Empire of the Sun 1987,  PG)
Empire of the Sun
Absolutely astounding potrayal by Christian Bale. Filmed in 1987. One of Spielberg's greatest. It inspires, delights, sheds some tears and uplifts the soul of its viewers.

The Godfather, Part II 1974,  R)
The Godfather, Part II
"Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer" Just as compelling as the first. What a stunning sequel to Coppola's Oscar-winning, 1972 hit film. Pacino and De Niro, the 2 legends and I love them both. Robert De Niro did most of his dialogues in Italian and he was fantastic, he deserved that Oscar. The Godfather movie has it all ,loyalty, passion, greed, brutality, ambition and most importantly of all honour. By far the greatest sequel ever made in movie making history.
4
The Hurt Locker 2008,  R)
The Hurt Locker
This one gets a 5 stars from me. By far, one of the best war movie of all time. Overwhelmingly TENSE that sometimes I forget to breathe from one terrifying scene to another more terrifying scene. The hurt locker is not a typical gun blasting combat movie but the mania of diffusing bombs under extreme circumstances in war torn Iraq(filmed in Jordan, country next to it) Th direction from Kathryn Bigelow was downright realistic and damn well near perfect.
The Hurt Locker is structured around the 38 days the three men in the EOD (for Explosive Ordnance Disposal) squad have left in their rotation in Iraq. Men like Spc. Owen Eldridge (Geraghty) know all too well that every new day is potentially one they will not survive. They all want to avoid the hurt locker, the place where bad things happen.
The 3 male leads especially Jeremy Renner, brought such unchallenged performances along with some special guest cameos by Guy Pearce, David Morse and Ralph Fiennes. This is a must see film and easily the best of 2009. Whoever says transformers 2 the best, I will hurt you!
5
Million Dollar Baby 2004,  PG-13)
Million Dollar Baby
Without any debate, Clint Eastwood's Million Dollar Baby is an absolute masterpiece. This is Hillary's stellar performance, she is truly a knockout in her role as Maggie Fitzgerald, an aging boxer with a hard past and her back muscles encourages me to go to the gym!!!! Definitely the best movie of 2004.
6
Rescue Dawn 2006,  PG-13)

E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial 1982,  PG)
E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial
Taking a walk down memory lane with my 6 year old, I was 10 the first time I saw this. A Spielberg's classic that brings back the emotions and sensations I had as I watched this beautiful story unfolded before my eyes. E.T is an exhilarating movie experience and the lovable three-fingered alien is loved by young and old. The story combines heart and humor and had me breaking out the hankies again even after 28 years. John Williams's beautiful score earned an Oscar.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Finally! Finally I got my hands on this DVD.This movie intrigued me from beginning till the very end. It is a story of a man who is old when he is born and an infant when he dies. The film is well made with great supporting casts and a fascinating script. Cate Blanchett gave a fine performance here too,as the woman who has hold of Benjamin's heart .A captivating and one of a kind piece of a movie with such heartbreaking romance. A box of tissue would be handy here.

Dangerous Liaisons 1988,  R)
Dangerous Liaisons
John Malkovich plays the rake, Vicomte de Valmont so seductively well. This movie is wicked. Sinfully deliciously. Fascinating

An Education 2009,  PG-13)
An Education
An impressive and a near perfect coming of age drama. It is so authentic and honest. This is the very first movie from Carey Mulligan that I have truly noticed her talent. She is a pleasure to watch. She captures Jenny's romantic desires and teen angst and sarcasm perfectly. Most young girls desire a life free of her studies and filled with a whirlwind of cocktail parties, classical music, art auctions and being whisked away by a dashing man for sophisticated jaunts to the city of love, Paris. Jenny is no different. Loved it for its witty and solid dialogues, mood capturing soundtracks, smoky, sexy and swinging 60s atmosphere and impeccable performances from the entire casts, a special note to Alfred Molina as Jenny's stern, caring, at times oblivious and incredibly funny man. Peter Sarsagaard- the seductive and charming cad. The swoonworthy Dominic Cooper, and lovely Rosamund Pike, their characters reminds me of serpents in the Garden of Eden possessing lifestyles that are impossible not to covet. A movie that successfully provides a rich, satisfying experience, finally.

(500) Days of Summer 2009,  PG-13)
(500) Days of Summer
Sometimes the one you fell head over heels with does not fall in love with you. We have all been there....

I love it because,
1. It is honest, wry, smart and witty. It certainly reminded me of Woody Allen's previous classics like Manhattan and Annie Hall. Director Marc Webb presented us a very inventive and original comedy.
2. Indie darlings:Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel, genuine chemistry together that works beautifully.
3.It has terrific soundtracks!
Easily an instant favorite of mine.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand - The Complete First Season 2010,  Unrated)
Spartacus: Blood and Sand - The Complete First Season
This one has the indomitable spirit of the gladiator combined with the violence of 300. Go back in time where gladiators battles in the grand arena, I was totally immersed in the combats and the glory of ancient Rome. Here, it is all about the gladiator training, way of life, and the bloody battles. It is extraordinarily violent and gory. There is a slow start to the character development for the series, but one 's patience will definitely be rewarded as the story progresses. Spartacus is a man who has lost everything and is trying to gain it back through fighting in the arenas. Lead actor Andy Whitfield was recently diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and sadly had bowed out of Season 2. It will take time to warm up to whomever they choose to replace him, I cannot see another actor in Andy's role as he embodies the role and character of Spartacus. Recommended only for viewers who are comfortable with violence, gore and nudity.

X-Men: First Class 2011,  PG-13)
X-Men: First Class
Certainly one of the best Marvel's adaptation. It is riveting with intense sequences of stylish action. Extremely well directed and delivered by the entire grand casts. Credit to director Matthew Vaughn and the two main players. Fassbender and McAvoy are indeed a lethal combination here, making the entire story worked.
Primarily a story about the beginnings of the complex relationship between Charles Xavier played by James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender as Erik Lensherr before they were known as Professor X and Magneto and also it brings to light the beginnings of the other core cast like Mystique and Beast. Michael Fassbender is effortlessly cool and'magnetic' as Magneto. He commands every scene and it is hard to take your eyes off him. First Class is bold and aggressive and it delivers first class entertainment.

Super 8 2011,  PG-13)
Super 8
Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment + Abrams's Bad Robot = Super AWESOME!
SUPER marvelous special effects. SUPER engaging with SUPER talented young casts. You will find yourselves extremely immersed in each individual characters.
Did I say SUPER?

Temple Grandin 2010,  Unrated)
Temple Grandin
"I'm not like other people," says Grandin. "I see in pictures."

An exceptionally beautiful story brought to life by Claire Danes' staggeringly powerful performance and it was simply stunning to watch the way Danes completely disappeared into her role. The voice, the movement, her mannerisms, everything! This is a biopic based on the Animal scientist and autism activist Temple Grandin. She lived in an era when little was known about autism. She is an amazing woman who has overcome great odds in her life. Poignant, imaginative and engaging.

Crazy, Stupid, Love. 2011,  PG-13)
Crazy, Stupid, Love.
It had been quite awhile now that the romantic comedy genre had disappointed me numerous times, so that 's why I love it when a movie like Crazy,Stupid,Love took me almost completely by surprise. A shrewd, well written, flawless script, there's the perfect balance between poignant drama and quality comedy without all the obligatory raunchiness to capture the audience. C,S,L has the best ensemble cast of the year. Steve Carrell gives his character Cal's journey real heart. Well, you have certainly redeemed yourself after being in a fiasco called Evan Almighty. Ryan Gosling: what a versatile actor he truly is. Infinitely charming and absolutely mesmerizing. Emma Stone: I would watch anything she is in. Last of all, I love the ending . Everything comes together in a surprising way that you might not see coming.
