  1. Roronoa
  2. Karin

The movies I love. It doesn't matter what you say or do, because I really won't care. They will always be my favorite films, no matter what.

  Roronoa's Rating My Rating
1
Gladiator 2000,  R)
Gladiator
There are so many ways to explain why this is such a masterpiece, but I'll leave that to all the other resonable people out there.
But... I can tell you this:
I still haven't found any other movie out there that is as good as Gladiator. Because, quite frankly, it is simply impossible, since Gladiator outshines every other movie in every possible aspect.

It is, without any uncertainty, one of the best films I've ever seen and that's ever been done in all time.
No more comments are needed.

Empire of the Sun 1987,  PG)
Empire of the Sun
This movie touched me in a way that no movie had done for a very long time. I don't think I've cried that much over a movie. Well, not after Gladiator anyway, and I really thought that nothing could be as moving as Gladiator.
I was clearly wrong.
The acting of the young Christian Bale was more than amazing, it was astonoshing and extraordinary.
Who knew that this 13-year old boy would have such raw talent and turn up to be one of the most brilliant actors of all time. You may not believe me now, but try watching Empire of the Sun first. I'm sure you'll change your mind.
3
The Prestige 2006,  PG-13)
The Prestige
I just finished re-watching The Prestige, and certainly gathered and discovered more the second time than the first (well, who wouldn't?)
Chris Nolan has a talent for bewildering people, or at least confusing them so tremendously, and that's exactly what he did here. Every time I re-watch Nolan's films I get so more fond of them, since they just get more rousing to me.
This is an exceedingly suspenseful and intriguing film, with fascinating characters and amazing performances by none other than Jackman and Bale. Brilliant acting by both of them, nothing less. Caine doesn't exactly come short either, and Bowie gave such a mystic and electrifying performance as well.
The movie only fails when it comes to the relationships between the men and Olivia (played by Scarlett Johansson). While her affection to them is supposed to mean love, this falls short into the audience's eyes as when you really can't feel their emotions toward eachother. All of it just feels too hasty and not real.
Still, with that said; this movie is, even with its minor flaws, yet another brilliant film by the oh so talented director Christopher Nolan.
4
The Matrix 1999,  R)
The Matrix
A must see.
This film will twist and turn your head in ways that you've never experienced before. The Matrix takes you places movies rarely dare go to, and is purely the first of its kind.
A mindblowing (and mindbending for that matter) story, with incredible effects that has inspired the entire movieworld.
An astounding and ingenious sci-fi flick, and probably the best there is.

If you haven't seen this film, I literally feel sorry for you.
5
Heat 1995,  R)
Heat
Put two movielegends in one film, and what do you get? A great movie with great performances. Definetely worth watching.
6
Léon (The Professional) 1994,  R)
Léon (The Professional)
Natalie and Reno are brilliant together.
7
Hook 1991,  PG)
Hook
Ahh, such a movie. Such actors. Such a soundtrack (yes, I did love that as well, John Williams is nothing but a legend).

There's no denying that this movie makes everyone feel like a kid again, or at least wanting to be one and live with Peter Pan himself. I honestly could not stop smiling throughout the entire film, everything just shone of brilliance of a child movie to me.
Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman are simply genius in their roles. The remaining cast were superb to concur.

This movie is purely excellent and probably one of the best family films out there.
8
The Count of Monte Cristo 2002,  PG-13)
The Count of Monte Cristo
A brilliantly told revenge film, Alexandre Dumas was a genius when it came to writing books, and is truly one of my favorites.
The storyline is very unique in its way, and the characters are portrayed marvelously by the great actors in this movie. Even with much of the critique that this movie gets, by lacking bits from the book, especially when Edmond and the Priest are in prison, this did not bother me as much as it does to others.
I personally would say that this film is nothing but astounding, and honestly, one of my favs.
9
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade 1989,  PG-13)
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
The best of the three Indiana Jones movies, one of my favorites ^^
10
The Fugitive 1993,  PG-13)
The Fugitive
This movie made Harrison Ford one of my favorite actors.
Wonderful acting, by both him and Tommy Lee Jones.
11
Batman Begins 2005,  PG-13)
Batman Begins
Clearly the best Batman movie ever made. Christian Bale is the ultimate super hero.
12
The Three Musketeers 1993,  PG)
The Three Musketeers
I know I should give this movie a lower grade, but I simply just love it :D Never get tired of watching it, could be because I'm such a musketeers fan. Ow, what the hell, All for one and one for all! xD
13
Rush Hour 1998,  PG-13)
Rush Hour
Hell YES! :D:D
14
The Lion King 1994,  G)
The Lion King
Disney masterpiece.
15
American Psycho 2000,  R)
American Psycho
It's funny, since I don't even like this type of movies.
It's just the (almost unclear) message I got from the movie that struck me the most; that real people, like the insane Patrick Bateman, can get away with this sort of matter anyday they want, just because of their connections, money and how high status they have in our society, and in their jobs.

However. After several more viewings of this film, which has made me know it more or less by heart, new thought have come to my mind (Warning, small spoilers).
I honestly thought he was killing all those people, but.. what if he actually imagined it all? What if it was all in his head? It could be true, it could be a possibility. Or could it?

Nonetheless, one thing that I think everybody agrees about is this: Bale's performance is absolutely brilliant, it's like he was born to play this role.
You see so many actors these days that you think are great, but this...this is the real deal.
Christian Bale has officially become one of my favourite actors.
