Snow White and the Huntsman Snow White and the Huntsman PG-13
Rupert Sanders has done a brilliant job here, not only in the style, which I really liked, but he drained performances from his actors brilliantly. On good form is Kristen Stewart who firstly does okay with a British accent and secondly delivers a strong enough performance to carry the film. Its a welcome change to see her playing a strong female character. Charlize Theron steals the show with her stunning face and deliciously evil performance. The only real let down is Chris Hemsworth who delivers a forgettable performance with a not so forgettable dodgy Scottish accent. It's not perfect though, with a much stronger second half than first you will struggle to recall the opening 40 minutes, and the pacing is up and down throughout. It's a pretty film though, the cinematography is lovely, and while it won't be remembered at the end of the year, it's certainly a decent trip to the cinema this summer.
The Dictator The Dictator R
The Dictator was always going to try to be slightly offensive, it works for Sacha Baron Cohen, it's just a shame that in among this offensive taste they forgot the comedy. Some of the jokes are very hit and miss and regardless of how offensive and crude they are, some of them just fall flat on their face, the best you may get is a chuckle. As for the story, it's a strange one, firstly it's incredibly self aware of how outrageous it actually is, and this helps. What doesn't help is the silly love story it tries to pass off, its a bit predictable and strange. More Bruno than Borat.

Juno Juno PG-13
It is very rare there is an oscar nominated film I actually can say I want to see. With Juno I can proudly say that ever since I seen the trailer I knew it would be a good film. And boy was I right. A remarkably simple yet cute story, this film is well written, acted and directed with an amazingly beautiful soundtrack. Already a favourite of 2008.
Back to the Future Back to the Future PG
Having seen this re-release in cinema's to celebrate it's 25th anniversary it killed me that I haven't rated it before. Its a certain classic and could quite possibly be one of my favourite films. It's just superb, the way the story is set out, the characters, it just never get's boring no matter how many times you re-watch it. What always amazes me is how tense I always get in the last 20 minutes. Superb film and a must see!
