My Favorite Movies

The greatest musical of all time. The songs and choreography are amazing, plus the story about the transition from silent movies is brilliant. A fantastic feel good film.

The start of something amazing, in the sense that it kicked the sci-fi genre up the butt and helped take it out of the b-movie and into blockbusters.

Fantastic classic film. This is the daddy of all cop thrillers ever since. Without this there'd be no Lethal Weapons or most action films since!

A classic film. I wouldn't really call it a horror as some of my friends do, but it's a brilliant and thrilling film even today.

One of the best thrillers of the past twenty years. A cracking yarn about two very different cops working to find a serial killer, but even more than that.

I'm never really sure which of Hitchcock's films is my favourite, but I've seen this so many times, and a lot of the set pieces are now stuck in popular culture.

This must surely be up in the top 5 Bond films of all time. The story is so amazingly close to the original material, and Bond himself is as dark as the one in the books.

The whole piece just has such great feel to it. The acting is superb, whilst not being hokey and jokey - something I hate about a lot of Bond films.

What they've done here is given people a top thriller, which happens to have James Bond as it's central character.

Sensational.

Absolutely one of the best comedies ever made. This film is truly amazing. The writing relationship between Aykroyd and Landis works superbly, and this is where the comedy coupling of Aykroyd & Belushi in film shines so well.

The film itself has so many elements to it that it's not always so obvious to see what's going on. The music is of course amazing, as are the musicians and artists' performances. The comedy is also top rate.

The fact that it's about two orphans trying to redeem themselves for all of their sins, however naively and illegally, is such a strong bonus to the piece, that adds a poignancy to the whole thing. Truly a classic film. The bit where Jake is so distraught with the Carrie Fisher character in the sewers is so telling of two people who's lives could have been so very different, and also shows the regrets they have in life.

If you've not seen this for a long time, or have never seen it ever, then you're missing a true gem.

This film is definitely amazing, but I'll admit that sometimes it can seem a little long and drawn, and other times I can marvel at the scope.

By far the better of the two films (this and 'Flags Of Our Fathers' were made alongside each other as companion pieces almost). Absolutely one of the most stunning films I have ever seen. The casting is absolutely right, portraying the emotions of the roles perfectly. The chap plaing Siago (Kazunari Ninomiya?)is brilliant, displaying a character that has mixed feelings about the situation. Watanabe too is amazing in the role of another character who's fighting for their country, but this time is fighting against the people whom he'd lived with. A patriotic person, who is also a master tactician - if only all of the officers under his command had believed and trusted in him, then the situation may have been very different.

Everything is amazing to do with this film, by far the very best film that Eastwood has ever been involved in, and that comes from someone who is very much an Eastwood fan, so there's a very large back-catalogue there to stand it up against. If I was to say that this film ranks alongside and possibly eclipses films such as Lawrence of Arabia, and the likes, then I'm sure that I wouldn't be overstating this. It most definitely is one of the best films to do with war that has ever been made.
