I was stunned by the macabre and eery and weird humor, you know, stuff that appeals to kids who dont like Disney.....tricks like this grew enormous respect towards Tim Burton who is in my opinion one of the few very visual filmmakers still left on this planet... |

when I heard about it first I thought they had all gone nuts. such fine actors as Geofffrey and Johnny - and a pirate film?????? and THIS much make up? I thought this was to be a kind of movie Ed Wood would make....I thought it was a BIG, BIG mistake but decided to go see it - and I went with great superstition. on first viewing I seriously laughed until I went blind and got cramps in my stomach. later when I knew the twists and irony and witty visual tricks and little interconnected details it was not all that enjoyable. but it is great entertainment and created a character, that will no doubt keep living his own life even when everyone has forgotten the movies as such. |
