  slashedupinsanity's Rating My Rating
1
The Phantom of the Opera 2005,  PG-13)
The Phantom of the Opera
What a beautiful vision to accompany the fabulous novel, and musical...
2
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl 2003,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Though this is a series, I've only included the first one in my favourites- which was the best, anyways. An explaination is not needed.
3
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone 2001,  PG)
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Though this is a part of a series, I'm including only the first - though technically, they get better as they go

Aww Harry is so kawaii....
4
Diary of a Mad Black Woman 2005,  PG-13)
Diary of a Mad Black Woman
Tyler Perry seemed to put his best work in this remake of his play. I laugh everytime I see Madea in the scene... and at the beautiful conclusion in the church, my eyes fill with happy little tears...
5
Interview with the Vampire 1994,  R)
Interview with the Vampire
Ah, I remember the first time I watched this film... a dear friend showed it to me, introducing me to the brilliant Anne Rice... This film explores the beauty of her lives, brief, and with possibility... in the viewpoint of the immortal (and possibly damned) vampires of the ages. This film, along with the novel, is the reason for the thousands of books written yearly over the subject of vampires... but none can compare to this piece of literature.
6
Moon Child 2004,  Unrated)
Moon Child
Gackt, Hyde, and a vampire/gang movie that manages to look past romance and focus on other important themes. After this film, you will always be brough back into the moment of its climax when hearing the serenading voices of these two talents ~Orenji no Taiyou~
7
The Nightmare Before Christmas 1993,  PG)
The Nightmare Before Christmas
It would be an absolute shame to leave this Tim Burton piece out of my list! Who could ever forget Jack's spidery limbs, the witty lyrics of Danny Elfman... and the very magic of this clayamation...?
8
Edward Scissorhands 1990,  PG-13)
Edward Scissorhands
Another Tim Burton classic, priceless in its position in movie history... and so very original...
9
Gravitation: Lyrics of Love 2005,  Unrated)
Gravitation: Lyrics of Love
I just couldn't leave this one out! This lovingly made for fans OVA didn't disappoint (unless you were counting the English dub) I bought it at full retail price, and yet, I feel like it was absolutely worth the $30... Just to see Yuki in his thong,.. Tohma's bunny facade... Shuichi all sexed... Ryuichi and Kumagoro... and the great soundtrack ~that I also had to get...~ It's such a wonderful way to conclude the series when you sadly reached the end
10
Ringu (Ring) 1998,  Unrated)
Ringu (Ring)
The deaths weren't as gory (as opposed to its American counterpart) as I was hoping but I enjoyed the adorable Sadako. A fairly good movie considering that my brother wanted to watch it and can't read subs fast enough so even me reading them to him - he STILL liked the movie =D
11
Ringu 2 (Ring 2) 1999,  Unrated)
Ringu 2 (Ring 2)
WTF... A worthwhile sequel that adds on to the story? UNHEARD OF! But, yet, here it is... building onto the ghastly tale of Sadako...
12
Spider-Man 2002,  PG-13)
Spider-Man
Again, I left the rest out of favourites... it seemed redundant. But, despite the fact that it doesn't follow its comic, I feel like it still manages to work well... It can be considered the first American comic that I found myself following.

SPIDERMAN!!!!
13
Girl, Interrupted 1999,  R)
Girl, Interrupted
Winoma Ryder and Angelina Jolie. Enough said. (not really...) This film really sets itself apart by being so... realistic. It wasn't a feel-good kind of film, which I tend to like. It was the cold, hard facts - a woman's stay in a mental institution and the type of people she would encounter. So very memorable is Whoopi Goldberg's biting remark to Ryder mid-way through the movie... she was a girl driving herself crazy... which really struck me...
14
The Devil's Advocate 1997,  R)
The Devil's Advocate
Here's one of those films that can get you thinking. But I can't exactly give a review, or I will give away some of the plot... so you'll just have to see it
15
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street 2007,  R)
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Tim Burton, rated R. Nothing held back as Sweeney thrusts his blades into those who would moralize <3 His revenge, set to musique and with Helena Bonham Carter and Alan Rickman..... are you sure I haven't died and gone to a twisted heaven?
16
Secret Window 2004,  PG-13)
Secret Window
I love Johnny, the main reason I bought the movie. Sadly, my aunt told me the entire plot before I got my hands on it, but, guess what... I STILL LOVED IT!! It's based off a Stephen King novel... and murder is involved and blood... ooo blood... so I deem it one of the best movies ever... In fact, anything Johnny takes a role in manages to be good. =3
17
Jump Tomorrow (Life: A User's Manual) 2001,  PG)
Jump Tomorrow (Life: A User's Manual)
We got to watch this is French class! It's funny and fairly clean! The humor borders on the Napolean Dynamite type, but there's something charming about it. I love Gerald<3 I wish I could find this movie again...
18
Brokeback Mountain 2005,  R)
Brokeback Mountain
I make this one of my favourite movies - not #1, for lack of music xD

Both actors did incredibly well and many kudos for a good well done. With every expression they make, every word they spoke, I was hooked into the storyline - breathless to find if they would truly be together past Brokeback Mountain.

And gods, I loved the character, Jack.

There was an important leçon in there - love knows no boundaries. [I swear that's a bible verse too.] Both men become involved with women they don't love, have children, and start a family; while longing for the other. Society pits against it - they're too scared. So they'll hide in the shadows and never be happy until they can accept what happened between them... As a female, my heart jumps in my throat at the pure romance...

Tons and many kudos!

21 2008,  PG-13)
21
I found something charming about this movie that I felt should be in this list. It was one of those movies that had my mind whirling, which is such an exhilarating feeling...
20
Dostana 2008,  R)
Dostana
There was nothing lacking in this movie. It was funny, it was engaging, it had a great score and some wonderful actors/actresses.

This movie (to me) felt like a "I Now Prounounce You Chuck and Larry" Bollywood version... except it was sexy... and actually funny... and had a plot...

I would recommend this movie to anyone!
21
Donnie Darko 2001,  R)
Donnie Darko
Fantastic!! I really loved the ending, it being the thing that pulls all the bizzare events together to a wonderful story <3
22
Fight Club 1999,  R)
Fight Club
Another one of those fabulous cult films... I'm dying to watch it again at this moment... I just love that Helana Bonham Carter was in it... I just... love her...
23
Hard Candy 2005,  R)
Hard Candy
Ellen Page pre-Juno, turning around the idea of internet dating to a completely different view. As in, what if a girl drugs an older guy...? Brillant film. This actress is... amazing.
24
The Devil's Rejects 2005,  R)
The Devil's Rejects
I was lucky to find this free while it was on On Demand during Halloween. I stayed up all night, enjoying for a moment the sadisic crew... As they fled for their lives. Beyond the madness, who could ever forget "Tutti fuckin' frutti"?
25
Bolt 2008,  PG)
Bolt
Can I just say how impressed I was on this movie? Not only the animation - which just gets better and better, but the plot-line! Oh, the plot-line! How epic! And amazing job on the characterization! I haven't been this impressed on an animated film, let alone any, for awhile now. I don't even care that Miley is in it... she is FABULOUS on her role - professional, which was all that was required. I'm going to buy this movie....
26
Pitch Black 2000,  R)
Pitch Black
The epitome of bad ass - demonstrated by Vin Diesel. No one does it better. I watched this entire trilogy in one night, way in the wee hours with my brother... and as I sat there, eyes drooping, I just had to keep watching.
27
Stargate 1994,  PG-13)
Stargate
Have I ever told you guys how mudh I love this movie - and the series that follows? It's brilliance unmatched.
28
Suicide Kings 1997,  R)
Suicide Kings
As I watch it again, I can't help but thinking over and over "I love this movie". And more importantly... "I love Christopher Walken"
29
Kung Pow! Enter the Fist 2002,  PG-13)
Kung Pow! Enter the Fist
Absolutely hilarious - and I got to watch it with the greatest friends ever with nothing lacking whatsoever. I mean, come on, random on-the-spot songs?! And 8etty - as a villian?! And "I Like 8ig 8utts" playing?! Ahhh, comedy...
