Atonement 2007,  R)
Atonement
Perfection. Beautiful, powerful and captivating. So impressed with its truthfulness to the book - it lived up to all of my expectations. Keira Knightley is really good as Cecilia and James Mcavoy, Romola Garai and young Briony are all wonderful. But it is the directing that really sets this movie above the others. The feelings of the characters are so well captured through the use of beautiful camera work enhanced further by the clever soundtrack - loved the incorporation of the typewriter. Overall a really entertaining, tragic and beautiful movie. Wont disappoint anyone who enjoyed the book

No Country for Old Men 2007,  R)
No Country for Old Men
The best movie of 2007. The characters were so believable, the story was entertaining and the camera work enhanced the general dramatics and startling suspense of the movie, so the overall experience was thoroughly engaging. An awesomely brilliant suspense drama.
3
Little Miss Sunshine 2006,  R)
Little Miss Sunshine
Great cast and character development, fabulous soundtrack (Sufjan Steven dominates) and sometimes clever script. A brilliant mix of humour and painful tragedy. One of my great loves
4
Pride and Prejudice 2005,  PG)
Pride and Prejudice
This movie was absolutely stunning, with its spectacular and almost bohemian sets; amazing dialogue; brilliant casting and gorgeous actors and acting; beautiful, yet unimposing soundtrack and inspiring cinematography. The attention to detail payed by Joe Wright, set this film above other screen adaptations of the popular Austen novel. The chemistry between all members of the cast gave the screenplay a unique dimension, adding a sense of realism and enhancing the overall beauty. The Bennet family was well-developed with relationships between all members being very natural and real. The relationship between Lizzy and Darcy was also well-developed, though not an overly dominant force, allowing for other aspects of the story to be well-told and appreciated. A truly beautiful and original adaption of one of Jane Austen?s greatest works

Ocean's Eleven 2001,  PG-13)
Ocean's Eleven
clever script, great cast ... awesome idea
6
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind 2004,  R)
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
awesome! it took a little while to get used to, but fantastic performances all round, with this being one of the first of jim carey's movies i actually really liked. Beautiful, but really sad story, would definitely recommend to people looking for a mind-boggling, extremely clever and very unique movie.
7
Garden State 2004,  R)
Garden State
My favourite soundtrack of all time
8
Love Actually 2003,  R)
Love Actually
Brilliant. love the Britishness of it. The acting is great and the script is original and hilarious, not to mention packed with great quotes. Although it may have too strong a sexual theme for some, once its overcome, the movie is really enjoyable.
9
Persuasion 2007,  Unrated)
Persuasion
Brilliant. Although Sally Hawkins wasn't the Anne I imagined when reading the book, she was perfect. Rupert Penry-Jones was also very impressive. A very beautiful film with great atmosphere. The meaning behind every look especially those of Sally Hawkins and Rupert penry-Jones was mersmerizing. Such feeling in this movie, cant stop watching it
10
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest 2006,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
An awesome movie. The dialogue was hilarious, the cast are all fantastic, the plot was amazingly original and the overall affect was completely stunning. In all honesty i think that the director did really well to make this story so original and so interesting the whole way through. i was more impressed with this one, than the first.

Sense and Sensibility ,  Unrated)
Sense and Sensibility
Perfect. Beautiful costumes, gorgeous actors and acting, fabulously detailed sets and breathtaking scenery, fascinating soundtrack (love the electric guitar moments) all brought together by genius editing. I love the fact the Margaret's character was so well-developed and that aspects of Austen's novel which are often misinterpreted or read over were given such emphasis. Also the energy of all the characters and the awkwardness associated with the formalities of the time added originality to the well-read plot. Visually stunning, shouldn't disappoint any Austen fans
12
Finding Neverland 2004,  PG)
Finding Neverland
The most gorgeous movie. Fantastic performances by all. A really interesting storyline emphasised by the great combination of reality and fantasy. It is both beautifully captivating and tragically sad at the same time. This is one that you will either hate and be disappointed by or fall in love with and wont be able to stop watching
13
The Matrix 1999,  R)
The Matrix
Wonderfully disturbing, amazingly clever and oh, so brilliant
14
A Beautiful Mind 2001,  PG-13)
A Beautiful Mind
such a beautiful, heart-wrenching story. The isolation, desperation and passion of the characters is portrayed so incredibly well. Great acting - in particular from Crowe and Connelly. well deserving of the four oscars it was awarded.

'Terrified, mortified, stupefied by you!'
15
The Bourne Identity 2002,  PG-13)
16
Groundhog Day 1993,  PG)
Groundhog Day
This movie never grows old. So easy to watch over and over again
17
Across the Universe 2007,  PG-13)
Across the Universe
Fantastic. Explores cultures and issues prevalent in the 60s. It felt like viewing a long line of video clips, but in the greatest way possible - that is, while each song was very different in terms of choreography, sets and singing; they each captured the emotion of the story at the point very well. All round brilliant choreography, enhanced by great costumes, sets and singing. I especially loved Let It Be and Strawberry Fields Forever.
18
The Little Mermaid 1989,  G)
The Little Mermaid
It used to be an absolute favourite of mine and its credibility as a movie has lasted over the years. The animations are adorable, the script is genuinely funny and the songs will continue to be sung for generations to come, im sure. (How could any movie possibly compare to one with a red-haired, mermaid princess?)
19
Children of Men 2006,  R)
20
The Lives of Others 2006,  R)
The Lives of Others
an amazing film. the sadness expressed by every element of the movie is overwhelmingly powerful and the whole character of HGW XX/7 is developed so easily through his silence and the place where he lives. The best thing is the fact that the movie's ending keeps with the depressing mood of the rest of the movie making it very believeable. The performances of all the actors are great. While some scenes are quite disturbing, the sheer desperation and sadness which consumes the lives of the three main characters is portrayed realistically and you really feel for people who were, and maybe still are, in their situation
21
Dead Poets Society 1989,  PG)
Dead Poets Society
one of robin william's finest performances. Absolutely wonderful. The script is great, the acting good and the general theme of the movie is just so moving and tragic. Its hard not to cry towards the end. carpe diem
22
The Secret Garden 1993,  PG)
The Secret Garden
loved this movie since childhood.
23
The Bourne Ultimatum 2007,  PG-13)
24
The Shawshank Redemption 1994,  R)
25
Tess of the D'Urbervilles 1998,  Unrated)
Tess of the D'Urbervilles
Best adaption of the Thomas Hardy novel. Justine Waddell is fantastically beautiful!
26
Walk the Line 2005,  PG-13)
Walk the Line
a fantastic movie. The performances of Jaoquin Pheonix and Reese Witherspoon (who did really well to hold the accent even when singing) were brilliant. So much attention was payed to the detail of the sets. also, this may be a bit sad, but i much preferred the singing of the actors in the movie, to the real life Cash and Carter
27
Bend It Like Beckham 2002,  PG-13)
Bend It Like Beckham
I laugh every time I see it - and I have seen it way too many times
28
Aladdin 1992,  G)
Aladdin
My second favourite movie as a kid. the characters are all great
