West Side Story 1961,  PG)
West Side Story
One of my all-time favorite movies. This was the first film that made me love film or really pay attention to it. I remember sitting in my music class after it was over thinking how beautiful the whole thing was, even though the ending was not the happy one my normal 13 year old self would have wanted. But it was perfect. This will forever remain one of my favorite films.
2
Sunset Boulevard 1950,  Unrated)
Sunset Boulevard
This is one of the greatest movies I've ever had the pleasure of viewing. It has been and remains one of the few movies that changed the way I watch film and gave me reason to love film even more than I already had. Norma Desmond ranks as one of the greatest characters ever to be played on film and Billy Wilder, had he only made this film even, will go down in history as one of the greatest directors in the known world. Fantastic story, great acting and one of the best endings to a film ever.
3
La Strada (The Road) 1954,  PG)
La Strada (The Road)
Hands down, one of the most beautful films I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Fellini is a master craftsman when it comes to film and this movie proves it. Guilietta Masina is fantastic in the film and allows us all to view the world with childlike wonder, no matter how bad it seems.
4
The Godfather 1972,  R)
The Godfather
This is one of the greatest films ever made in the history of film making. Still fresh after 35 years without a sign of ever not being relevant, Coppola creates a masterpiece for the ages.
5
The Godfather, Part II 1974,  R)
The Godfather, Part II
In my own opinion I think this is far superior to the first Godfather film, solely because Al Pacino is so in charge in this one. Michael Corleone is one of the greatest characters ever portrayed on film by a pre-Scarface Pacino. This movie is so important for me because of the "kiss scene" between Fredo and Michael. That is one of the greatest scenes in film history for me.
6
Some Like It Hot 1959,  Unrated)
Some Like It Hot
One of the funniest movies of all time. Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis are magical and Marilyn Monroe is gorgeous. I laugh so hard every time I watch this movie.
7
Forrest Gump 1994,  PG-13)
Forrest Gump
Beautiful piece of film. I love the historical and musical references throughout. And Tom Hanks does some of his best work here.
8
National Lampoon's Animal House 1978,  R)
National Lampoon's Animal House
Toga, toga, toga, toga... John Belushi was the best in this movie. I have cried from laughing so hard during this movie. You have to watch this one. One of my favorites.
9
Dances With Wolves 1990,  PG-13)
Dances With Wolves
This movie only furthers my love for the west and Costner. I could have watched buffalo run across the screen for hours upon hours and would have loved every minute of it. Luckily, we got a masterful story to go along with it.
10
Saving Private Ryan 1998,  R)
Saving Private Ryan
Beautiful movie. The fact that Tom Hanks has to die, not so beautiful, but a great movie and great tribute to the men who fought in WWII.
11
The Rocky Horror Picture Show 1975,  R)
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
This is one of my favorite movies of all time. A man in drag is bound to make me happy and I love the cult classics too.
12
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring 2001,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
I love these movies. Not as good as the books, but I love them. I do think that Sean Astin should have gotten as Oscar for putting up with Frodo/Elijah Wood through three movies.
13
How To Marry A Millionaire 1953,  Unrated)
How To Marry A Millionaire
I love this movie. The best of them all is Marilyn Monroe, as the cutie who won't wear her glasses, so instead she runs into things. A funny movie with three classic ladies trying to move up in the world and end up falling in love.
14
Moulin Rouge! 2001,  PG-13)
Moulin Rouge!
I love, love, love this movie. Baz Luhrmann is amazing and I love the popular songs mixed into the time period.
15
Frida 2002,  R)
Frida
I love this movie. As a Kahlo fan, this movie made me rather happy. I'm glad that Salma Hayek got to make this movie. The colors were beautiful and represented not only Frida but I believe the romantic Mexico as well.
16
Gladiator 2000,  R)
Gladiator
I love this movie. Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix are amazing in the movie. Sure, it wasn't totally correct historically, but I love it nonetheless.
17
For Love of the Game 1999,  PG-13)
For Love of the Game
This is why I love baseball. I love baseball because of the history of the game, the romance involved in the game and because of those few players like Billy Chapel who live, breathe, sleep and eventually die with the game. Kevin Costner does a fantastic job as an aging pitcher watching life fall apart off the field while all is coming together on it. Wonderful supporting cast and a well-done film that even those who have no interest in baseball will love.
18
Good Will Hunting 1997,  R)
Good Will Hunting
One of the most fantastic movies I've ever seen. Robin Williams is amazing. The speech about the Sistine Chapel is amazing and whenever he says about sitting the hospital room with his wife because visiting hours don't mean anything still sends chills down my spine. In a good way that is.
19
Marie Antoinette 2006,  PG-13)
Marie Antoinette
I thought I wasn't going to like this movie. I didn't like Sofia Coppola. I didn't like Kirsten Dunst. And I didn't know much about Marie Antoinette. I now love all three. A great movie with the classic French history and then the 80s alternative music mixed in. Great!!
20
Gangs of New York 2002,  R)
Gangs of New York
I love this movie. Daniel Day-Lewis was amazing in this film. I love historical films like this one. Gangs and New York City, love it!!
21
Farinelli 1994,  R)
Farinelli
I don't think there are enough good words to express how much I loved this movie. Beautiful movie that any opera fan or foreign film fan should look into. Excellent movie. A must see for sure.
22
I Am Sam 2001,  PG-13)
I Am Sam
This is one of the best movies I've ever seen. I don't know how Sean Penn didn't win the Oscar that year.
23
Apollo 13 1995,  PG)
Apollo 13
Tom Hanks is great in this movie. I love all of the other actors in it as well. Great soundtrack as well. When I was in band, it made me want to play trumpet because of that trumpet part in the arrangement.
24
Best in Show 2000,  PG-13)
Best in Show
Fantastic movie. I love Fred Willard and I love the humor in the movie. These people are brilliant.
25
Braveheart 1995,  R)
Braveheart
Although some of the facts might not be straight, the majority of them are. Either way Mel Gibson has created a fabulous movie with some of the most intense battle scenes beautifully choreographed and a beautiful story weaved throughout. An excellent piece of film that will not soon be forgotten and put Gibson as one of the best actor/directors of all time.
26
Chicago 2002,  PG-13)
Chicago
Love this movie. This brings back memories of singing along to the songs in my car with friends. Not the biggest Roxie Hart fan in the world, but I'm a total Velma Kelly girl.
27
My Cousin Vinny 1992,  R)
My Cousin Vinny
This is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen in my life. Marisa Tomei was to die for in this movie. Her accent, her hair, her knowledge of cars...if you see this movie, this is probably how my friends few me and wonder why I don't look more like this.
28
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King 2003,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Great movies, however, they were a little off from the books.
29
Field of Dreams 1989,  PG)
Field of Dreams
Great movie. I'm totally in support of getting Shoeless Joe into the Hall.
30
In America 2003,  PG-13)
In America
Such a beautiful movie. I love the scenes where we see the world through the little girl's camera. Fantastic movie filled with so many emotions. Djimon Honsou as the artist downstairs is one of the best characters from recent film.
31
Inventing the Abbotts 1997,  R)
Inventing the Abbotts
I adore Joaquin Phoenix in this movie. Such a cute movie and even though Liv Tyler isn't the most loyal girl, I still love her.
32
Memoirs of a Geisha 2005,  PG-13)
Memoirs of a Geisha
I love this movie. One of the greatest films I've ever seen about such a great culture and aspect of that culture.
33
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation 1989,  PG-13)
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
My family does not follow many traditions, but one that we follow every year is to watch this on Christmas Eve. No matter how many times I see this movie, the jokes are still fresh as though I've never seen the movie before and I laugh until I cry. Although the National Lampoon name isn't as great as it once was, movies like this were the starting point for some of the great comedies we have today.
34
O Brother, Where Art Thou? 2000,  PG-13)
O Brother, Where Art Thou?
This is hands down one of the greatest movies I've ever seen. The Coen Brothers make me smile with each new film they make.
35
Pretty Woman 1990,  R)
Pretty Woman
I try to deny the power of this movie, but alas I cannot. I die every time Richard Gere plays the piano and feel a sense of justice whenever Julia Roberts tells the woman at the store that she made a big mistake.
36
Quills 2000,  R)
Quills
One of the greatest movies I've ever seen. Movies like this one give me hope that the film industry isn't as bad as it sometimes is. Each person the film was amazing, even the small roles. A great movie and if you haven't seen it, please do so.
37
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves 1991,  PG-13)
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
No, it wasn't a baseball movie that had me falling in love with Kevin Costner, it was this movie. He might not don a British accent like the rest of the people in the film, but that just adds to the boyish charm that I love about the man.
38
Say Anything... 1989,  PG-13)
Say Anything...
This is one of my favorite movies ever. Honestly, John Cuasck is the sweetest man in the world. I would love for someone to do what he does in this movie to me.
39

40

I love this movie. It always makes me happy when I watch it. The best person from the movie though is Hank Azaria.
41
The Bridges of Madison County 1995,  PG-13)
The Bridges of Madison County
Fabulous movie. My favorite scene is either when she says "take me to Africa" or when she's describing the feeling of him being in the shower before her. Amazing. I love Clint Eastwood in this and Meryl Streep was out of this world good.
42
The Last of the Mohicans 1992,  R)
The Last of the Mohicans
"No matter where you are, I will find you." It's funny on Seinfeld and so romantic on this one. Love this movie. Such a good one and Daniel Day-Lewis...yowza!!
43
The Libertine 2004,  R)
The Libertine
This is simply the best Johnny Depp film either of his career or as of late. Either way it is a fabulous movie based on the Earl of Rochester and worth seeing. It is a dark film, both visually and literally. Filmed using mainly candle light, a brilliant move on the director's part, the film really takes you back to England the way it was and doens't attempt to make it any better than it was. I appreciate that in the film and appreciate a good performance like Depp puts on here. Fantastic film, a must see in my book.
44
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers 2002,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
The Lord of the Rings trilogy is a fabulous piece of film. Each part is also wonderful and this in my opinion is the best part. It is the middle which also includes a beginning, middle and end. Peter Jackson never ceases to amaze you in this film and the battle sequences are top notch. Fans of the books will love this film and those who have never read the books will love them as well and want to pick up the book after watching this masterpiece.
45
The Man from Snowy River 1982,  PG)
The Man from Snowy River
Fantastic. So it's a little corny, but who cares, Jim is smokin' hot!! I kid. Actually he is. Anyway, I love this movie. The scene when he rides the horse down the hill is one that will probably stay in memory forever.
46
Whale Rider 2002,  PG-13)

Mystery, Alaska 1999,  R)

I love this movie. Sure, it has that forced feel good situation at the end, but Russell Crowe plays hockey for a few minutes. I can't knock that.
51
The Blues Brothers 1980,  R)
The Blues Brothers
John Belushi is one of my all-time comedic heroes. This movie is so good. Watch it for the music if nothing else.
52
The Terminal 2004,  PG-13)
The Terminal
This was so good. It didn't even bother me that they don't end up together. He got to go to the club. I cried.

I never used to like westerns until I watched this. After watching this I'm now a John Wayne fan and I'm a western fan. Congrats John Ford.
55
Chinatown 1974,  R)
Chinatown
Good movie. Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway put on fantastic performances in the film and really create a classic film noir style movie. Roman Polanski behind the camera just adds to the appeal.
56
Fantasia 1940,  G)
Fantasia
I love this movie. Disney should do more things like this, maybe even introducing kids to fine art along with the music. Splendid.
57
Mulholland Drive 2001,  R)
Mulholland Drive
