The Boy in the Striped Pajamas (The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas)
sad, sweet movie. if same story will happen to every warpig around the world, then war should've been just a nightmare from the past. sometimes people get so selfish that they could only think about their lives and how things would affect 'just' them. i wonder how the world would be if everyone would think the way these kids do.

Up 2009,  PG)
Up
two months and nine days since the film was shown in the US. unluckily it's the first day here in Manila. whew! that's quite a long wait but it's worth! goodness. though i wasn't expecting i would cry the whole time(I cried 5 to 6 times while watching the film! seriously) the film was brilliant. very touching. indeed, pixar people are truly genius. they know where the spot is and they just hit it. they always offer fresh menu for the starving movie lovers who's craving for something new.
can't wait for the next Pixar Film!
I love it. I do. darn I love it!

The Brothers Bloom 2008,  PG-13)
The Brothers Bloom
Penelope Stamp: Yeah. You're constipated. In your fucking soul. I think there is a great, humongous wad of poop up your soul's ass.

interesting characters, clever plot, great acting, awesome chemistry, and undeniably great film. will keep you up from the beginning till the end. will keep you asking what happened and what will happen next and after the last scene, you'll only get the answers to the remaining questions from yourself.

Adam 2009,  PG-13)
Adam
I must admit I always had an eye for film characters like Adam has, an extreme combination of strength and weakness, not an extreme weakness alone like Tom in 500 days of summer. This reminds me of Boy A and gave me the same depressing feeling in the end. yet unlike Boy A, I was depressed because I know the ending could have been better, I don't know, I'm not sure what it should be but the last part is lacking something.

Seven (Se7en)
i never felt this terrified while watching a film in a long time. My fave Fincher film so far. Kevin Spacey was really good at this. he's creepy. although I figured out the villain as soon as his first scene and kinda predicted the end part, it still creeped the hell out of me. this film was beautiful a masterpiece indeed. you guys need to watch this.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
One of the best films of 2010 yet, unfortunately didn't do well in the box office because movie goers preferred watching Vampires Suck. (What's wrong with the world?!) Edgar Wright deserves the highest recognition for this experimental masterpiece.

you want an ultimate post summer cinema experience? take my advice: grab a buddy, go to the movie house, buy a ticket for this film and leave your brain in the ticket booth. this movie is hysterical! I had so much fun watching this that I'm tempted to watch it again! Sharlto Copley steals the show! Face is hot, Hanniba...l is hotter, Barracus is badass and Murdock is insanely hilarious, adorable superstar! don't listen to the critics, they missed the fun coz they're too busy examining the details so they can write something and sound smart in their reviews. again, keep your brain away from you and enjoy:) but oh there's one thing though, the shaky camera is a mistake.

The Dreamers 2003,  NC-17)
The Dreamers
I can't believe this is the film joan was talking about. i bumped the movie poster on tumblr, the title made me think It's an inspirational film so I watched it, I was wrong but I didn't mind. the movie was intense, except for the ending. I'm not sure if it is the film that lacks the stress in its political issues or it's just me not understanding a single french word since their political conversations were mostly in french. story revolves around the main characters' cultural differences (american and french) and common passion (films). I personally think the nudity is a bit too much. and yes, the relationship of the siblings is so weird. oh well, it's french, i guess for them it's normal. most unforgettable role of Michael Pitt so far. politics, passion for films, weird sexual relationship, what else can you ask for?

A Complete History of My Sexual Failures 2008,  Unrated)
A Complete History of My Sexual Failures
an interesting documentary about Chris Waitt (a man with the saddest eyes among the sad eyes I'd seen as far as I can remember), a film director, who made a project of getting in touch with his ex girlfriends to figure out what could possibly be the reasons why his relationships with these women didn't work out and end...ed up with the girls dumping him. Some scenes were extremely hilarious, others were so moving, heart breaking, you can't help but feel so bad about Chris, while some were just simply awkward.

the film is very brave and Chris did a great job putting together the videos very well. All the credits goes to Chris Waitts, I think he's wonderful and I hope he's happy now :) obviously I was a little carried away.

Kick-Ass 2010,  R)
Kick-Ass
it's a kick-ass film! surpassed my expectations. It's funny, it's sexy, it's entertaining, it's bloody, it's brutal, it's sensual and definitely not for kids. well, what more can I say, I gave it 5 stars! you'll love almost every character specially Hit Girl. she's a total badass here but no, i don't think this film sh...ould be called Hit Girl instead of Kick Ass because Johnson's character is what this movie is all about - average, and 'average is the new exceptional'. Christopher Mintz-Plasse a.k.a Mclovin from superbad a.k.a. Red Mist, man is it so weird to find him very amusing? and when I say amusing I also mean, attractive;)

We Live in Public 2009,  Unrated)
We Live in Public
this man is insane! this film is insane. I think Josh Harris is a crazy badass. I'm not even sure how i ended up watching this movie but I'm so glad I did. how come no one has ever heard of him? and like no one has ever watched this film either?! this is a pretty interesting docu about how a simple man took one hell of a ride with his vision and interesting experiments.

after watching his underground bunker experiment, I have to take a break and grab a caramel sundae outside my place cause the scenes made me wish I was there, at that particular time, and I feel a little depressed because I know I can't.

2010: The Year We Make Contact 1984,  PG)
2010: The Year We Make Contact
intense and it does explain a lot about all my confusions in 2001. how come i kept on skipping this one? if you happened to watch the 2001, make sure you'll see this.

i don't know but i feel strange everytime i hear those computer voices, specially HAL's. but this film make me like him:) when he told dave that he is scared, a picture of a kid popped up. aawww...

Ink 2009,  Unrated)
Ink
"They're all reactions! One thing begets the next. A man has a weakness, he's flawed. That flaw leads him to guilt. The guilt leads... him to shame. The shame he compensates with pride and vanity. And when pride fails, despair takes over and they all lead to his destruction. It will become his fate... Something's gotta stop the flow."

at first i was hesitant to watch this. it started slow so i was even kinda tempted to stop watching it and just take a nap. but i'm so glad i didn't. this film is genius. an indie gem. the story is brilliant. very well written. genius.

Let the Right One In 2008,  R)
Let the Right One In
It's a vampire movie, a horror movie that is so quiet, innocent, and passionate. no special effects, no shirtless men with six pack, no shirtless men with sparkling skin under the sunlight -- just two 12-year old characters in an exceptional coming-of-age story that is, in my opinion, so far the best vampire movie of the 21st century.
33
Brokeback Mountain 2005,  R)
Brokeback Mountain
wow. I can't believe i passed on this one so many times before. this is one great hell of a film! Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal did an awesome job, they're both very convincing and i loved them more, i'd like to think they're real gays now. haha.
34
WALL-E 2008,  G)
WALL-E
I went to a movie house expecting kiddie stuffs that will make you laugh and simply relieve your stress, but this film turned out to be not just like that. if you're at least a bit political person, you would easily recognize that the film is a simple tap to everyone's head, saying that little by little, capitalism is making everyone zombies(i have to use the word because i just read and article about animal zombies).

Léon (The Professional) 1994,  R)
Léon (The Professional)
this film is insane! yea, how come I wasn't able to watch this before? Gary oldman is freaking genius.

Boy A 2007,  R)
Boy A
i love it, i hate it. one of my fave films now. excellent acting specially the lead character. I was attached to him so much that i cannot accept err--spoiler. a minute after the end, i'm still crying.

District 9 2009,  R)
District 9
haven't given five stars for a movie in a long time and earlier i left the cinema with the extent rate on my head. District 9 is fuckidon'tknowwhatexactwordshouldiusetodescribehowgoodthismovieis. brilliant. awesome. genius. the experimental risk of the makers is a huge success. it went far beyond my extreme expectation. This is actually the first alien film that definitely hit my nerves. I love the main characters, though I wasn't expecting the lead will be the *spoiler*. imagine knocking at the house of a cat food eating alien, alien scavengers, and all those crazy ideas? sweet.

Pirate Radio (The Boat That Rocked) 2009,  R)
Pirate Radio (The Boat That Rocked)
music. passion. love. friendship. fun. sex. adventure. hilarious scenes. great casts. definitely one of the best music films of all time and the comedy of the year for me so far. i was laughing my arse out the entire movie! I mean, WE were laughing so hard. very light perfectly packed feel good movie.

and oh not forgetting the OST. darn. 6/5 for soundtrack.

sorry guys, i can't help it, forgive me for saying this:
Tom Wisdom as Midnight Mark is so freaking hot!

Thank You For Smoking 2005,  R)
Thank You For Smoking
wow. never in my wildest imagination have i thought that someone would be able to make a positive film out of a universally negative icon - cigarette. the lead character's points and arguments could never be stressed without genius mind/s behind them. I specially love the way they portray the father and son relationship and characters. a must watch.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off 1986,  PG)
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
woow. 80's comedy there. fresh. feel good. i should've watched this long time ago. anyway, a perfect film for my dark mood. it kinda cheer me up a bit. thanks;-)

Moon 2009,  R)
Moon
Sam Rockwell's performance is remarkable. A film that deals with science and humanity to their extent. I first thought GERTY 3000 would be more like HAL 9000 of 2001, I was wrong. watching this movie is a real pleasure. you don't have to be a scifi fan to love this film. though i know it's a little predictable for some who had watched number of movies in same line, it's still be a good watch. that is an assurance.
42
The Hangover 2009,  R)
The Hangover
I think it's a lot better on my second watch. hehe. maybe I just expected too much. but anyway it is hilarious. the first 30 minutes is a bit boring but after that, things got me to the fun mood. and oh don't forget the soundtrack! men I love wolfmother.
43
The Prestige 2006,  PG-13)
The Prestige
whew! amazing film. makes you wonder and ask questions from time to time until everything will be clear in the end. very well acted, kudos to bale and jackman. my only problem here is the passion turned obsession ended up with obsession to both main character. they were both mad, and you can't get attached to any of them, until the end.
