Ghostbusters
My all time favourite film just got better! All thanks to blu-ray. In my estimation this is the funniest film ever! The whole film is played so straight (with the possible exception of Rick Moranis) its hilarious! Bill Murray is a god! Sigourney Weaver is a goddess! William Atherton is very underrated as the "dickless" Walter Peck. Dan Aykroyd has one of the best lines in cinematic history. Listen... do you smell something? I dread to think how many times I've seen this film. I never tire of it, and now my five year old has just watched it for the first time and loved it as well.

A Horror masterpiece. John Carpenter is a genius!

Reservoir Dogs 1992,  R)
Reservoir Dogs
This is one of my all time favourite films but I hadnt seen it for a couple of years. So I jumped at the chance to view it on blu-ray. Its great seeing this with a crisp 1080p picture but it doesnt take away from the grimness of the film. This film is all about the dialogue. The cast are amazing. Harvey Keitel and Steve Buscemi being the stand outs. This reminds you that no matter what mediocre films he' smade in recent years, Tarantino is a genius and can make truly extraordinary films.

Martyrs 2008,  R)
Martyrs
Oh my god! WOW! How can a film do this to me? Its the most brutal thing I've ever viewed but somehow simultaneously its the most amazing mind blowing viewing experience I've ever had! I'm someone who has spent a life time watching every kind of horror film imaginable, Sitting through most laughing my head off. I didn't laugh once watching this. It is an extremely scary and exceptionally suspenseful. I cant quite explain what genre to put it in? Its a revenge drama. Its a ghost film. Its extreme torture gorno. It has trances of Salo and moments of Hellraiser. It is very realistic in its violence, never cartoonish like a Saw film. It's a gala of intense human suffering, malice, and malevolence that is incredibly difficult to stomach. But somehow ends up being exceedingly poetic and something very beautiful and thought provoking. Although this maybe one of the most exceptional horror films ever made. I would not dare recommend it. It is undoubtedly not for everyone. My other half watched this with me and ended up being physically sick. Not because of the films graphic gore, but because of how intense the film is. I think Martyrs is a real milestone in horror.

Zombie Strippers 2008,  R)
Zombie Strippers
This movie is awesome! Gore, girls and heavy rock music in a sleazy strip club, what's not to like? Robert Englund is hilarious in this film. Jenna Jameson - well I've seen enough of her gentleman's films to know she could act - she does a very competent job here, and has no problems making fun of herself in the process. I've not enjoyed a film so much in a long time. Over the top gore, plenty of T&A and loads of deadpan comedy. Also watch out for the most ingenious use of cue balls ever in a film. Genius!

Two movies for the price of one! I love this film. Sadly I saw this film by accident? Got sent it by video club when I hadn?t even ordered it. Got bored and watched it and fell in love.
I think it helped that I didn?t know it was going to be vampire film. Nice surprise.
Cheech Marin steels the show!

Halloween
At last Michael Myers is scary again. Zombie's version is brilliant! The casting of the near 7ft Tyler Mane as Michael Myers was a stroke of genus! It is a Myers film rather that being all about Laurie Strode. Malcolm McDowell makes a very good Dr. Loomis. The action has a very brutal and real feeling to it. As well as the "re-imaginingā?? You get a wonderful insight into why Michael's childhood caused him to become a masked killer. As a Halloween fan I was very nervous of what it would turn out like? But also being a fan of Zombieā??s work I had high hopes and Iā??m glad to say that Rob Zombie hasnā??t let me down. Also during the film you will find yourself playing spot the devils rejects.
It short- lovely stuff!

Doesn't Rob Zombie make you sick? Is there nothing this guy can't turn his hand too? He is a creative genius! What he has unleashed here is one totally un-PC piece of animation. The whole thing is filled to the brim with extreme amounts of gore, immature toilet humour, blasphemous strippers and hilarious gratuitous nudity. Every bit of this film from the characters to the soundtrack is utterly outrageous. So many nods to other films to watch out for. The voice talents of Tom Kenny, Tom Papa and Paul Giamatti are amazing. Even room in this for cameos from Devils Rejects Otis and Captain Spaulding (Moseley & Haig) I loved every second of this film and just know I will end up watching it over and over again. The only thing that worried me was the Suzi X character voiced by Sheri Moon Zombie. Is it wrong to find a cartoon character sexually attractive?
