Oldboy 2004,  R)
Oldboy
A fantastic, ultra-violent South Korean thriller with a theme of vengeance that has some disturbing and depraved twists throughout.

From start to finish the film is very engaging. It doesn't drag and never gets boring.

Overall, the film is quite unsettling and unnerving. This is due to the films thematic content and the way the storyline eventually plays itself out.

Oldboy is bold, intense, audacious and brilliant. An excellent film.

Face/Off 1997,  R)
Face/Off
Director John Woo's best English language movie to date. His American films haven't been as good quality wise as his Hong Kong ones which were highly influential and reinvented the action genre. This is a fun movie with lots of action. John Travolta and Nicholas Cage have a lot of fun with their roles by mocking each other as soon as the screenplay and plot calls for it. The role reversal plot is carried out in a very entertaining way.
