Amelie brought magical realism to the mainstream. Beyond its somewhat simple yet touching story, the movie features amazing cinematography and overall the treatment is just mind-blowing.

I'm hardly a Will Ferrell fan but I do love Maggie Gyllenhaal, and thus I watched this movie based on the recommendation of a friend. In the end I was more than happy with the experience and I'm glad that I saw this movie. This is a movie that feels like a book and inspires people to want to write. However if this were read as a book, it just wouldn't be the same and I think this is the first movie that I'd say is better than any possible book adaptation. It's just that amazing. The complex characters, the somewhat surrealist plot and of course the highly intellectual yet not overly complicated ending - magnificent!
