Adaptation 2002,  R)
Adaptation
Self-indulgent? Sure! But the movie unfolds perfectly, maintaining a quirky, humorous tone from beginning to end. Great acting by Cooper, Streep and Cage bring to life Charlie Kaufman's idiosyncratic story in an accessible, inviting and thoroughly entertaining manner.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day 1991,  R)
Terminator 2: Judgment Day
Arnold at his Best. This is the ultimate guys' movie. It's action-packed, fast-paced, looks cool -- and even has a plot. Entertainment, pure and simple. It's a shame they don't make 'em like this anymore.

Fight Club 1999,  R)
Fight Club
Very powerful. A shockingly clever movie with a biting, original style. The movie's about non-comformity and anti-materialism...and why we need to fight for our ideals. Stick it to the man! it's a truly creative story -- and it's supplemented by fantastic performaces. Without a doubt, the film captures all the originality and flare of Palahniuk's cult novel.
4
The Silence of the Lambs 1991,  R)
The Silence of the Lambs
Creepy to the nth degree. It's The best psychological thriller ever made: dark and morbid, suspenseful, shocking -- but most of all gripping and exciting. Hannibal Lector is a twisted, ingenious, depraved, ex-docter-cannibal-serial killer whose "expertise" is required to catch another psycho-murderer. Compelling, to say the least.

American History X 1998,  R)
American History X
Provocative? Controversial? Oh yeah! It's also intense beyond description. This emotionally and intellectually-charged narrative is superb in so many ways. It's rare to find a film with such good acting, casting, film editing, cinematogrpahy...not to mention some of the most memorable and chilling scenes in film history. On top of that, its social commentary remains 100% relevent and important -- what a special film.

Dead Poets Society 1989,  PG)
Dead Poets Society
A poignant story about individuality, freethinking and personal expression. Not too many films inspire me, but Robin Williams's brilliant portrayal of an exceptional, brave, passionate and unorthodox teacher affected me much as it affected his students on screen. This is truly an important film -- it tenaciously deals with profound issues of the human condition.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest 1975,  R)

Gattaca 1997,  PG-13)
9
What About Bob? 1991,  PG)
What About Bob?
Bill Murray is such a naturally funny guy, and his comedy flows as naturally as ever in this hilarious flick. And Richard Dreyfuss is cast so well as an anal psychotherapist who is drivin to insanity by the consummately nonchalant Bob (Murray).
