this movie is like a dream, a sweet dream...
i don't care what other people think about this movie, the thing is.. I LOVE IT, freakin' crazy LOVE it.. from the very start, i just knew that i'd fancy this movie so much.. usually, i don't enjoy movie with homosexuality stuffs but here, it amazed me.. maybe because it's not vulgar, it's rather really really sensual..wow.. and this movie didn't try too hard so it'd exploit the relationship between two young women, it's not merely sexual, it's emotional, it's liberating.. and, God, who wouldn't fall for Mylene Jampanoi's icy grey eyes? she's so beautiful and sensual but in this movie, she needs more of another expressions haha.. xiao ran li is pretty cute too, her fearful expression is convincing as a true typical chinese girl born in patriarch family. i love the setting, i don't know if it's set in china or other place but it's quite ok.. the ending is unpredictable to me.. i wanted to give this movie full five stars but i didn't because it could be longer and deeper in terms of characters development.. 4 and a half stars is showing something, rite.. well.. i'm a sucka for love..
sometimes i feel i am Julia roberts' character in this movie.. i am not sweet.. i am backstabbing b*tch, green with envy.. and i admit, i hate Hate some girls like diaz's role.. well, at the end, she still has a girl's bestfriend beside diamonds, a gay guy ;)
the title 'inside i'm dancing' is pretty much a poetic way to say about what Rory O'Shea is feeling his whole life.. this is the story about disabled people (or people with special needs) who deserve a same kind of life like any man who wants to live his life to the fullest.. his Own life.. but, as you know it, sometimes people have judged you before they understand you, and so have you!.. and it doesn't make the struggle to be on your own any easier..
great performances by James McAvoy, Steven Robertson, and Romola Garai.. the interaction between Rory and Michael is what i call true friends for life..
all i can say for now is you won't waste your time watching this movie, this is a life-changing experience.. you'll be grateful that you can do every littlest things without frequent helps from others..
again and again.. will ferrell never ever fails to make me cry the tears of joy.. plus, here, we got Jon Heder, which surprisingly could 'connect' with ferrell throughout this ridiculous movie.. double treats, anyone?
'as if figure skating wasn't gay enough', yeah, as if.. this is a story of history in the making, i've never seen such thing before (in movies and in reality), male-male pairs figure skating. well, go figure when one is ferrell and the other is heder. you don't wanna miss a thing.. no, you don't. :D
this one's got more slapstick jokes than talladega nights (correct me if i'm wrong), but milder in the area of weird/innovative vocabularies.. ferrell-less.. the conflicts in this movie seem so easy to be solved, it's almost impossible.. (well, talking about impossibility, i think that word's been left out from this movie hahaha)
what i always love from comedies with will ferrell in it is the other casts have the same level of comedy as his. so, everything works well.. amy poehler + will arnett is really funny!!!!! (from cowboy to bling to jfk-miss monroe to incest couple? nice....)
anyway, i enjoyed this movie so much, i think i could watch it over n over again.. i'm sorry if you think i had a bad taste, but some times as some people say, everything bad is good for you. hahaha..
