Ok, not for everyone, but this dialogue film of conceps works very well. Three come to a myseterious place and a conversation between ethos, pathos, and logos embodied by the 3 main characters ensues.
The special edition of this movie adds a half hour extra to the film, especially towards the end. It makes all the difference in the world. It's a favourite all around.
It is a must see movie; nothing else is like it, and the scariest thing is it's based on a true story. After seeing this movie you can understand why the Catholic church wants it banned.
A little shlocky on the special effects, yet the mind games which go on in this movie, not to mention the whole message of it, the movie was ahead of its time. Besides, we get to see a hunky, furry Sean Connery naked for a second, woof.
It's hilariously witty. It ranges from pure slapstick to sheer wit. It helps if you know Shakespeare's 'Hamlet', but you'll enjoy it otherwise. I don't like Richard Dreyfuss acting as a rule, but in this movie, it's spot on.
Such a dark comedy, which is even more relevant in this day and age with terrorists hiding under the bed. It's like 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty' as if written by Franz Kafka.
Loved the storyline, a modern day haunting and a descent from one world into the nether regions of another. I'd change a few things if I were writing/directing it, but it's worth watching, twice even.
Shakespeare adapted to film doesn't always work. This does. Sir L. Olivier's performance outshines other movies I've seen him in, and John Hurt as the Fool outperforms many of his other performances.
