1
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring 2001,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
The first of a brilliant Trilogy - a wonderful cast and fantastic direction from Peter Jackson, who pretty much filmed the unfilmable.
2
Almost Famous 2000,  R)
Almost Famous
Fantastic coming-of-age road movie with a neat rock 'n' roll slant. Good, if slightly hokey, story and fantastic soundtrack make for a very entertaining film from Cameron Crowe.
3
Planet of the Apes 1968,  G)
Planet of the Apes
The original and, though dated, STILL the best - with one of the best cinematic shock endings ever.
4
Sleepy Hollow 1999,  R)
Sleepy Hollow
Tim Burton ROCKS! A lovely, slightly over-the-top retelling of the story proving that the Depp/Burton union is a marriage made in Heaven. Terrific fun.
5
The Doors 1991,  R)
The Doors
Not entirely accurate account of the legendary Doors rock band. Val Kilmer IS Jim Morrison - a stunning performance. Solid support from Meg Ryan and brilliant songs make this a film for all devotees of Rock history.
6
Shrek 2 2004,  PG)
Shrek 2
Puss In Boots steals every scene he appears in. Eddie Murphy was probably furious! A sequel that bettered the original.
7
Bearcity 2010,  Unrated)
Bearcity
I love this movie - leaves you with a huge "feel good" factor and is very entertaining and fun. BRING ON THE BEARS!
8
Meet the Feebles 1989,  R)
Meet the Feebles
Who knew that a gun toting nymphomaniac hippopotamus could be so much fun? A few years on from this film, Peter Jackson would make Lord Of The Rings. Incredible.
9
King Kong 2005,  PG-13)
King Kong
The original is a classic. In my opinion, this blew it away. Very long but wonderful.
10
Robin Hood 2010,  PG-13)
Robin Hood
A lot of critics mauled Russell Crowe's accent in this movie. At least he tried - inlike dear old Kevin Costner. Beyond that, this is a fine version of the legendary story, with Crowe and Cate Blanchett as two solid leads.
11
The Rose 1979,  R)
The Rose
Bette Midler was MADE for this role. Loosely based on Janis Joplin, the Divine Miss M storms through this musical drama. Even after so long (1979) this film is still very pwerful. Great music too.
12
A Dirty Shame 2004,  R)
A Dirty Shame
Oh, this is just so wrong, it's right! Lol.
13
High Spirits 1988,  PG-13)
High Spirits
Pure spooky family fun with an over the top performance from Peter O'Toole that is a joy to watch.
14
Bloodsucking Pharaohs in Pittsburgh 1991,  R)
Bloodsucking Pharaohs in Pittsburgh
Ham acting (possibly intentional), a "loopy" plot, psychos, buxom beauties, and the hosing down, then cattle-prodding of a woman with throat cancer in an attempt to stop her smoking...Sick? Sure. Twisted? Certainly. Funny? Hell yes!
15
From Hell 2001,  R)
From Hell
"Factional" account of London in 1888 and the notorious Jack The Ripper murders. Ok, it's not historically accurate but the spirit of Victorian London is suitably evoked and Johnny Depp (ably assisted by an ensemble cast) gives a solid, entertaining performance.
16
Thriller 1983,  Unrated)
Thriller
Is it a video? Is it a movie? It doesn't matter. It's genius. A great song, expertly envisioned by Landis and performed with consumate ease by Michael Jackson, then at the very top of his game.
17
This Is England 2006,  Unrated)
This Is England
Brutal and uncompromising British drama - a must see.
18
Dances With Wolves 1990,  PG-13)
Dances With Wolves
Breathtakingly epic - it still stands up well as a great film and, certainly, Costner's finest.
19
Killer Klowns from Outer Space 1988,  PG-13)
Killer Klowns from Outer Space
Wacky! Kooky!! Gross!!! Proving that clowns really ARE evil. Not-so-good, clean fun.
20
Plan 9 from Outer Space 1956,  Unrated)
Plan 9 from Outer Space
Legendary "so bad it's good" movie featuring Bela Lugosi and a stand in TALLER, BLONDER actor who took his place when Lugosi died during filming. Hubcaps as flying saucers are the least of this film's problems!!! Fantastic.
