Three gunslingers competing to find a fortune in buried Confederate gold amid the violent chaos of gunfights, hangings, Civil War battles, and prison camps...
The film is regarded as a classic. It remains one of the most popular and well known westerns and is one of the greatest of its genre...Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach are UNFORGETABLE!!!
An ex-special forces bodyguard's revenge on a Mexican kidnapping gang that abducts a nine-year-old girl he was hired to protect...an awesome cast and a fantastic imagery...A MUST SEE!!!
Live, love and get even no matter what...a dark comedy about a wealthy couple with a seemingly perfect marriage. He is a successful lawyer and his wife is building her own catering business. When their marriage begins to fall apart, material possessions become the center of an outrageous and bitter divorce battle...2 thumbs way up...Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner were perfect...!
Raiders of the Lost Ark was a technological triumph for the era but I think it's the movie's ability to enduce and evoke this, delirious and ingenious sense of humor in pileing one incident upon another in an inexhaustible series of inventions that ultimately makes it one of the greatest and most stylish adventure movies evr made...2 thumbs up! :]
I believe the critics considered it..."one of the greatest Bruised Forearm Movies ever made..."...what more is there to be said lol...although on a personal note it's thought that Temple of Doom was focused on effects to a higher degree than either Raiders of the Lost Ark or Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade...
A historical drama film that shows the quiet heroism of one man...hailed as an African Schindler's List. Both movies portray a man who uses his political position, social skills and quick wit to rescue thousands of lives from a holocaust...fathomlessly brilliant and heartwrenching!!! If I had 2 extra thumbs, it would be 4 thumbs up, for real...!
Loved every minute of it...the dialogue was great, the cast, a great fit, loved em all...
The Morally ambiguous Man With No Name, the individual character personalities that make up these two mafioso style families and I especially liked the coffin maker Piripero, he added a nice touch of humour to the film... The story was all around a good one, short and sweet...it's a great film...2 thumbs up...
Vincent Price...enough said... This classic horror film stars Vincent Price as eccentric millionaire Fredrick Loren. He and his fourth wife, Annabelle, have invited five people to the house for a "Haunted House" party. Whoever stays in the house for one night will earn ten thousand dollars. As the night progresses, all the guests are trapped inside the house with ghosts, murderers, and other terrors...a great find...
"You probably heard we ain't in the prisoner-takin' business; we in the killin' Nazi business. And cousin, Business is a-boomin'." Its been a while since I watched anything with subtitles, so my eyes were a bit tired :) but otherwise o.k., which I'm glad for because this is not a movie you can comment on unless you've seen it twice :) "Inglourious Basterds" is an epic by its own right, granted its a complete farce of World War II with no real moral standing, but...it's genius...in a Buster Keaton kinda way. And by the by, not ashamed to admit this but truth be told I didn't even know who Christoph Waltz was until this movie, but this performance alone has me fishing to find his previous movies, I mean he was fantastic! If no other member of this cast he stole the show...and ran with it :) If that's not an Oscar nod, then I don't know what will be worthy enough.
Stellar...Hugo Weaving was brilliant!...The character was very unique, very orginal...the script, very well written and the plot uniquely rendering, a government so powerful they have instilled a fear in the citizens of the entire country they govern,...a must see...!
A film that explores themes of romantic and paternal love, freedom, sexuality, beauty, self-liberation, existentialism, the search for happiness, and family against the backdrop of modern American suburbia.
The story of an under-appreciated boxing trainer, his elusive past and his quest for atonement in helping an underdog amateur female boxer (the film's title character) achieve her fragile dream of becoming a professional...a very moving story...2 thumbs up...
There aren't words, really...just...fantastic.
It's noir-ish moral ambiguity and atmosphere make for an absolute masterpiece...2 thumbs, way, way up!!!
As to why Roland Emmerich is always looking to destroy the world and kill us all...I don't have the foggiest, but damn he's good at it :))). Review pending...
I thought this second installment better than the first simple because the characters actually talk to one another here rather than the stilted samurai speak used in the first film...but all around both film's had strong performances, tight knit action scenes and a choice score to back it all up.
"Two hours and 20 minutes of escapism that once again makes the movies safe for guilt-free fun." ;]...well at least it was for me lol...one of the few times in hollywood history where the sequal didn't suck, but actually surpassed the orginal...I adore the darkness in its depiction of the crew of the Flying Dutchman and its cliffhanger and the unbelievable surprise that the completely computer-generated Davy Jones and his crew turned out to be so realistic that some (including me, obviuosly) mistakenly identified Nighy and his fellow co-actors as wearing prosthetic makeup...awesome :! 2 thumbs up...
A quirky and dark comedy "Just Buried" is quite fulfilling; great acting, a clever script and creepily beautiful sets...who knew there are parts of Canada that looked so...post Transylvanian...I'm opting to move ;). Oliver (Jay Baruchel) is destined for an uneventful life... until the day he and his brother Jackie breeze into town to attend the funeral of their estranged father. To everyone's bewilderment, Oliver inherits his father's estate...a funeral home, but how? Why would a never there father actually leave everything he loved to the kid he didn't give the time of day to? Well, his father Rollie (Jeremy Akerman) has always been a gambling man...he writes the names of all the significant people in his life on a make shift game show style wheel...taking it for a spin it lands on Oly's name. Hmmm. His father though is none the less convinced that Oly can bring the funeral home back to it's former glory. Not really understanding the meaning behind the thought, Oliver learns shortly after from the handyman Henry (Graham Greene) that the home is on the verge of bankruptcy. With all of this coming to pass all to suddenly Oly seeks out solace, evidently thinking to find it in Roberta (Rose Byrne), a bewitching mortician that has worked with his father for years. Unfortunately, that night his life gets increasingly complicated when he takes a drunken drive with Roberta and collides with a hiker...some angry Swiss guy. Roberta cleverly disguises the fatality as an accident, providing Oliver with his first paying customer and launching the duo on a merciless killing spree that evolves from accidental to intentional. As they scramble to stay out of jail and keep the funeral home in business, the body count rises steeply and their victims expire in increasingly bizarre and brutal "accidents", all the while trying to remain one step ahead of the local law (Roberta's father, Chief of Police Knickle, and her boyfriend, Constable Richmond)...
This was not what I expected, but I learned to love it ;). There are times in this movie when you just wanna hug yourself because for a little while your reassured of your belief in the depth of the human soul... And then the movie ends & reality comes crashing back onto you...people are assholes & your gonna be waiting a while for the whole 'true love' bit. But...it's the characters "lovability" that you can't really get around...
