The Dark Knight The Dark Knight PG-13
I'm sorry to say it up-front but I think "The Dark Knight" is the most over-rated movie of the year. Well, I don't object to the fact that it's a wonderful superhero movie, but a movie in general? Well, I don't know for sure. Certainly, the visual effects, the Batman gadgets and the villains are wonderful, but I left the cinema feeling it didn't live up to my expectations.

I just want to say something about the villains. Maybe Heath Ledger's performance received critical acclaim all over, but let not deny the fact that the thing happened in late January this year surely had an effect on this. It doesn't mean that I don't acknowledge his performance (and honestly, I was quite impressed), but I don't like the way it was hyped up everywhere. Personally, I prefer Harvey Dent/Two-Face, although he was shadowed by Joker. If Batman is the hero and Joker is the villain, Two-Face, like his name, is a bittersweet mixture of those two, a fallen "white knight" who was so blinded by hatred that he forgot the idealism he's been after. In fact, I was quite sympathetic with Harvey Dent/Two-Face, thanks to the superb performance of Aaron Eckhart.

Anyway, I enjoyed the 2 hours and a half I spent at the cinema for this film. The all-star (?) cast really did give an enjoyable work here, although some of them weren't given right credits. If I have to rate this, I give it 3.75/5. It's a magnificent movie for sure, but I don't think it's worth all the hype. In my opinion, if not for some certain things, this movie will receive another light.

What a world!
It has an unbelieveable plot - you can't believe it could happen, but it could, and it makes you believe - that's unbelievable. Well, I don't think I'm making any sense, but it's the way this film makes me feel. There was nothing much happening in the first half, but the second was worth the wait.

Forrest Gump Forrest Gump PG-13
It's my all time favourite movie. I watched it when I was only a small child, just about 5 or 6, and honestly, I can't remember much of it, but the impression it made on me is permanent. A man who sat on the bench, his insecure eyes watching everything happening in front of his life, like he'd never been a part of it... And how similar he was to me... Tom Hanks gave an excellent work here, which made me his fan ever since. He didn't act as Gump: he is Gump, from appearance to eyes, even from the way he looks at people... and how he captured my heart by this movie :)
Taegukgi hwinalrimyeo (Brotherhood) (Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War) Taegukgi hwinalrimyeo (Brotherhood) (Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War) R
Fierce yet gentle, bloody yet emotional and can move anyone to tears, that's all I can say in short for this movies.

It's about two brother in war, when they didn't know what they were fighting for, what was the meaning of all those dead, and how they changed, from two innocent young men, lovely brothers to those something they'd never thought they could be...

I've always thought of Jang Dong-gun and Won Bin as some pretty-face but their acting in this movie made me change my mind. I would never forget those loving scenes of Jin-tae and Jin-seok's brotherhood, how their smile shined when Jin-tae bought his brother an ice cream, how he sacrificed his life for his brother's safety... Would never forget the scene when they faced each other as enemies, two dark faces covered in blood and mud drawing close to each other, two bloody red pairs of eyes staring into each other, with gunfire and bomb exploding in background... And what stood above all the dead, all the killing, all the hatred, when Jin-tae cried out "Jin-seok...", is their brotherly love for each other, the forever love nothing can get a finger on...

If you're just a war movies fan in particular or a movies fan in general in general, "Taegukgi" is a film I would strongly recommend, except for the somewhat over-portrayed violence.
