Eraserhead 1977,  R)
Eraserhead
Lynch worked five year on his first full-length movie, to create a surreal and disturbing collage of his phantasms and fears. It is a nightmarish world of alienation and loss of identity, An absurd man named Henry, overwhelmed with fear and passivity is being haunted by his degenerated self, symbolically manifested in his degenerated infant of gender which cannot be identified. That's just one interpretation among lots of alternatives which try to explain the latent logic of Lynch's subconscious.

Die Fälscher (The Counterfeiters) (The Counterfeiter) 2007,  R)
Die Fälscher (The Counterfeiters) (The Counterfeiter)
The Austrian Oscar winner for best foreign movie. It's about concentration camp survival in WWII thanks to the gift of counterfeiting the British pound and the American dollar for the purposes to destroy the allies' economy. Watch it. As I said, it's a masterpiece about survival, not about economy,,,
3
Mean Girls 2004,  PG-13)
Mean Girls
The best high school comedy I watched so far. The star is not Lindsey Lohan, but Rachel McAdams. It's an intelligent movie about teenage narcissism, envy and the urges to be popular
4
In the Valley of Elah 2007,  R)
In the Valley of Elah
The whole movie through, no smile from Tommy Lee Jones. But, no pathos in his suffering.
5
The Tenant 1976,  R)
The Tenant
Alienation is a word too often used to simply define the aesthetics of the absurd.
6
Monster 2003,  R)
Monster
First full-length movie by young and pretty Patty Jenkins and a bullseye. Absolutely brilliant acting by Charlize Theron and a well deserved Oscar for it.
7
Miller's Crossing 1990,  R)
Miller's Crossing
Flawless and cruel.
8
Funny Games 1998,  Unrated)
Funny Games
It's almost masochistic to watch this sadistic movie. Excellent!
9
Deliverance 1972,  R)
Deliverance
When Burt Reynolds is shaved, Jon Voight must take care of things in this movie that is considered by some critics as the best action thriller to the moment it was made.
10
The Celebration (Festen) 1998,  R)
The Celebration (Festen)
A true masterpiece Dogme 95 movie by the director who signed with von Trier the Dogme manifesto.
11
Eastern Promises 2007,  R)
Eastern Promises
I love Cronenberg for his consistency!
12
The Sweet Hereafter 1997,  R)
The Sweet Hereafter
A brilliant movie that shows what brilliant dramatization is.
13
Hål i mitt hjärta, Ett (A Hole In My Heart) 2004,  Unrated)
Hål i mitt hjärta, Ett (A Hole In My Heart)
What's with the overall rating on flixster? Genuine depictions of perversion were always too shocking for the philistres, like this portion of reality doesn't exist. Yes: while double-penetrating into a woman, only a thin layer of skin prevents two penises to rub each other,
14
Die Fälscher ,  Unrated)
Die Fälscher
Do you have a special skill that would save your life from gas chambers of NAZI-camps?
15
Fine Dead Girls (Fine mrtve djevojke) 2002,  Unrated)
Fine Dead Girls (Fine mrtve djevojke)
The old hag acted so well I had the wish to crush all her bones. A movie about unfortunately provoked lesbian love.
16
GoodFellas 1990,  R)
GoodFellas
Scorsese, similar to "Casino", at his best. And of course, you don't wan't to mess with Joe Pesci.
