Beats Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest

Pretty good documentary that makes me want to listen to everything A Tribe Called Quest has ever done, which can't be said about other music documentaries.
The film is a little slow and Reading Rainbow-esque. I hate the shaky cam style too. Some of the shots could have been perfect had Rapaport invested in a fucking tripod. However, the drama between Phife Dawg and Q-Tip towards the end make this one you shouldn't miss.

As much as I want to like this film, because Paul Rudd is a charming, hilarious actor, this is a terrible film.
Blame it on the marketing, the title, whatever you want, but this is just a slow-moving, no-laugh dramedy.
The best scene, of course, comes from Rudd at the tail-end, confronting everything in a bout to save the entire film and become some James L. Brooks-type film.
However, I feel that Peretz and his crew (which is a talented cast that is totally wasted) missed an opportunity. This could've been a classic like The Jerk or shown off Rudd's talent to be the stupidly charming guy in the room.
What we get is some hip bullshit flick that aims for love and heart. When really, all we want to see is Rudd make us laugh with his great sense of random, off-beat humor.
My life = 87 minutes shorter. Thanks, I could've been playing Twisted Metal 2.
