The Matrix 1999, R)
One of the best philosphy movies ever. Action fans get their fill and at the same time are exposed to life changing ideas and forced to take a look at the hard truth of modern day society. This movie is my all time favourite movie. (NOTE: When I refer to this movie, I refer only to the 1st Matrix movie, the sequels continue the action theme, but lose a lot - but not all - of the philosophy.) |

A great fictional example of using fear to control the population. M Night is an amazing storyteller, and this is a nicely drawn story that closely mirrors our 'political powers-that-be' and their use of fear to attempt to control our way of life. |

Myself, being a strong believer that guns may in fact kill people, I found this movie very reinforcing. Lord of War deals not only with the small wars all around this small planet, but the larger governments part in those wars. A very eye-opening movie. |
