The first time I saw this movie I never ever forgot about it. Never forgot the love I had for Patrick Verona ie. Heath Ledger. It took me years to find the movie, and I still love it the second time, and the subsequent times after that. Man I just love this movie to death.
Formula is just right. It is a teen comedy that's pretty predictable but it is by far the most intelligent one (the main characters that carry the movie, the supporting ones are still pretty shallow), but I absolutely love the dialogue, the wit and the sarcasm was just the way I like it.
then you have Heath Ledger singing. always ALWAYS makes the fangirl in me giggle hysterically.
Such a simple story of a girl finding love. Audrey Tautou is absolutely charming as Amelie. I just love this French film, I'm sure anyone else will! But you need patience in redaing thru the subs, not unless you speak french.
I lost all feeling in my arms when I watched this. Funny enough, I watched this with a friend on Valentines Day, it is about love of family after all. haha.
Superb direction. It was absolutely sick and twisted, which makes it so damn good.
awesome awesome movie. natalie portman was terrific, she was beautiful even when she was bald for crying out loud!! best comic adaptation ever. and, *sigh* hugo weaving's voice. dang.
I'd say this movie was a little overrated, but I did enjoy it. It was a family movie, just not for kids. XD
I enjoyed all of the major casts' performances but I have to explicitly say that I really really liked the character connection of Paul Dano and Steve Carell.
What's weird was I found the other Little Miss Sunshine contestants (you know, the ones that looked like mini-me(s) of hollywood plastic surgery patients) more disturbing than Olive's striptease. XD
It wasn't what I expected, actually, it was better. Made me laugh.
Visuals were great, pretty vibrant colors. (This is actually the first video I uploaded in my Ipod nano 3G, just to test it out, and despite the small screen, I really thought the cinematography was excellent.)
The story is quite simple enough. But the characters were almost polar opposites, yet it wasn't weird seeing them becoming friends.
from the title, to the poster, you can tell right off the bat that this is not your normal movie. and when you start watching it, it just pretty much shouts WEIRD.
and I expected it to make sense as the movie progresses and though it did (somehow) it wasn't the in a way that I expected.
But of course this movie is bound to be that way. It's directed by Park Chan-Wook. duh.
Very interesting film, about a love story blossoming in a mental asylum. Beautiful visuals. And for a first time big screen actor, Rain was great. I'd recommend this movie, but it's certainly not everyone's cup of tea.
Other people have commented that they liked this park chan wook film than oldboy. Although they are both still about revenge (seeing that these are part of the vengeance trilogy), Park said it himself that the films show different facets of vengeance.
I personally prefer Oldboy over this. Not that it was a bad movie. I still love the direction and cinematography of this film. I was a little dissappointed by the end of the film, possibly because I watched it with certain expectations. But I take it to be my fault, not the movie's.
beautiful in every sense of the word. I'm always amazed at how director Kim Ki Duk can say so much with so little dialogue (as with the case of his other movie 3-Iron/Empty Houses.)
It is my biggest regret that I put off watching this for soooo long, because I thought this was one of those asian movies that are, although beautiful (in cinematography), also bit boring because of it's slow pace. I thought wrong.
The reason this didn't get all five stars is because I only liked but didn't love the scenes of the remaining two seasons. It works because it shows a cycle, but other than that fact, I didn't see anything else. Also, I would've preferred if they still used the same actor for the teen and the grown man, (or at least a pair who resembles each other more).
You also see what happens when you put an adolescent girl in the proximity of an adolescent boy who lives in the middle of nowhere and hasn't really seen anybody else but his shifu. (you know, with all those hormones...) But that's really not the point of the movie though. :P
I must say, it took me a while to watch this, because I'm not really a fan of anime. I much prefer live-action. But once you get hooked there's no stopping, no matter how droppy my eyes were.
A movie for children, not in a way that it's all cutesy childish; no, the movie is for the open-minded, or the ones with a big imagination. You don't get any explanation for all the things that happen. You just accept that these things exists in a whole different fantasy world.
Trust, bravery, friendship, love, hardwork and determination, and a whole bunch more values are taken up in this movie, but despite that, it never got preachy, (except maybe for the love part, but I can forgive that. :p)
Think along the lines of Bridge to Terabithia, Pan's Labyrinth. If you liked those, then I recommend this one for you. :)
*I wish to watch this with original japanese audio though. I only have the english dub.
A girl almost run over a guy who now has amnesia because of it. With no contact info on him, the girl is forced to take care of him herself until he gets his memory back.
During the course of their living together, they fall in love. But their feelings are questioned when he starts to remember who he really is.
I'm sorry, I write crappy summaries, but I think this is a MUST WATCH!
I'm not sure what constitutes as a spoiler for this movie, but even if you knew the twist, it doesn't take much away from watching this film. Heck, you can even figure it out by looking closely at the poster. Still, I'm not gonna spoil it for you.
