Yes!... one of my Favorite, because of the game, and not just for the game series, this movie always will be special for me. I really love the cast, the characters are well placed and found. As the true fan of the game I should say : they could rise the bar a little higher, making this movie more creepyer and darker, adding more sadness and psycho madness in it (who is not familiar with Silent Hill game series, art and philosophy, for some people at some point, it will be hard to really understand this movie.) Jodelle Ferland she is awesome, I must say, she's got this Silent Hill vibe, a true Sharon and Alessa!. Of course as Alessa she is really showing her acting skills in this movie (and man! I really love her in "Case 39" as Lily). Randa Mitchel, Sean Bean, and I really enjoyed Alice Krige's character Christabella, she looks a little like Claudia (from Silent Hill 3 the game), so this is great SH character approach. And Of course the Outstanding and Brilliant Music by Akira Yamaoka!, (original music score from the game series) his music is Silent Hill itself!
At some point of view, closer to the end of the movie, when I found Esther's big little secret, at some level I imagined me instead of her, (maybe it sounds strange, but it doesn't) and I started to understand her frustration and anger, that turned to despise and wrath, I felt her deep bleeding scars inside her twisted and broken soul.
In an interview Isabelle Fuhrman said : Well I read the script and I really wanted to figure out who she was, thinking about how she feels, that she's a victim in a world that doesn't understand her, and all she's looking for is love, she really just wants to be understood, Esther is trying to get over the troubles that she's had before, by finding the perfect life. (now that's a great understanding and approach to the character!, Bravo! Isabelle.)
Isabelle is projecting Esther's character awesomely well in this movie (I can tell, she's gonna be a great actress, she's got the balls, yeaa!)
One of my favorite scenes is : Daniel Coleman : [watching Esther neatly cut up her food] Can you eat normal? Esther : I am eating normal. Daniel Coleman : Yeah, maybe in Transylvania or whatever country you're from. Esther : Incidentally, I'm from Russia. Transylvania isn't even a country. It's a part of Romania. Daniel Coleman : You're such a freak.
(Ouch!!!....pour Daniel probably sucks at geography, he-he-he! (That's the story of, that's the glory of love.)
The director's talent succeeds by creating images of the horror of the killer's mind through great artistic visuals, but mostly by a strong symbolic dimension : In a key scene, Lopez makes contact with the young Stargher who has hidden behind a horse protecting him. This horse, a symbol of freedom and sexuality not only for the surrealists but also throughout human history, is suddenly sliced into still pulsating pieces by panes of glass. More than a vulgar display of butchery, this quartered horse reflects the bursting of symbols it represents in Stargher's head. Freedom is out of the question for the boy, while in the autistic child's case, the horse, like the boat, lets in a glimpse of hope of a way out. In Stargher's world, the horse is cut into pieces and the women he kills resemble automatons he can control. Neither the horse nor the women have the possibility to exist in their true free nature in his mind. Stunning and great aestheticism, in beauty as well as in horror. This surrealism in this movie reminded me of Salvador Dali's paintings, clever and very artistic. In this movie let's just say I'm interested more in the movie itself and artistic side of it. I'm an artist myself so I highly appreciate this kind of artistic approach.
I admit I didn't like very much Uma til I saw this piece of art. One of my favorite emotional scene in this movie is : The Bride (Uma) awakes from her coma, and realises that her baby is missing. A great non stop pump-action, sword slashing, head chopping, arm cutting, rage roaring movie.
Sushi Bar Assistant : I'm not bald, okay? I shaved my head, Understand?
Yea!, this animation is awesome, probably Pixar's best ever. The dogs were great, not to mention the bird.
Dog : "None Of Your Mailman Friends Can Hear You." Russell : Good afternoon. Are you in need of any assistance today, sir? Carl Fredricksen : No. Russell : I could help you cross the street. Carl Fredricksen : No. Russell : I could help you cross your yard. Carl Fredricksen : No. Russell : I could help you cross your porch. Carl Fredricksen : No!
One of the most anticipated anime of the year, Ergo Proxy, blends the futuristic sci-fi setting and upscale production of Ghost in the Shell.
In the domed city of Romudo, the last haven of advanced civilisation in a world that has turned into a wasteland, the citizens live a regulated life of order and almost stupefying tranquility, attended by their auto-raves, non-sentient androids that act as servants, slaves, companions and guardians. The society is stratified, and the people are obedient and submissive.
The year 2032 is a future where cybernetics, pervasive computing, and urbanization have run amok. In this dark future of Japan, a group of covert police officers handles the most devious and dangerous sorts of technological crime. Major Motoko Kusanagi, formerly one of the top agents, has disappeared, her ghost--the data that comprises the soul of her otherwise completely mechanized body--having gone into hiding in the global information network. When a string of grisly murders are perpetrated by seemingly harmless pleasure robots, the current top cybernetic agent, Batou, is partnered with the younger and less mechanized Togusa to find out the dark secret of what is behind these killings, and who is willing to go to almost any lengths to stop them from finding out.
A little bit about the vehicle's history. Randall Raines (Nicolas Cage) is a retired car thief who earns an honest buck working at a service station. He's drawn back into a life of crime when his brother Kip (Giovanni Ribisi) gets into a spot of bother with local heavy Raymond Calitri (Christopher Eccleston). Randall must steal 50 classic cars of Calitri's choice within the space of 24 hours - and deliver them all to a cargo ship by 8am - to save Kip from execution at the hands of the mob. As good as Randall is, he knows this job is far too big for just one man. So he reluctantly tracks down the members of his old team to join him in one final fling to save Kip's hide.
Great movie, beautiful and breathtaking, no matter how old it is, it still looks great. I love the mystery of the tale, this silent and empty place forgotten by time, that awaits to disappear forever. This place is beautifull, and at a same time is creepy.
This one was better than the first one, the special effects where greater, and the acting all so was great. Yes I admit that it looks a bit like Matrix on slo-mo effects, but it has it's own style.
Great movie!, well played by Sam Rockwell. The movie has that cosmic emptiness (in a good way of course). You really get the feeling that you are alone on that moon station, you and Sam Rockwell, ah yes, and the robot.
Well..., Christopher Walken is a master of acting, he's got this chilly gangster mood, I really liked that. The rest of the actors all so did a great job, the movie is simple but entertaining, it kept me till the very end of it. What can I say : A cool crime drama that is very enjoyable.
This movie has an awesome surrealism style, very unique in a way and very beautiful. The design of the characters and strange inhabitants of Helena's world is AWESOME!. It's like Alice In Wonderland only more stylish and more like my taste. I really enjoyed this movie, Greeeaaat movie!!!
Ha-Ha-Ha! I really enjoyed this one : Valentine : Look An Idiot! / Sphinx : Were!?
Brilliant movie, outstanding acting between Jackson & Ricci. My opinion, this may be the best performance by Christina, ever!. But of course what makes this movie really great, is this awesome duet by Jackson & Ricci, I really felt their acting energy, this two characters, personalities, it's like water & fire. The music in this movie.....oooh-men, my soul was singing, I felt the mood of this movie, Blues Rocks!!
And Critics....they can say whatever they want, This Is Still A Great Movie!!
Fast as a lightning, deadly like poison, moving like water, Ladies and Gentlemen, presenting : Ip Man (Yip Man). The fighting choreography is more than great, each move is very well placed, my soul was singing to Donnie Yen's moves, his stance how he moves, like a cat, or should I say more like a little cat with the power of the tiger! His anger is so different from the others, when he angers its more like lightning without a storm, or like a punishment, only it can be very deadly. He is a real philosopher, he teaches not just fighting tehnice or style, he puts his heart in it, his soul and his mind. A great sequel, that is still awesome as the first one, the story, acting are still the same, great, beautiful and tense. A must see for those who really appreciates martial arts and it's essence.
My respect to Wilson Yip, Edmond Wong, Donnie Yen and whole his cast members.
A great intense intelligent thriller. The Costner's character is awesome, maybe Earl Brooks is an anti-hero, but it will be appreciated because he's so damn smart. Another interesting character, his alter-ego well played by William Hurt who goes by the name of Marshall. Interaction between these two actors is simply fascinating, and the idea by freezing time around Earl and Marshall and letting the dialogue play out, is interesting. I like Mr Brooks's character because when you look at his face you can't read his emotions or thoughts, it's like a poker face, you never know what his intentions really are.
The story is about Brigitte's struggle to not turn into the kind of creature her sister became. Emily Perkins's acing was perfect in this great sequel. The Brigitte's transformation was awesome to watch, the make-up effects have been improved, which are more convincing this time around. An entresting addition to this movie is the new girl called Ghost, well played by Tatiana Maslany, who is alternately hilarious and awesomely disturbing, and it gets more interesting as things go on. So, It's darker, stylish, and from my opinion it's even better than the first one. And this one has one of the most unexpected final twists.
What I really liked about this movie is that some of the actors are real russians, not some fake russians who know a few words and use them with a bad accent. Well the movie it is quite enjoying, a good thriller with intriguing story and later with great-solid and well placed action. I really enjoyed the Kingsley's performance as Ilya Grinko a narcotics officer, maybe his russian accent was not so great but compare to his credible and solid acting, this is a very small error. So with a great narrative structure and with honest performances from all actors involved this is a movie worth seeing.
Roy : Hold on there Ilya, don't tell me that you miss the USSR? I mean the USSR was a dark evil empire. Grinko : Maybe so. But then we were people living in the darkness, now we are people dying in the light. Which is better? When it was USSR a man lived until 65 years, now it is 58 years. I know this fact very well, I am 58. In Russia now we say there are only 2 kinds people, those who leave in private jet, and those who leave in coffin. Jessie : Which are you? Grinko : I'm too old to leave. Just do my job.
Jessie : "Kill All My Demons And My Angels Might Die Too".
The movie is quite good, is interesting and has more mystical approach and not stupid typical American horror. What caught me is the story of the film that is quite successful. It reminds me a bit of Alice in Wonderland, only it's darker and more like a Stephen King's story. The actors did pretty well, especially because they are young. One of my favorite scenes is : A little girl crying in the toilet, and suddenly the light goes out, the toilet door opens and the girl bleeding and limping slowly approaching to Julie (Haley Bennett). So the movie is good, I really didn't expect to be so good, especially the end when Dane (Chris Massoglia) and his little brother Lucas (Nathan Gamble) face their father as a demonic embodiment.
Yep, this movie is awesome in every way, it is so enjoying and fun. And even if actors are young the acting is surprisengly good, in a way the movie looks very professional and mature. After Kick-Ass, this movie is taken to a whole new level, the great combination between action and video games like Mortal Combat, Double Dragon, The King of Fighters, Tekken, Dragon Ball Z and many more. The combat movements are inspired by these games, and the scenes are very awesome, something like comics and The Matrix fighting movements, when Scott has to confront Ramona's seven evil ex-boyfriends like in the fighting video game. The computer effects are simply great, the visual impact of special effects is well placed and directed, Mr. Wright I must say one thing...............Braaavoo!! So, for those who do not appreciate or do not play video games, I do not think they will really enjoy this movie.
Of course the original is better, but this version is all so awesome. At the end of the movie it still has this awesome vibe as the original. In a few words : The movie is brilliant, and Chloe Moretz was more than great.
