The Killing 1956,  Unrated)
The Killing
Perfect in every way. Stanley Kubrick's The Killing is one of the most well made and compelling films I have ever seen. It tells the story of five crooks who plan and execute a daring racetrack robbery. It was a $2,000,000 secret until one of them told a woman who changed everything. This film is one of Kubrick's earlier films and in my opinion its his finest. The Killing is a very simple story that is brilliantly told, superbly acted, and skillfully written. Its a film that you cant stop thinking about after seeing it for the first time. The Killing is one of the most intelligent, compelling, suspenseful, and entertaining films ever made. Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece. Nearly every Kubrick film is a masterpiece, but this one is really something special. The Killing is a classic crime drama and one of the greatest films you'll ever see.

Taxi Driver 1976,  R)
Taxi Driver
Martin Scorsese's masterpiece. Taxi Driver is a violent, compelling, and slightly strange character study of a bizzare man. It tells the story of mentally unstable Vietnam war veteran who works as a nighttime taxi driver in a city that constantly feeds his hunger to violently lash out. When he meets a teenage prostitute, he risks everything to save her. This film is definitely unique. I dont think ive ever seen or heard of anything quite like it. Taxi Driver is one of those rare films you watch for the first time and cant stop thinking about after. It leaves an everlasting impact on you and burns its way into your psyche while you're watching it. Taxi Driver is an intense cinematic experience and one of the greatest films I have ever seen. Robert De Niro is spectacular. He is so breathtaking in this film. A young Jodie Foster is wonderful as well.

Martin Scorsese is a filmmaker with a god given talent. The guy can make a movie like no other director in cinematic history. Scorsese is a cinematic legend and one of the worlds greatest directors. Taxi Driver is a powerful, compelling, and intense film.

The Dreamers 2003,  NC-17)
The Dreamers
Wow, I actually found a film that loves film as much as I do. The Dreamers is my favorite Bernardo Bertolucci film. It tells the story of a shy young American who travels to France and forms a friendship with two siblings he meets at the cinematheque. Their passion for everything film brings them together and a romantic, blissful relationship forms between them. Its a beautifully told story with superb acting from its phenomenal young cast. Michael Pitt is amazing as Matthew, the American exchange student. Eva Green is seductive and brilliant as Isobelle. Louis Garrel is stunning as her brother Theo. In my opinion, Louis was the standout of this film. He had a high level of energy and realism that is rarely seen in actors in contemporary cinema.

I have never seen a film so passionate about cinema. Any and every film buff will find something to appreciate in this film. Bernardo Bertolucci is an artist who paints with a camera. He is a master of eroticism and human nature. The Dreamers is his masterpiece, plain and simple.

Another crime classic from legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese. The Departed is a highly compelling and suspenseful thriller with exceptional performances from everyone. It tells the story of Billy Costigan and Colin Sullivan, two men from opposite sides of the law who are both undercover within the Massachusetts State Police and the Irish mafia. When discoveries are made, violence ensues and the two mole's come closer to discovering each other's true identities. Leonardo DiCaprio is superb and Matt Damon is extraordinary.
