1
The Matrix 1999,  R)
The Matrix
An intricate and clever cyberpunk adventure that gets better and better with every viewing as you, like a puzzle, you put the story together piece by piece. Flawless.
2
The Lake House 2006,  PG)
The Lake House
Beautiful, whimsical, and romantic without being sappy. Once you get past the absurdity of the premise itself, it is eazy to fall in love with this touching film. And, unlike a similarly touching Keanu film (Sweet November), this film ends on a high note.
3
The Craft 1996,  R)
The Craft
Witchy goodness! Few movies about witchcraft are made, and although there are some stereotypes on the subject here, overall a very intriquing, enjoyable film that seems alot more about the difficulties facing teenagers trying to fit in than magic itself.
4
Bring It On 2000,  PG-13)
Bring It On
Pure indulgence. A silly cheerleader romp that is just fun to watch. Don't read too much into it, just have fun. Oh, and make sure to check out the sequels--they are also a blast.
5
The Grudge 2004,  PG-13)
The Grudge
The Grudge and The Grudge 2 are a horror film duo adapted from the japanese films and, in short, are a masterpiece of psychological thrillers. If you like movies with a high "creepiness" factor (esp. as opposed to "slasher" films), these are a must see. You will be on edge. The second film really explains the first, so see both.
6
The Devil's Advocate 1997,  R)
The Devil's Advocate
An amazing film with a great cast who give equally amazing performances. The film is powerful, and a narrative gem.
Exceptional in every way.
