Me and You and Everyone We Know
A lot of beautiful and reflective moments. The talking along the street, the 'are you touching yourself?', the woman and child meeting up in the park. Genius!

I Am A Sex Addict 2005,  R)
I Am A Sex Addict
The movie blurres the boundaries between documentary and mockumentary, combining both honesty and comedy in the right proportion. One could see the comedy behind this taboo secrets, and there's always naiveness and deep reflection between each comic reliefs. Its simplistic approach towards the production techniques kick the butt out of any billion dollars holywood's special effects.

Shortbus 2006,  Unrated)
Shortbus
Shortbus is one if these movies, which many people call artsy fartsy. I would take the predicate as a compliment.
It tells the story about the life of artists, the life of the depressed (no...the ones that dare to look for the answer of their existence in life ), the life of the austistic minded, the life of the rebels, the life of the people who wants to live in a perfect ideal world. The life of the so called normals. The life of all of us.

The movie is so daringly blunt, which speaks about the truth that only some people able to appreciate.
Remarks like, '... The more boring they(the movies) are, the more intelligent people think they are by watching them' are a constant theme throughout the movies. Not necessarily through the dialogs, Shortbus is filled with satirristic symbolism and imagery. Imagery of same sex romanticsm, the awkwardness of three somes, the raunchiness of sex parties and the guilty pleasure of transexual flirtations are beautifully captured.

But it doesnt stop there, on the superficial eroticsm level. Shortbus grabs the essence, why these things happens. Showing glimpses of the answer of that question behind a question through the quest of these interesting characters, go about exploring hapiness, the ultimate pleasure, the ultimate companion, or the answer to make their lifes worth going through.

It is so obscurely and vulgarly romantic. I cant help myself to be affected by looking at the way these two Jamies (a homosexual couple) look at each other, and how they wraps around themselves in each other's embrace. Or, the way Sophia tries to save her relationship through her sexual escapades. Or even, the symbolic of giving over Sophie's partner, Rob, more power in the relationship by giving him a remote control to her hidden vibrator underneath her pants in the shortbus party.

The film is so seductive but at the same time deep. It is somehow feels very real than life itself, without being too realistic.

Oh....yes, Monogamous relationship is dead.
