The Ides of March R

Let me just start by saying that this is a very slow movie. The first hour seemed to last two. Getting past that, Clooney directs an extremely gifted cast in a character based drama. Clooney, in support, gives a wonderful performance, as does Gosling. Its great to see Gosling stand toe to toe alongside Hoffman and Giamati.

30 Minutes or Less R

There are really good comedic performances delivered in the film. Ansari hands down gives the best one. The storyline overall is good. Doesn't become something more than what it is. McBride gives his usual arrogant ass performance like he does in most of his roles lately. Overall, this is a very funny movie.

The Shawshank Redemption R

Beautifully directed. Great story. Unbelievable acting by Robbins and Freeman.

The Dark Knight PG-13

I'm writing this one down as one of my top 5 films of all time. Ledger's performance is everything the hype says it is. If you take away the "Batman" aspect of the film, the story being told goes down as one of the best ever. The characters develop quite nicely throughout the film. At its core, the Joker is one of the best written characters ever, again, only enhanced by Ledger's performance. Bale again proves that he is the best actor to have ever taken on the role. Nolan's direction of the actors and the action scenes is perfect. I'm torn between wanting to see a 3rd installment versus letting this one stand as the best comic film ever. One thing is for sure, 50 years from now if someone decides to make another Batman film, he or she should not include the Joker character.
