Steve Martin in his prime. THis movie is intelligently stupid it blows my mind. If Hollywood could produce comedies of the caliber today, maybe we wouldn't have to deal with all these remakes and sequels.
I love numbers and seeing as this is a movie about numbers and their relation to nature, I can't help but love it. Aronofsky's directing in the film truly shines. He is able to portray intensity like no other director I've seen.
I wish I could explain what this movie did to me. I haven't had a movie leave me so amazingly impressed that I spent the next few days trying decipher the deeper meaning of the movie.
The cinematography is the film is absolutely stunning. THe extended take shots are so amazingly coordinated and I can even begin to imagine how many takes it took. Clive Owen and Michael Caine are great. I love that Clive never uses a gun and for most of the movie isn't wearing shoes!
It tooks me months to watch this movie. For being about insomnia, I could never stay awake through it. Not because of the content but sheerly because of bad timing on my behalf. It was well-worth watching once I finally committed to it.
The saddest yet most uplifting movie I've seen in years. Carrey does a great job of playing timid every man not something we see him do very often. Charlie Kaufman is a personal hero of mine.
Christian Bale brings Patrick Bateman to life in all of the scariest ways you could imagine. My favorite part is him delusional on the the street trying to feed a kitten to an ATM machine.
The first true "Batman" movie in my mind. The Tim Burton films were fun but tended to focus more on the villains that on Bruce Wayne. Christian Bale nails the dual-natured lead so well this fanboy nearly wept at it's conclusion. Still, he shouldn't have told Katie Holme's his secret!!!
Brad Pitt steals the show in this movie. This is really the first time we se him step out of his pretty boy type cast. Not to mention, like most Gilliam films it has a great soundtrack.
The first time I saw this was in the theater. My friend Joe and I picked it for the sole fact that Kevin S. was in it. WE had no idea what we were in store for. I can still remember walking out of the cinema in awe.
Ed Norton gives a great performance. Any movie that can conjure up so much intense emotion that actually drives you to love/hate such a complex character is a rarity these days.
