Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
True Bollywood at it's best, is this effective comedy-romance, cementing Shah-Rukh Kahn as a true Bollywood phenemenon. 'Kuch Kuch' has an infectious glee about it, which seeps from the music, the characters and it's fun structure. It is a film that when it's touching, it is so effortlessly and can charm it audience in whatever emotion fits the scene. Add to this the skillful director's eye of Karan Johar and some beautiful dialogue , you not only have one of Bollywood's shining gems, but also one of world cinema's.

Show Me Love (Fucking Amal)
Tell people you've seen a film called 'Fucking Amal' about two Swedish lesbian schoolgirls will most likely conjure up the exact oppersite of what this film is! Shot beautifully minimalist, allowing the natural humour of the charectars and situations to shine through, this film is pitch perfect. Moodysson really knows the cruel and ironic streak of teenage life, the pain of first love and more importantly the longing for acceptance. It's two leads are breath-takingly good and it's script so natural you'll find it ringing alot of bells. Most of all it's very VERY funny.

Tideland 2005,  R)
Tideland
An astounding vision of a little girl dealing with a mostly solitary existance in the deep of Texas by seeing it all throughthe eyes of fantasy. The awkward and retarded Dickens becomes a sea captain and her boyfriend and his eccentric sister Del a witch and Dickens' captor. Like a great painting this is open to the viewers own interpretation. If there's any justice it will win awards, particularly little Jodelle Ferland and her portrayl as the excitable Jeliza-Rose complete with alternate voices for her doll's head friends. Prepare to be taken on a very different but wonderful journey. So far the best film I've seen this year for it's creativity and it's originalty.
