Ratatouille 2007,  G)
Ratatouille
I just saw this movie 2 months ago, and until now, it still gives me the same feeling whenever I think about it. Clearly, this is an animated film, but unlike others, it is not only for children, but also for grown-ups like us. And, this is not only a film about a mouse who loves cooking, it is a story about a character trying to overcome all difficulties and obstacles to achieve his dreams. Maybe it's a little bit too imaginary, but it's an animated one, so that's OK. I think this is an important film, especially nowadays, when we have started to forget how to love, how to pursue our dreams and how to treasure every moment. This, Ratatouille, is not only a short-timed pastime, but leaves us deep thinking that may lead to a more positive way of life.

Pride and Prejudice 2005,  PG)
Pride and Prejudice
I read the novel first, and then watched the movie. Honestly, the on-screen version of the novel is a little bit too fast - everything happens one right after another. The plot seems to be shortened a lot, and it gives me the idea that things in the film didn't go on like they do in real life. You know, too cursory, too hasty, I was really surprised how they could do so or how they could think so in such a short time. You now, like quicksilver! However, the actors' actings are really good! Keira really shows everybody that she is indeed a talent, with all the crying and smiling and thinking just like one lively Elizabeth. Moreover, I especially like the actor who stars Mr.Darcy (Matthew Macfadyen). He is not as arrogant as in the story, but somewhat causes my sympathy and affinity towards him. He is really good beside Keira too. They make a really good couple. After all, this movie deserves its numerous nominations for the Oscar. By the way, I really love the accent! So cool! I always love English-accent speaking movies!

Forrest Gump 1994,  PG-13)
Forrest Gump
A classic, my all time favorite and a must see for everyone who loves Tom Hanks! What to say, in this movie, he's young and so naive, but his acting is wonderful. Where is the mature Tom Hanks with witty look? We cannot see him, we just see Forrest Gump with his special look and act. I can see that Tom Hanks no longer exists. That face, that look, that action all belong to Forrest Gump - a boy with unbelievable will! The most amazing scene is when Forrest runs by his own feet, unforgettable!

Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit 2005,  G)
Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
A wonderful movie. It's hilariously funny! I can't help but laugh from the very start to the end. Plus, this one is a mixture, I think, of many types: a little horror, a little comedy, a little romance... And it turns out to be extremely good, which is not a misnomer for an Oscar winner. My family gathered by the TV on a Saturaday evening and had a really good time watching it. The characters with the lines are so cool! But above all, I have to say again, are many jocular details. From the appearances of the characters to their words and the sound and many other little funny scenes... they made my Saturday unforgettable!

My rating: 99/100

The Terminal 2004,  PG-13)
The Terminal
An experiment for Tom Hanks? The plot is normal, not very exciting; however, it is a romantic one that may take your tears. I don't like this as other films of Tom, but somehow sometime, I reconsider, and think this may be one of Tom's best films ever. The most memorable scene from this movie is the time when he has to live in the airport and tries to find money by all means. Really interesting a fantasy - that is! After all, this is a good combination of Steven and Tom, right?

Moulin Rouge 1952,  Unrated)
Moulin Rouge
This is the very first film that I watched totally in English (without subtitles)! A very touching movie! The love story is common, but it still made me cry at that time. I really don't want that unhappy ending! I really love the guy (Ewan)! He's cute, and he helps the showgirl realize what is true love. The very first part of the movie is funny, especially the situation when the couple first met each other. Besides, it's also an excellent musical movie! The familiar tunes (such as Cancan) go into every audience's heart easily. Until now I still remember every single word of the song "All you need is love". Really inspiring song! Love it! Never do I feel all of Nicole's beauty until I saw this movie!

Finding Nemo 2003,  G)
Finding Nemo
An animated movie? Yes! An inspiring movie? Yes! Honestly, in the last two years, I've watched this movie 5 times! Although I have already known the plot, I still want to see it over and over again! The graphics are excellent, especially the ocean's color - that blue - oh, obsessing! And the scene when the school of fish is dancing - amazing! I couldn't believe that everything that I see is just a work done by human! Really wonderful! Not only the graphics, the plot is also really good, especially for children! With love, even animals can do anything! And with friendship, you can also try anything! That reminds me of Dory - a very funny character! She's so cute and unforgettable! Love her a lot!

Titanic (in 3D) 2012,  PG-13)
Titanic (in 3D)
This is the very first "adult" movie that I have ever seen. The time I saw it 7 years ago, the movie didn't give me such strong emotions about love, about how one can sacrifice for love. But now, to a 18-year-old girl, whenever I watch the movie, I think I can feel the beating of Jack's heart when he first met Rose, or the passion when they kiss, and when they look into each other's eyes. The creative way of narrating makes the movie an irresistible and touching love story of all time, attracting me from the very first start. Moreover, the music is wonderful; it follows the plot, the scenes perfectly. Honestly, it is the music that helps bring the emotion to the highest, together with the awesome actings of Leonardo and Kate. The two actors make such a wonderful couple, which I think can be viewed as modern "Romeo and Juliet".

Love Actually
A mixture of many love stories - from tragic to hilarious ones taking in many places! Honestly, this is really a "blockbuster" with so many famous actors. It seems to be a little bit too abstruse to follow the plot at first, 'cause there are so many characters and stories. However, once you get to know them well, you will fall in love with every single one and realize that, "This is the best Christmas film ever!"

Cruel Intentions
I saw this movie maybe 6 months ago, and I found it really interesting. The first thing about the movie is that the plot is attractive right from the start. You know, one depraved girl pretends to be a nice student and always try to bait her half-brother (son of her mother's second husband)! And this guy likes her so much that he can do anything for her, including trick a naive girl. And, from that occasion, the guy knows what is true love, but it's too late. The ending is unhappy for the guy and the naive girl (Reese Witherspoon), but is fair for the evil one. Although there are many "PG-13" scenes in the movies, the real value of the movie lies in the relationship between the couple. I still remember the scene when the guys decides to tell Reese the truth. Everything he thinks he knows about women is no longer true, because he now loses the woman he loves most. And, again, the ending is so unfair to the man, he's dead in a car accident when he is running to meet Reese and makes her believe him. A really touching movie!
There is also another interesting fact. The couple in the movie soon got married in real life. But unfortunately, after nearly 10 years together, they got divorced. Another unhappy ending!

Spirited Away
A very touching movie with specific japanese-anime-and-culture style, and I like it. But above all is the plot. It may be a little strange to me at first, not strange or new in the way like other animations (such as Mandagasca or Over the hedge) but somehow rather "meditative" with unimaginable characters. Honestly, I think this anime is not for children, and even some adults cannot understand it thoroughly. And, in my case, after watching it over and over again, I know I still miss something, the meaning that I know several times watching cannot merely help me grasp the whole value that the director gave to it with all his heart. And, whenever I watch this movie, I have to spend much time to think, about life, about friendship and other values in the world around. It may seem "nuts" to some, but it's a really good way to help me feel relaxed after so many things have happened.

Pearl Harbor 2001,  PG-13)
Pearl Harbor
An all-time romance classic! To be honest, in this movie, Evelyn (Kate Beckinsale) is so beautiful - and I think maybe this is her prettiest character compared to hers from other movies! The first time I saw her, I had to exclaim; she made such a wonderful couple with Rafe (Ben Affleck). Although after a serious misunderstanding, Eve became Danny's lady (Josh Harnette), she and Rafe still made a perfect couple. Beside a plot full of historical details, this movie also offers us a really nice love story. That is, when friendship becomes rivalry, and when your woman becomes another's. However, the ending is emotional and reasonable. The war connected the two guy and they fought side by side. But, later in another battlefield, Danny died in Rafe's hands. Now, Rafe - as Danny's dying wish - becomes Danny and Eve's son father. The movie ends in a really serene scene, when Rafe and young Danny flied up in the sunset, Eve smiled happily.

P/S: The effects in this movie are also amazing! The bomb, the wind, the sound make us think as if we were there, right at the scene!

Big 1988,  PG)
Big
Yay Yay Yay! Again, Tom Hanks makes me think that he is usually very successful in "naive" roles. Look at Forrest Gump - a real blockbuster and masterpiece. And now, with "Big", Tom once again succeeded in depicting a childish characteristic inside a grownup appearance. Though this movie is not as good as "Forrest Gump", it is also not a short-termed pastime that can be easily forgotten. To start with, the plot is new and rather strange - but who cares, especially when the movie can attract the viewers' attention from the beginning to the very end? It all began with an odd machine at the fair, and then BUM - a boy became a real man the next morning and inadvertently scared his mother to death! :D And surprisingly, his naivete, which I had thought to be a real drawback, helped him succeed in life. Besides the really good plot and acting, I still don't like some minor details of the movie. That is, when Josh (Tom Hanks) kissed Susan - the time I saw this scene, I wondered what the director was thinking! I don't consider it to be really necessary. In other words, I think that little scene indeed spoilt the whole film! The gap between them was too large, and despite the appearance, Josh was still a little boy. How could that kiss be made? A little romance - but not in the right place!

Besides that little flaw, I think this movie is worth your time!

Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring 2003,  R)
Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring
The very first movie of Kiduk Kim that I have ever watched. Honestly, I was immediately attracted by its really long and... "cryptic" name. A real zen movie, that's how I may say about it. There are very few words, or almost no words at all through out nearly 100 minutes of the movie. Covering the whole film is the nature, really beautiful scenery indeed. Time passes, connecting by the scenes of two closing and opening doors of the pagodas. If you are acute, you can notice many wonderful details. For example: the doors have no walls, the pagoda is alone in the lake, there are only a monk and a baby boy living together... Moreover, each season comes, there are new animals presenting for each characteristics of human, or more precisely, the changes in the little monk's nature. This movie is not for relaxing, it makes you think a lot. About the chain of life, about causes and effects in life... The last scene of the movie is so symbolistic: the old monk, after being so hurt because of the harsh rules of life, decided to kill himself. He attached papers to his eyes, his ears, his mouth and burned himself. This action, I think, means that he no longer wants to observe those things. And then, in the ashes, a snake appeared, representing the circulation of life...

Music and Lyrics
Amazing movie! The songs are incredible, together with the sweet, soft voices of Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. It has been a really long time since I last listened to such romantic and inspiring music. Really, the songs are way so good, and it makes my heart beating with emotion and feelings of being loved. The plot is quite simple but cute, and attractive. I really love the couple, they are so good together. Hugh Grant looked better in the very first part of the movie, while Drew is beautiful all the time. What an emotional and inspiring movie! Although I'm not in love yet, but when I watch this movie, I feel as if I was the happiest girl in the world!

Something New 2006,  PG-13)
Something New
This is a typical romance movie. The plot is all about the difficulties facing by two lovers, that is, racial discrepancy. The movie doesn't go to such extremes as in other movies concerning this theme, but rather romantic and gentle. And the ending is typically "Cinderella", she chooses the guy she really loves and has a hapy life. The female character is acctualy a new face to me, but I think she will make another "Halley Berry".

Ru guo Ai (Perhaps Love) 2005,  Unrated)
Ru guo Ai (Perhaps Love)
Amazing movie! The first musical film of Hong Kong after more than 30 years! And this one deserves all the awards and prizes for it. The first thing to praise about is the acting. The three main characters (Sun Na, Lin, Nie) performed really well: I cannot see themselves as actors, I see themselves as the pitiful characters in their own triangle love. Even the minor actor performed excellently, too (Jin Ji Jie from South Korea). Nie, the director in the film, was rather more sinned against than sinning. He was just the victim of the opportunistic Sun Na, Sun Na was the victim of her own opportunism and Lin was the victim of his own fate and love. A little bit tragic movie. The ending is not kind of a fairy tale one, it didn't bring them together nor created happiness for all. In the end, each one went his own ways - like in the real life, though it may seem harsh. Many didn't agree with the ending, but I think it was just fine. It showed that life is like this: too severe to bear, not just like those stories we learned in our childhood. And, you have to pay for what you have done. Love is unconditional, it surpassed everything else in the world, even pride, dignity and opportunism.

Another plus for this movie is the music. The music is just right; it represents the emotion of the actors, the rising and falling of the scenes. Actually, the music is really adorable: it is not just suitable, it is amazing. And I even think that if the songs are separated from the movie, they will make hits! Both the songs, the actors and the plot raised me to the climax of my emotion. It is one of the best musical movies I have ever seen, after "Moulin Rouge".

A worthy movie, for those in love and those have been in love.
