Jacob's Ladder
Tim Robbins has always been a favorite actor of mine. I blame TBS for their constant running of The Shawshank Redemption. Who hasn't stayed in on a Sunday to watch that movie back to back to back?
I was intrigued to finally see the movie that inspired the most bizarre video game I had ever played, "Silent Hill". Just like his more commercially succesful role in The Shawshank Redemption, Robbins tackles a character that many in our society would rather forget. Instead of playing an innocent man behind bars, Robbins is a delusional Vietnam Vet. He shines in this dark role. The visuals are terrifying. I highly recommend watching this movie in the dark.

Moulin Rouge! 2001,  PG-13)
Moulin Rouge!
Nicole Kidman deserved an Oscar for this film. The love story of the courtesan Satine and Christian, a penniless writer, will haunt you. I absolutely loved the film being set during the idealistic Bohemian Revolution. Who doesn't want to live for truth, beauty, freedom, and love? By far, this is Baz Lehrman's best work.

Scent of a Woman 1992,  R)
Scent of a Woman
It kills me that I know so many people that have not seen this masterpiece. You say Al Pacino and everyone thinks Tony Montana. But his Oscar winning role as The Colonel in this film is by far the BEST acting of his amazingly talented career. The complex character of The Colonel allows Pacino to show the audience every facet; from suave ladies man to a blind vet terrified to live. At times this movie is so emotional it's painful to watch. Please, do yourself a favor and rent Scent of a Woman.

Anchorman - The Legend Of Ron Burgundy 2004,  PG-13)
Anchorman - The Legend Of Ron Burgundy
Ron Burgandy is the balls. I love this movie for making me want to live in San Diego in the 70s; a destination that no one would ever turn into a fantasy. That is the genius of Will Ferrell. He makes whatever he's doing look cool.

Heathers 1988,  R)
Heathers
Heathers made me buy a croquet set. I will love this movie forever just for that.
Truly, if you want to see a movie where some of the most famous has-beens act out a well written script, don't miss Heathers. Just don't try and read Moby Dick afterwards, that book is still full of Fail.
