Kick-Ass
I hadn't hyped up this film at all. When I first heard about it I thought it was going to be some crap, cheesy teenage comedy but then I heard nothing but excellent reviews about it and I started to get excited.
I simply cannot flaw it. The only thing that I noticed that was wrong was that the marshmallows hadn't melted on the hot chocolates when they got back (which I only noticed because the guy next to me said it).
The style it's shot in is superb. It grabs you from the word go with a great opening. The introduction to each of the characters are amazing. It's so funny and the audience was laughing the whole time. The best character is easily Hit Girl who makes a superb entrance into the film.
I wont say anything that happens in the film but it's full of laughs all the way through and so many quotes that don't seem out of place at all. The pacing is great and the soundtrack sounded weird when I saw the track-list on iTunes but is AMAZING and fits into the film perfectly and maintains it's comic feel and that it's not taking itself to seriously.
At least three times I thought the film was going to end when it didn't. I'm not complaining but it just had so many amazing scenes in it.
The cast are great in their roles and none of them feel out of place. There's jokes and laughs coming thick and fast from all directions, and there's lots of references in it that will please comic book fans.
I'm surprised the film actually got a 15 rating. There's so much gore and swearing that I'm surprised it wasn't an 18. I'm not complaining though as I think film ratings need to relax a bit.

It's hard to put how amazing this film was into words. It's easily one of the best films I've ever seen and I recommend all of you to go and see it.
I really want to see it again though which is something I don't usually want to do with films in the cinema.
Anyway... Kick Ass is an AMAZING film and I recommend it highly to everyone. I for one will definitely be getting the DVD (or Blu-Ray) the day it comes out.

Fight Club
Really good film. Gripping story and great acting. Edward Norton acts amazingly well as does Brad Pitt and create very real and believable characters.
It did get quite confusing towards the end and I'm still not sure if I understood it correctly. But nevertheless it's an amazingly well done film.
Certainly in my top five movies and I recommend it to everyone.

The Fall 2006,  R)
The Fall
Such an amazing film. The locations are perfect and were shot on 26 locations over 18 countries, and it really pays off.
It's great to have another film that has little (if any) special effects in it and the visuals are stunning.
The characters are really believable and develop their own feelings with the audiences as you work out who you can trust and fitting it all together. The scripting also seemed to flow nicely and nothing seems unreal about it.
Such a sweet and charming film and takes you away from the real world. This is of course helped by the fantastic musical score which perfectly fits in with the scenes and helps bring out more depth in the film.
Definitely worth viewing and I highly recommend it. It's certainly in my top three films.

American Psycho 2000,  R)
American Psycho
Great film. Knew it would be good but it was completely different to how I expected it was going to be portrayed.
Christian Bale shows a stunning performance and is able to switch between a calm businessman into a deranged killer without fault.
Although some say that Bale's performance makes the rest of the cast seem insignificant and like their not there although I felt that it was good as the focus is meant to be on this character you see developing before you and that's how he probably sees everyone else. Mindless objects and are all dispensable.
Overall a great film and I recommend it to everyone.

[Rec] 2007,  R)

Rec:
It's a Spanish film but it has subtitles. It's filmed in the same way as 'Cloverfeild' and the 'Blair Witch project'.
I had never heard of this film but went into the DVD section of ASDA and read the summary so went home and did some research on it.
Through it's reviews they've said that it contains one of the scariest scenes in any horror movie. AND IT BLOODY WELL LIVES UP TO IT! The final scene was the most amazing, frightening, terrifying scene I have seen in my whole live.
The whole film is about a news reporter and a cameraman who are filming at a fire station to record what they get up to during the night shifts. They get called out with news that an old lady has got trapped in her apartment so they set of to see what they can do. Upon arrival, many of the other residents are gathered on the ground floor by the staircase as they were hearing screams coming from her apartment even though see lives on her own. The fire brigade and some police officers go up to have a look. From then on it's a crazy ass horror tale as the building gets blocked off and they are refused to be let out. But they aren't being told why.
There are loads of moments that make you jump and unlike most films where it's really predictable they seem to know the right moments to catch you off guard.

And like I said that final scene is just. AAARRRRGGGGGGGGHHHH
Go watch it now. If you dare.

Final score:
9.9/10 (For being the only film to truly scare me)

Hot Fuzz:
Absolutely stunning film. I've lost count how many times I've seen this film and it always impresses me. Ever since I saw the first 'viral' trailer on the internet I got hooked and couldn't wait for the film to come out.
I never thought anything could top Simon Pegs and Nick Frosts performances from when they did Shaun of the Dead. So I was pleasantly surprised when I came out of the cinema grinning and thoroughly please with how amazing the film was.
It just has the perfect mix of comedy, horror, action and more comedy in a film. So anything that mixes all my favourite genres together must be good right? Yes. It damn well is.
If you haven't seen this film then what are you waiting for. You won't be dissapointed.

Really witty and clever comedy. I really liked the idea of a remote that controls everything. But it also shows that as amazing as it is, it can change your life for the worst in an instant.
It also had a really deep message about how you should enjoy every little bit of life and take it as slow as it comes.
There were quite a few moments where I laughed out loud as it reached it's emotional ending. Although they did take the easy way out when the story turns for worse as it was all a dream.
Even though they did do that, they made it work and showed how the whole event made him take a look at his life and change it for the better.
Worth viewing and really enjoyable to watch.
