The Dark Knight 2008,  PG-13)
The Dark Knight
Best super hero movie yet. In fact, best action, crime or thriller yet! And heath ledger's Joker isn't the only reason i love it either!

Heath Ledger delivers his most astonishing, creepy and captivating performance yet. Aaron Echart is also good as Dent/Two-face. The result: the bad guys own Gotham, and this movie.
2
The Crow 1994,  R)
The Crow
This movie has just grown and grown on me and continues to do so! I loved the story, the themes, the setting, the cinematography and, of course, Brandon Lee's performance. And even though the lame bad guys almost ruined it for me the first couple of times, I've come to accept that it's such an awesome movie, it really doesn't need amazing bad guys: These guys are cruel, and that's all that you really need to know. (Brandon Lee was truly spectacular in this part!) This is one of my favourite action movies, and up there with the best comic book adaptations.
3
The Da Vinci Code 2006,  PG-13)
The Da Vinci Code
My new favourite movie! My only problem is that I don't have enough stars to express how awesome I think this movie was. It had absolutely everything I look for in a movie, and I can't stop watching it!
4
Snatch 2001,  R)
Snatch
One of the most entertaining movies since Two hands, Snatch is thrilling, intruiging, gritty and most of all: hilarious! A must see for any fan of gangster flicks, action, thrillers or just movies in general!
5
Mystic River 2003,  R)
Mystic River
Wow, what an intense flick! Easily one of the most superbly made movies I've ever watched, from writing and directing right through to the acting, it seemed so flawless I'm going to have to watch it again just to try to find some faults! (then I'll watch it again just to enjoy it!!) Sean Penn was terrific, as were the rest of the cast, the character arcs and changes were gut-wrenching and enthralling! An almost Shakespearian tale of tragedy and it's effects.
6
Two Hands 1999,  R)
Two Hands
Set in the slums of Oz, a soundtrack consisting of mainly powderfinger and crowded house, and the theme that everything has within it good AND bad. How could this not be fun? The greatest Aussie film I've ever seen, a must see.
7
Dead Poets Society 1989,  PG)
8
Watchmen 2009,  R)
Watchmen
Wow!! Now, I haven't read the comics (although I'd love to!) so I can't comment on how faithful to those it is, but I was blown away by this movie! Especially Rorschach's story arch, I thought that was exceptionally spectacular, dark and gritty and I loved Jackie Earle Haley as him! I was a little disappointed with the villain and the unexplained things surrounding him, such as the mythical egyptian tiger-like thing that randomly appeared, but that wasn't enough to ruin it. It's so great to see a movie that isn't ashamed of the fact that it's based on a comic!! I can't wait to see it again!!
9
The Phantom of the Opera 2005,  PG-13)
The Phantom of the Opera
The classic tale of obsession, Joel Schumacher brings the stage production to the big screen in what should be known as the definitive film of this story. The acting is terrific, and there is just the right amount of sinister added to the splendour of the singing and dancing to make this an intruiging watch.
10
X2: X-Men United 2003,  PG-13)
X2: X-Men United
One of my favorite comic book adaptations! I know this (as all the marvel films) is a little cheesy and predictable, but I love the X-men franchise, and this movie has some of the most satisfyingly X-men-ish bits, I can't help but love it! Plus anything that has Brian Cox as the villain is on the right track.
11
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street 2007,  R)
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
An awesome film. The cast, music, settings, costumes and effects are all brilliant. A truly dark movie, they don't come much better than this anymore.
12
There Will Be Blood 2007,  R)
There Will Be Blood
One of the greatest movies of all time. Definitely not "enjoyable" in the strictest sense, but it is intoxicatingly brilliant. It's Dark, gritty, bloody, bleak, sombre and claustrophobic, but I defy anyone who attempts to deny it's genius. Anderson's superb direction, coupled with the award worthy performances of Daniel Day Lewis and Paul Dano, make this piece one of the greatest american films in many a year, and the magnificently haunting soundtrack by Johnny Greenwood round this off to be an out and out masterpiece.
13
Troy 2004,  R)
Troy
I love this movie, one of the greatest "big battle" movies of all time! A few detractors, such as Brad pitt and Orlando Bloom, who annoy the shit out of me, but, they play their parts soooooooooooooooooo well, I just make my self forget how much they annoy me. Eric Bana is superb as prince Hector
14
Candy 2005,  R)
Candy
A really great movie! The acting is outstanding, especially Heath Ledger and Geoffry Rush, they were terrific!! Although being ultimately depressing and a very difficult watch, the themes and characters were so moving and provocative that I couldn't take my attention off it for a moment! i loved it, 5 stars!
15
Repo! The Genetic Opera 2008,  R)
Repo! The Genetic Opera
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Brilliant! Gory, hilarious, eccentric and well worth the wait! If everything you watch has to be heart-felt and understated, then this is NOT for you. But if you just enjoy a fun movie that was clearly made with entertainment in mind, then you cannot miss this!!
16
V for Vendetta 2006,  R)
V for Vendetta
one of the greatest comic book adaptations of all time, acted terrifically, and directed with a visual flair, V for Vendetta is paced perfectly and the build to the finale is nail-bitting stuff. Awesome.
17
Gran Torino 2008,  R)
Gran Torino
A modern masterpiece! Up there with Mystic River as some of Eastwood's finest work. The story shows the main character in a very honest light, sometimes he confounds you with his ignorance, and sometimes he inspires you with his honesty and bravery, but either way, you always feel as though he's steeped in reality, like you've met people exactly like that in your life. A very bittersweet ending that really moved me, this movie poses questions about some very serious elements of our society, and even through the violence and often funny moments, it always keeps it's intentions at the very forefront. Exceptional.
18
Rango 2011,  PG)
Rango
Amazing. Sure it's not at all for kids as the studio obviously wanted it to be. But it is AMAZING!
19
Casino Royale 2006,  PG-13)
Casino Royale
Best bond movie to date, better in every possible way: that which it mimics from the originals it does better and with more class and that which it changes it does so sensibly and to the benefit of the film and it's franchise. More action films should take a leaf out it's book, because one of it's strongest points is it's versatility, I can watch this movie in any mood, over and over again.
20
Fight Club 1999,  R)
Fight Club
Mind blowing movie, but the way it has kind of become this whole fashion statement in itself is quite annoying, because people obviously don't understand the point of the movie, or even the comedy in it, which is a shame, because it really is just about the greatest film, ever
21
Seven (Se7en) 1995,  R)
Seven (Se7en)
Amazingly dark, intense, relentless film. Even when there is no violence on the screen, your palms are sweating and you don't even know why. To sum it up with one word? Oppressive. Very nearly my favorite film of all time, and then fincher made fight club.
22
The Social Network 2010,  PG-13)
The Social Network
Fincher proves that he can craft a movie out of just about anything. On paper: a movie about Facebook. On the screen: an amazingly paced, thought provoking, funny, dramatically charged movie about friendship, business, growing up, and this generation at large. An unmissable film!
