A phenominal achievement for Noland and his very talented cast. It is a cerebral film with fantastic set pieces that defy physics and action that is, well, what dreams are made of. There isn't a single negative thing I can say about it. It's so layered in intrigue and emotional punches that it's hard to put into words how wonderful and fresh it was. It blew away conceptions of what a science ficiton, cerebral, or summer blockbuster movie should be, and leave the viewer in awe of the scope of the film.
The most uplifting movie that I've seen in a long time. Great story, strong perfomances, and humor galore. Some minor cautions, but overall a very well done sports movie.
Being a Star Wars man, and having seen the prior installments in the franchise, I obviously had reservations about seeing it. However, I was completely blown away. The entire film was phenomonal, an whirlwind of action, intrigue, and sheer awsomeness. It is easily the best Trek film, and the most exhilerating movie experience since 'The Dark Knight'. The entire cast, under the brilliant direction of Abrams, delivers spot-on performances, and the fast-paced story lacks nothing substanatively. It's brilliant from the get-go, and will even please non-Trekies like myself.
Classic Eastwood. Extremely well done, superbly acted; this movie excels on nearly every level. Some might take offense to Eastwood's seemingly racist and blunt character, but judging his character by these two characteristics is like saying an onion has only two layers. Plus, I laughed more at the perfectly placed humor in this film than I have at many of the comedies rolling out these days.
Dark. That pretty much sums it up. Noland has crafted an enthralling story that takes the mythos of Batman to a whole new level. Bale, Caine, Oldman, and Freeman once again turn in great performances; and while there's been some polishing to Gyllenhaal's character, she doesn't really stand out from the rest of the actors. Eckhart's Dent/Two Face was fascinating with some clever effects. However, it's Ledger's Joker that really steals the show. The late actor obviously immersed himself into the role, and it paid off in a big way. The whole movie is teeming with dark complexity and intrigue, and is one of the most thrilling movies in recent memory. Not to mention the Zimmer/Howard score permeates your inner being throughout the entire film.
A very pleasant surprise. The performances are top-notch, even a decent turn for Cruise. Singer successfully crafts a film with action, political intrigue, and suspense; while Ottman's score really brings the story to life.
Just about as good as its predecessor. It's darker and grittier, but nonetheless fantastic. Craig is spot-on again, as is Dench. The rest of the cast does well, but is somewhat overshadowed by the aforementioned actors. It's got a very Bourne feel to it, but is set apart by the tone and demeanor that make Bond distinctive. There are also some great throwbacks to earlier Bond films that fans will likely enjoy. Overall; it's another great entry into the revamped franchise that falls a little short of 'Casino Royale', but is certainly a worthy follow-up.
Fantastic. Guillermo del Toro really upped the stunning visuals enough to make one remember "Pan's Labyrinth", but still have an exciting and fun time in the theater watching this film. Pearlman and the rest of the cast really make what could have been a somewhat cheesy film into a funny and very entertaining thrill ride. It surpasses its predecessor on nearly every level, and makes for an excellent addition to any comic book movie junkie's faves.
A thoroughly enjoyable film from start to finish. It's funny, visually stunning, and action packed with some good messages. It may be geared for younger audiences, but I found it to be quite fun and exciting.
A great documentary. It's not really out to bash Moore personally, but rather his tactics. It doesn't take a political stance, but rather examines some of the lives that Moore took advantage of to make his propaganda films. It's not a right wing movie; it's a movie for those who are fed up with that obnoxious filmmaker.
A wonderful follow-up to its forerunner that I can't say is better, but is definitely just as good. It's an incredibly well-crafted story that takes certain liberties with Lewis's book, but none that will ostracize fans of the series. The acting is great, the music is amazing, and the messages to be gleaned are wonderful. It's an exciting thrill ride of a film for all ages.
A beautifully tragic film. It's unconventional and sad, yet that's what makes it so outstanding. The acting is superb, the cinematography is excellent, and the music is very poignant.
A very funny, yet very touching movie that's as full of side-splitting one-liners as it is of genuine heart. For a movie involving teens, it's much more mature than you would think; and it thankfully lacks the just-for-shock-value raunch of "Knocked Up".
A truly amazing film. You'll either love it, or hate it - I am obviously of the former persuasion. You've never seen a monster movie like this, nor from this point of view.
A perfect documentary about a subject that needs light shed on it. It doesn't try to cram religion down your throat, but rather seeks to show how science is being subjugated. If you care at all about the scientific community or what is being taught in schools across the nation; you need to see this film.
Thrilling and action-packed; this film exceeds on many levels to make it one of the better comic-to-film adaptations in recent cinematic times - thanks in large part to Marvel making films in-house. Norton and Tyler are great, the cinematography is rousing, and the music rounds out the movie experience. It surpasses its predecessor by forming a whole new basis, rather than making a sequel to a merely mediocre film. A great popcorn flick.
An absolutely fun movie experience. The supporting characters are great, but it's Black's "Po" that's the real show-stopper here. The thing I enjoyed most about it was that it's a kids movie that's just as entertaining for them as it is adults; plus it isn't preachy, message-y, mushy, reaching, or overrated at all. It's hilarious and exciting - a real crowd pleaser.
Probably Pixar's second best, next to "The Incredibles". You just can't help but love the little guy. It may be a little message-y if you take it too literally, but overall it's a funny and highly entertaining flick for kids as well as adults.
Pretty much hilarious from the moment the mock trailers play in front of the actual film; this shockingly hilarious romp will likely make your sides hurt by the time the end credits roll. It's completely outrageous, but very satirical and fun. I don't want to give away any funny stuff, but one of the characters (apart from the leads) I was absolutely not prepared for. Quite funny indeed.
Liberals beware - there is too much truth in the hilarious romp for you to handle. Despite it's less than stellar production values, the movie is absolutely amazing due to its well-deserved mocking of douche bags like Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell. The ACLU zombies and the 1968 musical interlude are the best part of the flick!
One of the best movies I've ever seen. There are few movies that inspire and make you feel better after the movie than before - this is one of them. It's wonderfully made considering a very small budget, and the acting is better than a lot you see these days. Absolutely powerful messages about faith and forgiveness abound, and it's even good for those of us who aren't married.
Despite some bad language that could have been left out, this was a very good musical ? unlike any you've ever seen. It's very heartfelt and genuine, and it's filmed almost as if it were a documentary. The music is excellent and well performed.
Clever, fast-paced, and kind of funny; this is the kind of movie you really enjoy watching. Having Ritche's smart direction and Downey Jr's signature style is exactly what was needed to make this movie measures above the droll British dramedy that had been done with the character in prior portrayals.
